I received a text to call 88883144407 telling me that my credit union debit card was deactivated. I am not a member of the credit union. I also got another text stating that " Ecount Citi prepaid has deactivated your 4801-56XX-XXXX-XXX DebitCard. To reactivate call 8888416480.
I know that this is some sort of phishing scam being that I don't have an account at either bank. I tried calling to see what it was but I got one of those "This number isn't working" messages.

A friend & I receied the same text regarding the same thing and my friend also received a 2nd text. Neither of us have a debit card from this bank nor do we share the same bank. so Don't call the number it has to be a scam. They sent 2 different numbers, one was disconnected and the other no one answered, we used a safe phone.

I have received 4 text msg within 3 days stating the same. I don't have an account with them! two different phone #'s 866-867-2117 and 877-864-6257

03/23 Got the same message as below on my cell phone.No idea how anyone got the number. Also do not have an account. Called number - rang once and then hung up. Of coarse even if someone had answered, I would not have given any personal information or number out.
Anyone have any idea what kind of scam this is? What are they hoping to gain?

"03/23/09 Alert: Your Central Bank of Kansas City DebitCard has been blocked. Please contact us immediately at 8882578629"
I do not even have a debit card with the Central Bank of Missouri.
