I received a call from this number on my cell phone.  They left a message saying that they were calling from Merchants Credit with a business matter and gave a phone number and direct extension.  I called them back and they told me that there were calling about a past due medical bill.  

This is a collection agency that specializes in medical bills.  

I picked up the phone and all I heard was what I can describe as rapid fire flatulence!!!

I hung up.

This is a bill collector calling regarding a medical debt, mine is from Cincinnati Children's Hospital.  (it was taken care of a long time ago but you cannot talk to these people.)  Just keeping ignoring them unless you know how to fix the situation.  They operate under different names, 2 I have found are:

besides this number, i have received messages from several 888 and 800 numbers.  they are calling for a specifc person and it is not me.  i tell them it is not me but they say this is the number. i explain that is probably the person who had the phone number before me, that i have had this number for 10 months and i am not the person they are looking for.  they say they will take me off the list which lasts a couple of months and then it starts again.  

Highly illegal activity.  Probably identity theft.  They call without any information on a harassment level that legally warrants a restraining order, and I have never answered their call, have a generic voice message, and owe nothing to anyone.  Do not answer or like all other scam artists they will only call you more often.  Most importantly, do not give them any information.  

P.S. Any legitimate business will leave a message and already have your information.

when the called it showed united states, i believe its the government cuz i asked who it was she told me some numbers and her name so i hung up

I've started getting calls - I have no debt, no credit cards outstanding, no mortgages, no bills & I'm retired. They can KMA - I don't answer my land-line phone!

A female left a voicemail speaking in what sounded like Chinese, then said something in English about debt collection, and left a contact number. The connection was bad and the voicemail message kept breaking up. I recently got a new phone number and I have no clue who the caller was trying to reach as they didn't ask for a name in the voicemail. It sounds like a scam to me.

I receive frequent calls from 888-249-3811.  I called the tel. no. the message said to call if I was not the person they were trying to contact and when I called I was told that they never use pre-recorded call messages, but only call in person. I asked them to stop calling me.  They haven't.  I asked that calls from this number be blocked but the block did not work because they changed the Voice Mail Number.  They do not have their tel. no. listed under their name. This is bad business if not illegal.

This same company kept calling my number and it actually did go to my credit report.  Now, I have to pay this very old medical bill that was never paid.

this is Merchants' Credit Guide Co, they had the wrong number here but they are looking for people to pay their bills.

Received a call from this number saying it was a debt collector to deal with a personal matter.  Funny thing is, I checked my credit report last week, all Kosher.  Called back out of curiosity.  They had my maiden name, an old address and the wrong birthday...asking for clarification.  Seems fishy to me.

I get a call from this number every day. Some times a very rude message and sometimes no message at all. They yell at me basically in a threatening voice on my voice mail

Keep rec'g calls from 888-249-3811 at all diff hrs but they never leave any message & caller ID won't show a name.

Has anyone especially any woman been receiving calls from this number.  Only to have them silent on the other line.

Persistant medical debt collector

These pricks took $5000 from me. Said it was for old student loans. How can i get help? I am on my 2nd tour over seas, and it is not easy to worry about this and my missions. This is causing much strain on my married life. Please, any help would be nice.

Calling me several times per week despite a bankruptcy stay. I have referred them to my attorney. They said they will keep calling. Today Patricia wanted me to confirm personal info. Told her she could have the number of my attorney, and that I'm suing them. She started to yell, so I ended the call with a choice couple of words.

Received several calls from this number on my cell, advised caller to remove my number from the calling list.  And that my number is reported on the do not call list.

This is a debt collection agency called Merchants Crredit, it is a "legit: company, Unfortunately we have an account with  them when we fell behind on a medical bill. Actuallty, they were willing to work with us in setting up a payment plan. But they still call us even wh8en we make our payments.

I've been getting calls from this number every day for months now.  It's rare anyone even leaves a message, but when they do, they say they are trying to collect a debt.  I have no outstanding debt, medical or otherwise, so I'm not calling them back.  I would've received something in the mail from somebody if I owed them money.  These scammers really tick me off!
