When I left my apartment they said the last month's utilities will be sent to my new address. 80 dollars total for garbage and water.  Three weeks after I move out The bill was straight from the collection agency. I was never late paying. The rent collect people called and said I have 10 hours to pay or my credit was going to suffer.  My only notice came with 10 hour notice to pay.

You are a loser in a low life, dead end job who feels important. You obviosly have NO idea why these people are being sent to collections. I paid my rent on time monthly, when i moved out, i was nickel and dimed with NO proof of the allegations. Also, google the use of their vs there. As i said before, low life dead end job...

Have your grandson dispute the charges as fraudulent immediately - you should NEVER pay any caller unless they have MAILED a debt validation letter showing that (1) you owe a debt and that (2) they have the legal right to collect said debt.  Refusal to mail this documentation within five days of the first call is a violation of federal law - the FDCPA.  And per, the FDCPA, unless your grandson receives this MAILED proof of debt, he definitely should not pay!

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Debt Collector
This company tricked my 20 year old grandson into giving them his debit card number and he did not have the money to pay anything, has never seen a written itemized bill at all as to what they are trying to collect.  I called on his behalf and let them have it. I told them they had better not charge his card, they had better send an itemized statement or we would be contac ting an attorney. Of course they couldn't share any information with me without his permission so I am having him call this Monday and join me in the call. We will be telling them the same thing. That is harrasment and falsification and in our state that is against the law. IF they do not send an itemized bill that we agree is legitimate, we will be calling the better business bureau, an attorney that deals with this type of crap and setting this straight! Anyone with any inside information about this company would be  very helpful! Thanks!

her and It was from a debt collector saying that I owed them money for apartment damages and the stuff she
told me were not true she started yelling at me for no reason so I told her do not ever call me at work again and that
I wanted copy of the letter and she wasn't going to send it to me.so I hung up. I want them stopped from harassing people.

I really hope this is not really a CEO of the company, because if so you might want to hire some PR help. The fact that you come off as having zero class, business sense, or professionalism of any kind speaks volumes of your "company". I, by he way, am not one of the many people you have obviously harassed and just the one single 5 sentenced blip has me thinking if the BBB was contacted it might do some good for many people. Grow up and take some responsibility for your attitude towards the people you have to communicate with just as much as you want them to take responsibility for the debt they have accrued. Respect goes a long way in every situation and i'm sure its a huge gulp to swallow when someone gets a debt call and so handling these stressed people with care should be apart of your job description. Get your head out of your selfish zone and learn to communicate better and i'm sure your work day will be much less argumentative.

You are wrong, go read the FDCPA regulations put out by the FTC.  Regardless of who answers, the caller can state the following:  who they are calling for; who they are; the name of the company calling; and that this is an attempt to collect a debt. They cannot go any further than that without permission of the party who owes the debt. I have received debt collection calls to my home phone for someone I have never heard of before but the caller does provide the above information including that the purpose of the call is to collect a debt either to my answering machine or directly to me if I answer live.
