I got tired of all these calls and bought me a good Call Blocker. Can now block individual calls, area number calls and block ID names. I like the Digitone.

This is the National Rifle Association's number. They keep calling my business and when I do not answer they will not leave a message. I *69 the number and it was them. A recording says that they were trying to get in touch with us (mind you I called them) and that they will call back in a couple days. If I wanted additional information to press 1. I waited to see if it gave me any other options and it didn't, it hung up on me. They also kept calling my home phone multiple times of the day until finally I did the same thing (*69) and waited through all of the prompts. Finally when it came to press this button to opt out of future callings, I pressed that one and it worked. These calls are not giving the option. The phone companies need to quit letting people and corporations from hiding behind toll free numbers or unavailable numbers.

I have a Fax Machine that shares the same phone line as my land line. I used to have a separate dedicated Fax line which I disconnected for this reason. When an 888 or 800 number shows up that is blocked or shows as "Private" I turn on my Fax Machine. This way their system will pick it up as a non working number. They will take your phone number off their list.

Best thing to do is purchase a call blocker and add the numbers to your list. I block all toll -free numbers. That way they are automatically kicked out. Sure is nice being able to eat dinner without being bothered by these pests.

Did you actually speak to the caller? I did and it was not the National Rifle Association. It was the National Recovery Agency. I told them I was busy and asked for a call back number. This is what they gave : 800-773-4503. Then I called the National Rifle Association and discussed what happened. They are aware of the problem. The debt company is spoofing, meaning that they are putting into their computer the phone number to the National Rifle Association in hopes it will lure you to pick up the phone.

It is not the National Rifle Association. It is the liberal anti gun control groups with an agenda to cause hate against the NRA. Scum bag trickery.

Got a call from this number that said "Anonymous." It's the National Rifle Association. Happened today exactly as Michelle posted above:

Called the number back and got recording stating was the National Rifle Association and they had important new information and that they were sorry they missed me and would try calling back in a few days.  There was not an option to be removed from their list only the opportunity to press 1 to hear about their new updates.  Call was disconnected after recording.

Its the National Recovery Agency not the National Riffle Association. These Pricks have been calling me for years looking for my stepdaughters ex husband. They have a huge bank of #s so it doesn't do you any good to block them. The only way you can stop the calls is change your phone # and make it unlisted. I know its a pain in the a** but thats what it takes

999-224-6462. Yep, they keep calling. I do not answer any call with a ID of anonymous. I called the number back this time and it is National Rifle Association with important news. I've had enough. I'm dropping my membership anyway after they sponsored that program with the great white hunter shooting an elephant in the face. I think they just have a very profitable business.

Spoofing now makes it impossible to tell what number is really calling.

The only long term solution is Federal legislation that requires all telephone service providers to include a feature that allows the customer to block calls that require a caller to manually enter a PIN (personal Identification number) before the call can be completed.

This won?t happen until our Senators and Representatives get tired of hearing their constituents complain.
Find out who you Senators and Representative is and prepare a stock letter that you can send EVERY TIME you receive an unwanted call.   PS tell them to de-fund and eliminate the completely useless DO NOT CALL center.

YES, get a call blocker!  I got one for about $50 -- it's not perfect but it will block 1200 calls!!!!!  And I intend to fill it....  As for the DNC list, that is really NOT something the government needs to be doing!  Handle it yourself and it'll be more efficient and YOU will be in control.

I receive calls daily from this NRA group (National Recovery Agency). They have called using at least 10 different phone numbers.  When they call my number they are looking for my ex-daughter in-law who skipped out on a credit card balance.  Who I haven't seen or spoken to in 10 years.  But telling them that I have had no contact with her in 10 years doesn't matter to them.  They continue to call.  And they are NOT the National Rifle Association.  Here is one of their addresses: 2491 Paxton Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111.  Put that address in Google Maps and look at it with Google Street-View.  You can actually see the building they work out of.  It has NRA on the front of the building.  They are bottom feeders that buy bad debit from other collection agencies and banks.  They buy it for pennies on the dollar so anything they can get from you is profit to them

This is a scam debt collector! They are National Recovery Associates/NCO/Portfolio Recovery, this is not the National Rifle Association. They will hound you trying to collect on non-existent debt or debt that is past the Statue of Limitations for collection. You can Google them to see all the complaints against the company along with the lawsuits - past & present against them.

I've had a digitone call blocker for 2 years and none of these calls get thru.  Just show up on the caller ID.
Well worth the $92.00.  I'm a senior citizen - whose home is paid in full - don't have cc and don't have any reason for collectors to be calling all hours of the day.  I bought this machine for peace of mind.

Don't press 1! All you are doing is letting them know your number is a working number, they will sell your number to telemarketers, and then your calls will multiply!!

I can't believe this is the NRA, it is probably a scam to ge t you to send them money but who knows where it will go? I hate to tell you honest people this, but these scammers will lie. they will tell you anything to get your money. I always write down one of those numbers I don.t recognize and check it on google, don't answer any number you don't recognize, if you are really concerned, take your phone off the hook when you leave home or you will find your answering machine clogged when you get back home.

I have noticed several calls recently that have comments here where someone has called the number back and it is the National Rifle Association. Whoever these scammers are, they are SPOOFING THEIR NUMBER. Yes, if you call it back you get the NRA. If they put YOUR number in, people would be calling you and claiming you were the one calling them. Whether the number they are spoofing is the NRA or PETA, try to look past your politics and smell the scam. These pond scum don't want you to call them back and tell them to remove you from some list. They are most likely using a computer robo-dialer and calling every number they can to try and scam whoever will listen to them. If they spent the same effort working a real job, they would have honest money and everyone would be better off for it.

I have a couple of ways to deal with these parasites. First, I let the phone ring three full times before I pick up. I pick up and don't say anything for 2-3 seconds. If it is a computer autodialer, 80-90% of the time the computer will hang up thinking it has gotten a voice mail or answering machine. After 2-3 seconds, I say our company name, but don't give out my name. That way they don't automatically have a name if they call back and get someone else. If I still get a person and they insist, I tell them my name is "Richard Smith"(it's not). It is none of their business what my real name is, they are telescammers who are breaking the law. If they persist in calling over and over again, I tell them that my boss is available, and then I use a sports air horn right next to the phone. What are they going to do, sue me? "Your Honor, I was illegally telescamming and they deafened me!" Good luck with THAT argument. The judge might give me a medal. Reporting these "people"(I use that term loosely) to the Do Not Call Registry is futile, they are usually spoofing their phone number anyway. If you have the time, have some fun with them. See how long they will stay on hold or still be on the line if you put the phone down. Take your cordless into the bathroom and have an extended "deposit" at the Porcelain Bank, complete with very loud fake sound effects. Tell them you ARE the boss and listen to their sales pitch, never saying yes to anything, but always saying that you will look at your numbers and see what you can do. Some scammers will record any affirmative answer you give and then splice it into a call and bill you for whatever they are selling, using that as evidence of an order. Waste as much of their time as you can, because that keeps them from scamming other people, and it can be a really fun stress reliever! Anything that we can do to make this less profitable for these ticks on the butt of humanity is a plus. Feel free to pass this on or add to it with your fun ways of taking back your phone lines. If these idiots would get a real job, the world would be a better place for all of us.
