sheriffs will not get involved because it is a civil case, only the district attorney can make it a criminal one. besides the minute the sheriff knows the person who is reporting it is a person that owes debt the will allow the courts to handle it. the us bank example is only in court if the person wrote a bad check or overdraft and will not pay it back and that is what is criminal. its falls under the bad check law. check with the district attorney in your area. so the comment above is not correct.

Lake County Sheriff's Office warns of phone scam

Sue Bergheim Reporting
kjamnews@madison.threeeagles.com

The Lake County Sheriff?s Office is warning residents of another phone scam that is hitting the area.  Chief Sheriff?s Deputy Tim Walburg says residents have been getting calls from people from Full Spectrum Litigation ? which does not exist and is a scam company.  These people are looking for credit card or bank account information to settle a debt related to U-S Bank or other financial institutions.  Walburg says the representative on the phone says they will try and settle a debt they say you owe.  He says they will ask for personal information such as your social security number, date of birth, and address, and they will ask if you would like to settle out-of-court for a small fee, which amounts to less than half the amount they are saying you defaulted the bank.
The number they are calling from is 1-888-787-7602.  Walburg says the representative will also say something about sending the case off to court and that it could result in criminal charges.  The calls that the Lake County Sheriff?s office have received from residents say the scam calls are related to bad checks to merchants.  Walburg says residents should be aware that no prosecution like what this company is saying can happen in Lake County.
If you have received a call or have any questions about these calls, you are encouraged to contact the Sheriff?s Office at 256-7615.

These people called me at work. I asked them to please not call me at work anymore but to mail me a copy of what they claimed I owed - they said it was an old credit card debt, which I think was in my bankruptcy and therefore isn't collectable. They called my job a few days later and proceeded to harrass me. I reminded them I had requested for them to not call me at work and that I hadn't received anything in the mail yet from them. The man said he'd call me when and where ever he wants! Then he told me what a horrible person I am because I had filed bankruptcy and had bad debts. I offered to give him my cell number and home address and he refused and just continued to insult me. Scum of the Earth.

I received this message for the second time for a Rudvers Cadigan. This is a private cell phone number and when I tried to get them to stop calling me, the man who answered the phone tried to get private information from me.  He told me to expect a call every day. I told him to expect a lawsuit, which he is going to get.  I have already retained an attorney.

I received a call from 888-244-9050 (Full Spectrum & Litigation). I don't answer my phone to unknown numbers or restricted numbers . So I didn't answer this one either because it came up restricted on my phone. I retrieve the message after one is left with a man saying I needed to return his phone call within 48 hours or I was going to be sued. He gave me a file # but no return phone number. Later that night , my brother in law says he got a call from the number mentioned above , looking for me . He didn't know the number so he left his answering machine get it with the same message but this time the guy left a number and a file# . The file # that he left on my brother in laws answering machine didn't match the file # that was left on my voice mail. I tried calling the number and couldn't get anyone to answer the phone. How am I supposed to get back to whom-ever within 48 hours if no one will answer the phone ? How can I be served if they don't have an address for me ? And I haven't received any papers or letters about anything , let alone any phone calls except this one. I don't know what to think of it , so I will wait and see what happens.

Got the call today from Full Spectrum (8882449050). Funny how they did not have my correct address... matter of a fact the addy was about 8 years old. Anyways telling my that I would be served...ok seeing how you dont have my correct address how will you serve me?? lol I told him this and he started telling me yet another address. (which I know longer live in that state) It all started with them calling my mother and them stating that they were suing me and needed to serve me with papers. Then they proceded to call my husband and leave him a voice message.
They are bullies and until they provide me with the debt information I will not deal with them. I actually made the guy so mad he hung up on me. I will follow up with this when I receive the summons and debt info.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

These people actually called my ex-husband's phone number and gave his wife a message to get to me so she called me and gave me this 888-244-9050 number and a file number to refer to when I called them.  So, I call them and spoke with a very nice man on the phone who asked me if I had been served today.  I told him "no" and then he went on to tell me that I sounded like a "good person" and didn't really want to take me to court get judgement against me, so, was I going to be getting a tax refund this year and if so, would I like to make arrangements to pay them.  I told him I didn't know if I was going to be getting a refund or not but that I couldn't make any arrangements right now.  He than asked me what I was willing to do to clear the matter and I told him I was a single working mother with a handicapped child living from pay check to paycheck and there was nothing I could do at this time.  He then told me "ok, I guess we'll just have to go ahead with our suit".  I hung up.

I have a question for those with positive posts regarding this phone number. Why would you take the time to Goggle this number then take the time to post that you are paying them money? Wait! I Know! It's because you and the debt colletors are warm carring human beings looking out for others. Right?

This person was rude and he told me I should received some papers in the mail sometimes ago. Which I never received them. Then he told me I was being sued. Who sue people when the other party doesn't know. ALL I KNOW IS THEY ARE CROSSING THE LINE WHEN THEY START CALLING YOU AT WORK. BILL COLLECTORS SHOULDN'T BE CALLING YOUR EMPLOYER.

I also have a judgement against me from a old credit union debt I owed. I unfortunatly was in prison at the time of my court hearing so I was unable to fight it. I am an indepedendant contractor so they cannot garnish my wages. However they did freeze my checking account. With no warning. I contacted this FULL SPECTRUM LITIGATION COMPANY and spoke to a William Brewer and i now am paying them $250.00 per month until this has been paid in full. I dont know if you can get a judge to lift this judgement against you once it has been placed.

From the days when I was less mature about my finances I created credit card debt which I never paid off and was turned over to a collection agency. Hoping that it would just go into charge off and be off my credit report in several years I ignored it. Over the summer I got papers dropped off at my house saying I had an arbitration hearing scheduled for March 2011. I ignored this and got a letter from the collection agency offering to negotiate a settlement/payment. On June 18th I got another letter, saying that in accordance with some statue here in PA unless I act within 10 days from the date of this notice a judgement may be entered against me without a hearing etc..

  I just realized that the letter I just got from the law firm that the collection agency filed the civil judgement with, the letter says that in accordance with some statue here in PA I have 10 days from the date of this notice to respond. Well apparently it was mailed out more than 10 days after the date on it. Does this mean anything?

     Thanks

I received a civil judgement from this firm not realizing that my paychecks were going to be garnished. I don't even know how I am going to keep my head above water. I only make $360 a week and I have to give these people $90 a week on a $3,962.56 judgement. I am the only one working in my household so this effects my family in a major way. i now have to make payment arrangements with my utility companies just so I can keep electricity and gas and water on. Does anyone have any advice on getting this judgement lifted? Is there any other way to make arrangements with the court? I'm lost...

You have to file an answer before the court date.  It matters whether the bank is suing through a collection company or if it is a debt buyer that is suing you.  They can't always prove you owe the debt or that they own it in court and sometimes they will dismiss it if they think you will fight it.  If it's the bank they probably won't back down.  In any case, filing bankruptcy will put a stop to it all.

You should look into legal aid to answer the suit or to file for bankruptcy, whichever is better for your situation.   If you got a lump sum from SSDI, I would keep it in cash or on a prepaid debit for now.  Arrange to have your direct deposit put on a prepaid card or if they will still send checks you can do that. They can't attach what they can't find.   It will cost you to get the money back if the court lets them garnish your bank account.

I know Social Security is exempt from garnishment but I'm not sure about social security disability.  They may also get a lien on any real estate you have.

http://creditboards.com/forums/ has a lot of information on credit, bankruptcy, lawsuits, etc.

I have never seen one of these companies "pad" so many good things about themselves before. If these people were legitimate, they would not leave illegal detailed messages about a so called "complaint" , nor would they call from a blocked number. Take your scam elsewhere, you will never get a call back from this number! Fools

People called me from a BLOCKED number and left this number to call saying someone was filing charges against me and I had 48 hrs to respond.  This is an Old SCAM that has been around for years.   Also  these other posts are not true..Don't forget people that there is a statute of limitations on debts.    You have a right for a full accounting of the  debt. (Original creditor, dates, amount, etc.)   This SAM person and CINDY P. either are complete idiots or part of the scam themselves.

I dont know what they have on me but I'm not going to call this place back. If I had anything owed to anybody it went to collections and it was buried. I should be suing you guys for invading my privacy. How did you get my phone number and address? You guys are jerks! Call me one more and I will find someone to locate you!
