I called the number to see what it was, and an auutomated voice ask you verify credit card number, social, etc. Very scammy!

A text msg was sent to my cuz from this number ( IT is SPAM ). An employee at a local bank adv not to call and give info

My husband called me yesteday 5 min. after he had used his card he received a text message stating there was "Unusual Activity" on our account.  I thought that this was crazy, but my husband NEVER uses his card so I thought wow that is nice that it gives me a warning when he uses his card!!  I was then talking about this with a girl from work and she looked up the number and we found this web site!!  I guess you can never trust anyone!!

i got the same text here..just call them and give them some fake info. ull have to do it twice. crazy people out there! low life!

I got a call from this number.  I called the number, but blocked my number, and entered the first 8 numbers of a very old no longer valid Citibank Credit Card, then made up the next 8 numbers and it advanced.  Then it asked for the exp date, I made that up too, then it asked for the pin, and I made that up ......... just seeing where it went.  Then it just said, "Thank You" and hung up.  

Scammers need to be shot.

I got the same thing a little bit ago. I ran a query on the 888# and it came back with "not provided". Then did an e800ver on it and it came back with a CIC of 0555, I beleive that is MCI/Worldcom who owns that 888#.

Does anyone have info on the owner of the number?  Where the calls are coming from?  Target carrier?

Got a text message with the 888.236.2599 number stating that I needed to verify my "Credit Union |unusual activity|.

I called the number cuz I'm ballsey like that.  All you get is an automated voice asking you to enter your credit card number associated with the account.  

Needless to say, I didn't do anything of the sort.  

There were no options to speak with an operator.  An invalid credit card number did not advance the process.

I would highly recommend not responding to the text.  Your account is not in danger, but it would be if you entered your info.  THIS IS MOST DEFINITELY A SCAM. Almost all American banks never ask for your credit card number over the phone, they ask for your account number and to verify the last four digits of your social security number.  

If ANYONE asks for personal information, credit card numbers or account numbers you can always ask them to put the request in writing and mail it to you directly.  Verify contact info for your credit union, bank or credit card company independently and certainly not on the same call as a potential scammer.

Funny thing is, after I filed an online complaint with the FCC I called the number from a public phone and a computerized phone asks you for (get this) your credit card number, address and social security number. Wow.

This is a fraudulent number - DO NOT RESPOND!!

I do have a Credit Union account but the message came on my work "on-call" phone which the Credit Union knows nothing about.

I will be calling this number right away.... NOT!

Rec'd text 12:08 CST, 12-22-08 from leroy@agiusa.com and phone # provided was 888-236-2599 stating that "you need to verify your credit union account".  Obvious phishing--if you send that to enough people, eventually someone will have a "credit union" account and might respond with sensitive info.

Got the same message on Dec 21, 2008 - I have credit union acct, but i suspect this is fraud.
