Got a phone call from these people, asking if I was owner of new business, I say yes, and I do not want to be solicited (they called my personal line). The guy said "I ain't trying to solicit you, I'm just...." and I interrupt with, "I don't care, take me off your calling list." Before I could hang up, this person says, "Bi***!" Then CALLS ME BACK!! I'm amused at this point, so I answer, politely, "Hello!" Same guy, says, "You're such a bi***. I'm gonna keep calling you just to ruin your day!" So I laugh and say, "Good luck!" And I hang up and block the number. I was annoyed, but I really got a kick out of how miserable some people are.

Use this number as work....they keep calling for 10.00 will update my google listing.
I say NO...but they call back again and again.

I hope they call me again.  I didn't even get them talking to me, they just hung up!  I love these things as I enjoy the freedom of speech!!!

Im sick and getting fed up of getting these damn phone calls!

I was working on some online advertising and started receiving numerous calls from this number.  Sometimes every couple of minutes.  When I finally spoke to them they tried to sell me some $5 a month thing that would put me at the top of google searches, etc.  I started questioning her and she just kept saying that everything would be recorded in the call.  I told her I thought this was a scam and refused to give her any info and told her never to call me again.  Then she called back 3 times and I didn't answer.  The next day she called back and I told her I spoke to yp.com (their supposed affiliate) and they are not affiliated with that number at all.  She hung up on me.

They keep calling. I never pick up if I don't recognize the number or aren't expecting a call from a new possible client whose number I may not have yet. I see the # on the caller ID, my vm message kicks in and they always hang up. BUT they call right back. Rinse, lather, repeat. Then they stop. A few weeks ago though I was expecting an important call and I did pick up, did not check caller Id that time but based on what i've read here I think it was them. I know not to use the word "yes" at all and thanks to the poster who previously mentioned that because it is very important that people have that knowledge.. Anyway I think it was them because the MO of the woman who answered sounded very much like what I encountered. She kept trying to get me to say I was me. Is this Mr. So and so? I said ""who's calling?" She said" I need to speak to Mr. so and so" again. Again I said "who wants to know?" She said something about my computer service. The she asked me if I was Mr. so and so again. We did this dance four or five times. Finally I said either identify yourself and your business or I hang up on the count of three. She hung right up. From now on I am keeping my oldest and dustiest mouth harp on the desk and if I see that number I am going to blow as hard as I can into the highest hole on it as right into the phone.

I just got this call on our 2nd business line. I did not answer this 888-217-5736 as I though it was an advertising starting with 888... no time for it. Then I googled it and found your site.

What i's very odd, is this line is not too much in use. I am on 1 local advertising and Angielist.com. And yesterday I just just put a little add in PENNYSAVERUSA.com with pics of our latest flyer (and this number is on it) I don't know if it's related... But very very strange... Trying to expand my small business, I think I just got targetted for scam too.

i got call from this number, wanted to put my website on google first page.
claimed to be from manta but later i found out she is not from manta.com.
the way i got tricked was that she had informaation of mine that only manta.com had.
total misrepresentation and got my card info and charged me.

Received a call from this number this morning. No message left. NDNCR complaint filed, and number blocked.

The telemarketers from yellowpages.com are rude & unprofessional! They have already called me 5 times today, in the last hour. I have told them over & over again that I do not want my telephone number posted online. I have a private number & am also on the Do Not Call Registry list. I have repetitively told them not to call me back, but they continue to do so. They do not care what you have to say & do not listen when you speak. By the third call (within a matter of 5 minutes) I had lost my patience & was actually yelling at the person on the other end who was still talking over me & not listening. The fourth call, my son answered & tried to handle, but also got nowhere, because they called back again. Finally, I told them they had the wrong number. I really hope this works.

They called me several time today, right after my listing went up on Manta. I answered the first call and someone with a heavy asian accent claimed to be from advertising solutions. I told her I wasn't interest and hung up. But they keep calling, and its very annoying.

These people call each time I post an online ad. They are wanting to list my service for a fee. However, they call literally 20 times a day and yesterday they called 14 times in an hour and a half. What can be done?

I have received calls from four different number today, all the same thing.  888-217-5736, 503-457-1034, 630-447-8739, and 813-111-2411.  All claim from US Directory wanting to verify information about my business, all with very heavy foreign accents.  I hung up on the first one after saying that if your company wants to do business with me, have someone call that I can understand.  I played along with the first one for a bit but what concerned me is that she had my business name, phone number, and location although she did not have my name.  The rest did.  I just set up my internet presence on Yelp and Manta and have a web site, so am not sure where they are getting the info from.  From now on just letting unknown numbers go to voice mail.

For answering yes I am the marketing guy? I asked to speak to their manager, and they said THEY were the manager. No idea what they were sellig. ps: they called twice and hung up BEFORE they "conducted their interview" - i have no idea what product they are selling

888-217-5736 has called me 4 times within the past 15 minutes. After googling the phone number and reading the posts on 800notes I answered their call to just to see what they would say. "Gabby" with a mild-medium foreign accent said he/she was calling from USdirectory. I immediately cut him/her off and advised that I had gotten a call from them a few months ago and told them I wasn't interested then and to please never call my business again. He/she said "Alright" as I said thank you and hung up the phone. The first time they called me a few months ago I googled their company as I was on the phone with them to find out it was a scam. I hung up on the caller. They called back and left a message giving me their website where I could sign up. When speaking with them then, and again today, both calls were civil. The caller was polite, and there was no bad language or threats made. It really makes me sick that some people capitalize on trying to scam those that put their blood, sweat, and tears to make a living for their families.

I'm glad, I googled the number too.

Yes, the number is disconnected and they said that they are willing to help me with my business on Yahoo.  I don't have a business on yahoo.  They wanted my account information at the end of the call very quickly, so I told them I would have to discuss it with my husband.  They kept calling, but I didn't answer.  Then, I get a pop up on my YAHOO sign in.  Found out this was a hacker!  It told me that my account was in jeopardy and that I needed to change my password right away!  I didn't understand it until it was too late.  I don't have anything major in my emails, but you never know what a hacker can use!  I have since changed my password within yahoo and reported this to yahoo.  The phone number that called me was 1-888-217-5736.

These people are scam artists, and if you don't give them what they want, they get nasty.

I just received a call from someone named Tony, who claimed she was from USDirectory.com.  She said all she wanted was $5/mo plus a .25/click fee to service our ad on their supposed "yellow pages".  
It's a scam.  

They keep telling you the call is recorded so they can legally bind you - don't agree to anything.  They keep asking you, 'Ok?' - do not speak.  It's a trap.  You can say, 'I understand' but DON'T say "OK" because this can be cut and pasted to make it sound like you agreed.  They say you can access a copy of the phone recording online - LIES, there's no link on their website.

What they do is, they ask you several mundane questions like your name, your business name, address phone and website url.  Then they try a pitch.  If that doesn't work, they try more mundane questions followed by a pitch.  If you are nice about it, and try to nicely exit the conversation, they get nasty.  

After I refused to say 'ok' several times, I told her, I wasn't able to offer her money, and her response was...I kid you not..."well, since you've already wasted MY time..."   I hung up immediately.  

If you set your mind to never tolerate verbal abuse from anyone, weeding out scammers parading as telemarketers, becomes quite easy.

So these guys called me and I totally thought it was legit. So I confirmed all my info except for any credit card info. I got a weird feeling cause they said they were based out of my city. But when they pronounced the name of my city they butchered it. I knew right then this was a scam. I told them I would talk with my partner and call them back. I did not give out any credit card info. Should I be worried though that they have my address, phone and website info? I am kinda freaking out. Can anyone help me?

I also received the calls as mentioned, A couple of heavy accented woman tried to sell me ads calling me 4 times after I politely told them that I wasn't interested. She changed the name of the company each time she called listed as USA-white pages-yellow pages=SCAM!
I have been advertising with all of the FREE pages possible to get my new business off of the ground.
They must have found me on these ads which reminds me of two things. My ads are working, someone found my listing! GOOD for me! And now I have opened myself up to predators and need to be very careful.

I missed this call by accident, but after reading the comments, I'm glad I did!  I can only add that I once made the mistake of listing with US Directory.  I'll not make that mistake again.  There are much better alternatives.

unwanted call...odd timing, since I'm deep in the process of setting up my web site for the first time.  I'm guessing someone, is slipping them the info...anyway.  I have NO tolerance for any type of incoming sales calls.  I told her, I'm not buying anything, remove me from the list...she comes back with a quick list of Ok..I'll remove you from Google...Yahoo...bla...bla...bla......I had a little bit of an o-sh_t reaction, like maybe...but I did not say anything to her.... if she was from Google, she would have spoken much more clearly and handled the objections professionally.

I just received a call from this lady, from some online business directory, wanting to "update" my information.  I myself work as a telemarketer with a very reputable company.  So I couldn't imagine that my company was having someone call me for info.  So I asked her again who she was calling for.  She repeated same answer.  She gave my state, and wanted to know what city I was in/wanted to be listed for.  I told her I did not want to give her that information..She tried to confirm my number, which was the number she was calling me on.  I told her that I was confused as to why she would be calling me.  Then she hung up.

I just got a call from this number but I am not listed anywhere on the internet and do not run a business at all. Weird, I ignored it and googled the number like I always do, hopefully they won't call again.

Got 5 calls within a half an hour because I did not want to sign up at the time of call. I own a small business and tried to explain I did not have time at the moment and I would call them back. The lady kept trying to say we are almost done please just a few minutes longer. I hung up and got 2 calls at the same time (NOT KIDDING) and told both I am extremely busy and this was uncalled for. The last call came and I told them they were relentless and did not want their business or call anymore. After searching the number and business I found a lot of negative comments and stories about them. The number they called from was inactive and it came to no surprise to me.
To all before you accept anything via phone always ask who they are with and ask that you  call them back so you can do your research. The people that called were with U.S Directory and they were trying to get a sale like their life depended on it.

OMG thise people called my phone 4 times with out leaving a message so I finally answered. She told me she worked with US Directories. I nicely then told her that I was not interested to take my name and number and add it to her DO NOT CALL LiST. I also advised her that if I needed their service then I would call them. She said how are you going to call us back if you do not have our number. I said then if you are not a scam then I should be able to look up your company information to contact the company back at a furture time, please do not call me again and then I hung up..

A gentleman called and wanted to sell me listing in a phone directory. I told him I'm not spending any more money on advertising. He said it is only $5. I asked if he'll need my credit card number. He, of course said yes, I said no way and hung up. I then got an email from a prospective customer. When I called she told me she didn't request anything. In speaking with her I found that she lists with the same business directory I do. It seems that the 'gentleman' called us both and when we didn't give him what he wanted, he sent service email requests to both of us from each of us...cute.
