Received a voice mail 11/23/12 from NewHall (I refuse to answer the phone if I don't know the number). Same type of message, I owe money for a bad check. I've NEVER written a bad check. The threat was a warrant/jail if I didn't call back/respond. I'm still waiting for the police at my door. Thanks "soonercouple" for the web link. The entire website looks fraudulent. No location, nothing. I think they certify themselves. What state is their business registered with? Can we forward this crack stuff to Homeland Security? Surely they would be interested in these "threats to our national security".

Can't provide me with a copy of the alleged check.She said go to the bank and they will have it. Went to bank and they said they don't keep any check from 2004 and that it was so old I needn't worry about if is was paid or not at this point.Advised this was a scam outfit most likely and to just forget it and put fraud alerts on my SS number.

I recieved a call from this lady today who told me i 24 hrs to pay on the worthless check that i wrote back in 2005. when I  asked what bank it was with she named a bank that i have never had an account with. She also gave me the number to the bank in Oregon (where i have never lived) and an account number. so i called them and they told me they didnt know what i was talking about ans if it was from 2005 they couldnt pull it up in their system anyway. This company is a fraud DO NOT GIVE THEM ANYTHING! they even have all of my personal information my DOB and social.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

They are bogus and crazy. Called my mother a worthless piece of trash and a thief. unbelievable. This is a scam because I personally called the owner of the Resturant and he had not record.

Got a call from these people also wasn't sure about it but decided to try and pull up any info I could.  I got the same thing that they were calling about checks and I needed to call the ASAP before criminal charges were filed against me.  I couldn't figure out what she was talking about so I decided to Google the company.  That's when I came across this page along with...   http://newhallassociates.com/index.php.

I got a calL from a Missy Pool from this number yesterday. She left her # and ext & said she was with the "Fraud Investigations Unit" and I needed to call her back immediately to avoid criminal charges being fled against me. I called back and she said I have 3 bad checks from 2005 and that I need to give her my current checking acct info or card# over the phone to pay $700+ immed or she was going to sent it to her "warrant" division. I asked her what company I supposedly wrote the checks to and she gave a name of D mart. Still didnt ring a bell so I asked for the address or location of this D Mart & she didnt have it. So, I then asked her for a mailing address to send a payment to if I found out this is a ligit debt I owe, and she refused saying the ONLY way her "firm" accepts $ is by phone w/checking/card. She even suggested I go to Walmart and get a Prepaid Visa to pay her with. Really? I asked where she was located and she said Houston TX. So I then asked why these checks from 2005 werent sent to the DA's office in Oklahoma (where I live) years ago? And she stuttered & didnt have an answer for me. And she said: I can see you arent going to pay this so you will be arrested, & then she said: do u understand they will come and pick you up and take you to jail? I said: well, I can check online for warrants and I can go in person and pay for a warrant or bad check with CASH and get a RECIEPT and pay what I owe to the state I live in and not to a collection agency. And then she flipped out and started yelling and saying she is not a collection agency, she is a fraud investigator....lol & also....even if she is a "fraud" investigator....there isnt any fraud going on. I dont know if these are my checks, and if they are, I would have written them on MY OWN bank account, not someone elses, and thats not fraud. That is a NSF/Returned/Bogus check, whatever u wanna call it, but not fraud. And she kept saying: the merchant couldnt "find" you and thats why you havent recieved any letters or notices before now...and she kept saying: I found you! I'm like....um.....I havent been hiding anywhere, lol.....she was trying to be very intimidating and its clear she works on commission.

Missy Full, or Cull, something like that... For a day or two she had me really scared... talking warrants, and a 12 hour drive just to go to court to prove i'm innocent. She was very nice until i pulled up the copy of the police report where someone had stolen my checks back in 05 (its now 2012... really). then when she realized she wasnt getting a dime from me she got ugly. Told me it was goin to the DA's office anyway. I said go ahead, I'd already called my friend that works there and he said I had nothing to worry about. Have a nice day!

I feel that it is very rude and disrepectful to receive the type of phone call that I received from Jack Simpson at ext 316 from this 'company'!  There is absolutely no reason in the world for somone to be that much of an unreasonable person over the phone.  I don't care what they are collecting for.  At the beginning of the call, I asked him to take my current address so that I could resolve this matter.  He proceeded to give me the old address and I can not understand how he could be so "crazy", I'm giving you the correct info to contact me and you would rather get into a yelling match.... it doesn't matter, he gets paid hourly and so did I when I worked at a "collection agency".
