This is a deceptive scam because they don't tell you everything you have to know FIRST and you have to pay upfront. Forget that.
If you want a legit money maker, try going to your state comptroller website and click on "unclaimed money." You can look up the info on any name in the country to see if they are owed money. You do the research and get in touch with these people and when you click on the name of the person, you will see a document they have to sign and return to the comptroller to claim the money. They also have a document called a finder fee, that you also send the person and they sign to pay you a percentage of the unclaimed amount. You can find everything you need at your state comptrollers website. It does take some time doing the research but it is a legit way to make some money and it could be a lot.

Like you, I got suckered into it. After further research, I found out that it is a scam. You get a list of names to send letters to. (Same list that everyone else gets). HUD sends the refund to the recipient and it is up to YOU to get a percentage from the recipient. That is where your money comes from, so its not from the company itself or HUD. HUD does not hire third-party tracers, which is what you are. Anyone due a refund from HUD can just go online to HUD website and type in their name. So I called the company again (Capital Marketing Group) to get my money refunded. They took my name and number and some woman called me back on a restricted number. She said I couldn't get a refund because their cancellation policy is that if AFTER 90 days I don't make UP TO $600/week then I can apply for a refund, not BEFORE/DURING 90 days. And even after that, they want you to write a letter stating why and the accounting dept will REVIEW your application and determine if you qualify for a refund. I asked to speak with the accounting dept and she said they don't take calls. I said why not? Then she said, well they do but they only take messages they don't call back. What a bunch of scammers! My suggestion - BEFORE your 90 days are up dispute it with you credit card company. If you try to dispute it after 90 days, the credit card company can deny your request (which of course these scammers knew from the beginning thus the 90-day policy).
