got the $7.20 charged on my wachovia card. this is not the card i use for paypal, but i do use it on amazon and itunes. I called the associated press to try and get this on the news. I bet their doing this to thousands of people. Also called my states attorney generals office they were little help. most people probably overlook this small charge and dont question it.I would really like to see these scammers caught.

I belong to a small northern California credit union and I received a charge this past week. Also from this number/getnewitems and for the amount of $7.20. I informed my institution and they have cancelled my card and are trying to recover the money for me.

I just called Bank of America to see if they initiated the charge since I ordered checks and a new check card. They said that they did not, and to wait until it is processed and call back to dispute it.

Like everyone else here I got hit with this fraudulent charge on my credit card for $7.20 for GET NEW ITEMS. I did not receive a call or anything but I called the number that was associated with the charge on my credit card statement. I called my bank to report and cancel card, and what they told me was that the charge was coming from PAYPAL, and when thinking about it my credit card is one of the credit cards that I have in my PAYPAL profile. Just to let you know I have Navy Federal Credit Union, not BofA, so it looks like this is true to where PAYPAL profiles have been compromised and any banks credit card has been stolen from PAYPAL. My next step is to call and alert PAYPAL, I will post anything more that I find out. Until then everyone you might want to go delete that card from your profile at PAYPAL.

Oh, my bank is BofA like others on here.
Lay-off any disgruntled employees lately BofA? Oh yea! 30,000 - 35,000 of them over the next 3 years! This may just be the beginning, folks.

Like others here, got an item on my bank statement (debit card) for $7.20 with this phone number as the reference with "GETNEWITEMS." Called bank and they will reverse. I guess $7.20 isn't much until you charge several thousand peoples cards (wild guess) fraudulently!
| Hink 2009-01-08 20:26:37 Unknown |
they got me too with the $7.20, I called my DA after contacting my bank...make sure you change your card number.
| Janet 2009-01-08 15:06:44 Unknown |
Just received this same charge on 1-07-09 on my US Bank credit card. I also recently downloaded from iTunes. US Bank has changed my number.

Thanks to this info I was able to start the process of getting the $7.20 back. Charges appeared on the 22nd and I called the number where the message told me my call was important to them and they would call back. Heaven't heard and I'm guessing I won't.

I just noticed this fraudulent charge on my credit card as well, $7.20 from GETNEWITEMS. The credit card company said they would refund the charge, but was willing to wait until it happened again before they would issue a new card? If they're willing to eat the charge I guess I'll let them, but seemed a bit strange. Either way, I plan on reporting it to the applicable law enforcement agencies.

This is a Fraudulent Company and we are researching how or who gave them the list of CC numbers they are running through. Also the CC processing company can be held liable for granting them a CC processing account. Please contact you Bank immediately..so far BOA customer. Let us know any other banks effected.

I did not get a call. I just saw a fraudulent charge for 7.20 dated 12/17/08 on my credit card statement with this phone number. "Buy New Items" was also on there. If you call the number it's just some girl saying "thanks for calling...leave a message." Total BS. The (debit) card that was charged has not been used for at least 8 months and this charge caused an overdraft fee. That's a good reason to not procrastinate...especially with cancelling a card. I have no idea where they would have gotten the number. It was used at Redboxes but that was at least 8 months ago, as I said.

This just happened to me. I called the credit card company and got the 7.20 charge removed and they are issuing new cards. What concerns me is how they got my number. Does anyone use this particular charge card to make purchases at red box video or itunes?
