I am a 13 year old kid, and I had just recently gotten my first cell phone (like most kids my age or younger) and I started getting calls from Sterling & Seymour. At first I just ignored the calls. I ignored them because they were for someone else. after 1 month I got annoyed, so when they called again I spoke with a person and just told them they have the wrong number, and i don't know who they are looking for. After that they stopped calling for that person, but then started just calling for no reason at all, saying they have my have my S.S. number. After that i got y parents to talk with them and say they were harassing a child. At that point they stopped calling, but switched to automated calling, saying the same infomation about how they are going to arrest me, and have my S.S. number.

So, earlier today, when I got an automated message, I handed it to my dad, and he called their number after the message hung up, and when a person picked up, my dad asked who this was, and the guy said he was David. Then my dad asked for information on were the company was located, so he could file a complaint. At that point the man, as for told as "David" started becoming evasive and tried talking over my dad to the point where he would try to tell lies about where the company was, saying like it was on the moon, and would try to come up with any reason on why nt to get the info. Right then my dad said "yo! yo! yo! yo!" to get the guy's attention, but then in a very rude manner the man said "you will not address me that way, and now I will not answer any of your questions. So then my dad asked to speak with a supervisor, so then the guy put the phone on hold for about a minute, and when the phone picked up, it was the same guy. Then my dad said "is this the same guy!?" and then he said "yes it's me, and whenever you call, I will just intercept your calls so they always go to me. Then my dad started getting frustrated and raised his voice so it was more assertive, and asked where the company was located at. Then the guy said "tell me your address" so my da said our house number and street name very slowly. Then the guy said their address (a fake one though) very fast, then my dad said "woah! woah! Slow down, can you please repeat that, sir?" and then the man said "I said it the same speed you did!!!" in a very rude tone, then he started trying to talk over my dad, so my dad
hung up. Then my dad calls back, and then the same guy answers, and starts yelling in the phone about why a 13 year old kid should not have a phone (even though I only use it to call my parents on when to pick me up from sports), and then he tries talking over my dad again when my dad said "sir please listen to me". Then the man hangs up. So my dad calls again, and the guy that picks up is a different guy (or so he made it seem until we figured out it was the same guy) and said, "are you only calling to yell at us and use us like a punching bag for your anger" (even though my dad was not yelling, and only using an assertive voice) and then he hung up. So my dad calls again, and the guy says I am blocking your number from calling us, so my dad says "fine, I hope you do the same to our number, so you can't call us again". And then the man hung up.

After that, I asked my dad why he kept calling back, and my
Dad said that he used to work in A business that would do stuff like that, (but he never was rude like that, and always tried to make things work as kindly as possible) and my dad said, the only way to get them to do anything is to do the same thing they did to you, to them, which in this case was calling them.

This is a scam!! Remember this land has laws!!! FDCPA to protect people from letigitimate collectors from being abusive and Fraud and federal laws to protect against people like Sterling and Seymour that are scammers.

It is against the law for what is happening and people do have to have a letter sent to them!! Again it's the real law!!! Not just the ones made up to scare people!

Also federal prison is what is waiting for these people. Attorney Generals office in NY are investigating and cases, (yes, cases plural) have been filed.

I recevied a call from a so called process server saying that he was 15 minutes from me and that he wanted to give me a chance to take care of my issue before he served me and I was in more trouble. He told me to call 716-204-1839 and then hung up.

I called and spoke to our Mr. Uneducated on the law Eric Ross. He is with Sterling and Seymour. I told him I had just got a call from a process server that told me to call there to take care of it before he comes out to me. I asked Mr. Ross what this was for and he said a payday loan from 2007. First of all I don't have any outstanding and this has been confirmed. Secondly he couldn't give any details other then 2007 and a payday loan. He said if I didn't pay right then with a debit or credit card my bank accounts would be frozen for the next 6-8 weeks waiting for a court date..by the way to serve a summons there is a court date. When I kept questioning him he hung up. I called back and asked for their address so can get the debt validated and he hung up and refused. I called the Clerk of Courts and no summons had been filed ever for me from anyone. This is a scam and highly illegal!! Contrary to what "Steven" thinks you do have to send a letter you just can't call. It is the law look up the FDCPA. Also they cannot threaten to do something that is not going to be done or hasn't been done as in a process server is coming. When I called the clerk of courts was told this is a scam and to make a police report. Which I did.

Do not give any information or fianancial information to these people it is a scam!!

Call the police and write down all phone numbers that come over the caller ID and what they say!

I have received several calls from 716-204-1815, 716-204--1800 and 866 981 6464.  its always from a guy by the name of Don Davies and he never seems to get my name right.  Always say they need to talk to me by the end of the day, that either me or my legal consulatant need to call back.  I have looked into them and it seems like it is a scam.   Dont call back because then they will have your number on file and if they were ligit they would be sending something in the mail making you aware of any debt NOT harrassing on the phone.

I was lefted a message today and was told to return the call to 866 981 6464 from Sterling and Seymour with the same type of information you guys have posted. I spoke with Erci Ross and I have no idea who they are or what they are talking about. I have no knowlege of the debt they claim I owe, and it puzzles me to know how they obtained all my information including my ss#.

Johnathan Corda called from 888-242-9249 today and got mad when I informed him that the Velvet Spoon in Plano, Texas has this same number on their twitter page. He was rude and hung up on me. If they are a legitimate business, there should be a listed number and the business should be easy to locate. He didn't say he was from the courts so I don't understand why he is telling me about a summons coming to my address. He had an address that we haven't lived at for years now. Well, I quess we shall see what manifests.

This man called from 888-242-9242 saying he was from Sterling and Seymore and his name was Eric Ross. He was contacting someone about a legal matter and a summons will be served at the workplace between 2 pm & 4 pm to have the person contact him. I reseached the number and found that it was connected to the Velvet Spoon in Plano, Texas. This is a yogurt shop. This number is on their twitter page and everything. I blocked my number and call Eric Ross back and told him this number was to a yogurt shop and he hung up on me. So much for that.
