If you have a Ligit bill pay it I don't understand why there is so much misinformation on the message boards. If you don't want to pay then so be it. There maybe some evil debt collectors out there but you know if you owe it or not regardless of how old it is. We get upset when they call and ask for payment even if it's out of stat but stats show that if you don't pay your obligation regardless of how old it is chances are you will let that behavior move into other areas of our lives.

My sister got a call last week for a Michael Bush at Allstate Mediation. He stated she wrote a bad check at a payday loan place back in 2007. He threatened her saying they know she did it on purpose and if she didn't pay them $290 that she would be sued and served with court papers. When she asked him for some sort of paperwork on it they told her they couldn't send it to her until she paid them. Needless to say they scared her into payment plan but luckily she gave them a prepaid visa card number. This sounds like a scam to me so I told her not to pay them anymore money and to contact the local FBI office.

I received a call from Allstate mediation stating I owed a loan from 2007 from Loan Point USA on an account that had been closed for awhile. They said I owed over a 1000.00 but would settle for 504.00 if I decided to settle out of court. They threatend to have me arrested and have fraud charges put against me. They had all my information and a place of employment I never worked at. I made the mistake and allowed them to take a payment out of my account. A couple days later my cousin called me and said the same thing happened to him and that it was a scam. I called Allstate Mediation and asked if I could have the paperwork that the loan company supposely sent them and they said that they were only allowed to give me paper work on my payment arrangements. Thats BULL.... I called the FTC and filed a claim, the BBB and I put a fraud alert on my SS#. These people should be ashamed and get a real ligit job and stop stealing money from honest people.

I rec'vd a call at my place of employement from a woman by the name of  Courtney, she was really rude and provided no information except that "She would come pick my a** up" - her exact words and gave me the # to contact for more information.

I spoke with some man, who was nice at first, but became angry, loud, and even screamed for me to "Shutup" when I told him I didn't have the funds to pay the full balance at the time. I explained that I could setup payments, but wanted to do it with someone else. He said he didn't trust me and wouldn't setup payments.

I finally got ahold of the Compliance Mgmt. who was much nicer. I don't think this is a scam, because I knew I hadn't paid the online payday loan off. Since loans are secured with ACH (electronic check) its a crime to write bad checks - I settles for $300 on $400 loan - with two payments of $150 at the end of each month.

IT MAY BE A SCAM BASED ON AN OLD DEBT THEY HAVE BOUGHT OFF OF A CREDITOR, BUT IT IS A SCAM REGARDLESS. IN MY CASE, I APPLIED FOR A PAYDAY LOAN AND WAS DENIED. THE COMPANY THAT ALLSTATE MEDIATION IS REPRESENTING (AND THREATENING ME WITH JAIL TIME AS WELL AS TELLING MY BOSS I AM BEING CHARGED FOR FRAUD), IS THE SAME COMPANY THAT FRAUDULENTLY TRIED TO DEBIT $380 FROM MY ACCOUNT CAUSING ME TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT AND REOPEN A NEW ONE, AND FILE A FRAUD CLAIM AGAINST AND AN ID THEFT REPORT ON MY CREDIT FILE. ID SAY THIS COMPANY IS NOT VERY LEGIT, WOULDNT YOU??
A. THEIR TACTICS ARE ILLEGAL
B. THEY REPRESENT SCAM ARTISTS (PAYDAY LOAN COMPANIES WHO HAVE ILLEGAL BUSINESS PRACTICES)
C. I HAVE NOT BEEN CHARGED WITH ANYTHING AND SINCE WHEN DOES ANYONE WHO WANTS TO FILE CHARGES AGAINST YOU, WANT TO DISCUSS IT WITH YOU FIRST??
D. THEY DONT HAVE MY ADDRESS TO SERVE ME, BUT THEY SAY IF I DONT COMPLY I WILL BE PICKED UP AND TAKEN TO JAIL??

LOLOLOL!!! JUST CALL ME 'TERRIFIED IN TEXAS'...

These scammers are calling my job, threating to me AND MY BOSS that I will go to jail if I dont confirm all personal information. claiming to be ALLSTATE MEDIATION working for LOAN POINT USA. I dont have any outstanding loans, ontop of the fact that these people recently tried to debit my account for 380. I had to close my account and reopen a new one. I unfortunately (and will never again) applied online for a payday loan and was DENIED. But once they deny you, they already have all of your info and will do what they chose!! I told them I knew it was a scam, and if they really needed to serve me- then they can go right ahead. I had someone call them back and state that they were my 'lawyer'. If you get these calls again, tell them you need to be emailed or mailed something in writing so that your lawyer can review the paperwork. If they dont have your address- well... kind of speaks for itself, right? And if they do- tell them to bring it on!! Bet they wont!!

Vanessa, This is a lot of crap. They are stating that the loan I was supposed to have taken was done on a computer from a company that I hadn't worked at for almost 5 months. If you gave them money then shame on you unless you are just one of their workers posting stuff on here to try to ramp up their business. They wouldn't even give me proof and then got mad because I was recording the conversation and then hung up as soon as I told them I would have my lawyer call them.

I received a call today, around Noon from a Robert Allen, stating I had a file with a Mediation office and only had one chance to remedy the issue, before he processed the documentation to have me served at my place of residence or place of employment. He told me that I would have to contact the office at an 855-693-3682 number and gave me an extension. He also told me that the papers that he had in his office would be filed and I would have to go to court or be arrested for the file he had. He told me to call and WISHED ME LUCK!!!!
I know I have a payday loan that Ihave yet to pay back from around 4 years ago (or maybe longer), SO I called the number (around 8pm today), and got a recording stating it was Allstate Mediation and if I knew the extension to dial it or press "0" for the operator... I pressed the extension and it cycled back through to the original message and then I pressed "0" and got a vm box... Asking to leave a message with my name, time I called and file # I was calling in regards to. I did not do this (should I have??) I will try to call them again but I am not sure how legit this is...
I need proof, of all sorts before I pay anyone anything.. Money is tight as it is... I dont need to be threatened over something that I may or may not get proof of. Noone will get my banking information unless I pay it myself and no one ever gets to take money out of my account but me. I know better than that, cuz once they start, they dont stop....
I will continue to call and see what comes of it. I know it cant be legal to do business this way. I cannot find anything about Allstate Mediation on teh internet and that alone is enough for me to think this is a scam. Well first contact was today, no company name beside Allstate Mediation was given (and that wasnt even given, I found that out when I called the number left on my VM.. The guy just said it was with a Mediation office that I needed to contact ASAP)...
There was no mention of how much I owed, no company name, no duration of the time the company had it and nothing that told me what it was for other than a file taht would be processed for arrest or court... HHHHHMMMMMMMMMMM

AllState Mediation is absolutely a scam.

The date they gave me for my loan is NOT the date that matched with the documentation I had. When I told them I had proof that everything was paid I told them I would call them back. I called them back and provided them with all the information. They said the account number I provided was invalid and I would have to call the agency I paid through directly.

I contacted the agency and they asked for the AllState Mediation number so that we could all be conferenced in. When he tried calling AllState Mediation it would not go through. I then called AS Mediation through my home phone. She said that she could certainly conference in the other agency. When she did AllState Mediation was no longer on the line.

It is a scam pure and simple and the representative from the other agency said so.

Debt collection agencies are not allowed to threaten legal action over the phone. It is illegal and a scare tactic so people can pay on loans they already paid off or worse they pay for a loan that they never made.

If you dont beleive my post ask for proof from AllState Mediation. Ask them to provide you with information regarding this claim.

Beware of the people who say that Allstate are legit on here. They really work for Allstate Mediation and pretend to be people who did business with them. You can't Google them and all that comes up are complaints against them and if you ask for the court hearing to be sent in writing they will not do it. By law they have to do this. In fact a company would never call you first they would just mail it. It really is a scam. BEWARE!!

I received a call from 855-405-7945 which is a toll free number and I assumed it's the same number as these other numbers that you came up with.  It's the allstate mediation co from where, I don't know.  I asked for their address and she gave me a PO BOX number out of redding,ca.  they called a member of my family saying that they have a warrant for a arrest.  They also gave out personal information out to non-family member.  I've filed complaint with the BBB in California because they refused to submit a copy of all documents pertaining to this payday loans that was made and he/she refused and they gave out personal information to a non-family member.  The way this person talked, sound like he's gay because he was talking crazy that I couldn't understand what he/she was saying.  My suggestion is to all of you, don't go soft on these people.  If they want to be rude, throw it right back at their faces because they will hang up in your face.  They are rude and they talked crazy.  Not sure if this company is legit but I will find out through BBB.  When they called, they say the same thing as to the rest of you guys.  Just go off on them if you are not familiar with what they are calling you for.  Just chew them out!!!!  I'm planning on filing a complaint with FTC after BBB if I don't get the copies that I requestd.  He/she was saying that he will not send anything out of the building.

Both logical... and Questionable? are scammer shills. If you had *real* debts (and you *knew* you had real debts) then you'll have to pay up. No need to whine about believing posters who report it as a scam because they were being extorted for debt they never owed.

"they pretty much give you only a few days to respond and make arrangements before they serve you with papers" is a *LIE* because *real* debt collectors, per section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf *must* tell you at initial contact, or send you paperwork within 5 days of initial contact, the following:
1. $amount of debt,
2. name of the current creditor (which may differ from the original creditor who might have sold your debt),
3. a statement that that debt will be assumed to be valid unless you dispute in writing within 30 days,
4. a statement that that if you do dispute in writing within 30 days, the collector must mail you written verification of the debt,
5. a statement that if you ask the collector in writing within 30 days, the collector must send you the name and address of the original creditor if it's different from the current creditor.
If you don't get the 5 disclosures, orally or in writing (you do not have to ask for them, the FDCPA requires collectors to provide them), treat the collector like you would any SCAMMER.
Has the statute of limitations for your state http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/SOL-by-State.html expired on your debt? If expired, don't pay.
Collectors generally have to be licensed by your state to practise (collect debt) in your state and you can find out by calling your state Attorney Generals Office. Ask if a license is required and does this collector have one. If not licensed, don't pay and file a complaint.

Nonsense. Of course this is a scam. Using the threat of court action to collect debt is *ILLEGAL* according to the FTC here http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm  Collectors who commit illegal actions in collecting debt will be treated as scammers.

Has anyone figured out who these people are because I have had harrassing calls from a girl named Desiree Hall saying she was going to serve papers to me and she has called me numerous times. I actually had to call the police dept. When they got here she called again and I told her it was harrassment and the cop standing infront of me agrees she said she would personally serve the papers and I told her, infront of the cop, that this is MY land and she is not welcome here and that was her only warning. she then said she will go wherever she want -_- !! She lost her mind!!! I am the crazy woman that does not allow strangers around here!!!!!! I told her, again infront of the cop, that I have 200 acres of land. I then smiled and hung up. I haven't had a call since... Maybe a threat is what she needed.

My parents received a call from a "Cheryl" at AllState Mediation and informed them over an answering machine they need to call with my contact information and my work address to be served, and to also consider this as a notice of being serve3d. I called them back over a 3 day period of no answers and finally received one. They were not able to find my information until 3 transfers later and stated I owed BorrowCashNow $600ish dollars. I informed them her I had not debt with this company and she told me to tell it to the judge. I called BorrowCashNow to see if I had any outstanding debt I was unaware of and she informed me there system had been hacked and to not release any information to these people. The operator apologized and informed me I am not the only one. Since then I have informed the State Attorney General with all the information I have which is not much. If anybody has anything other than a phone number please let me know. The Dept. of Revenue also do not show this company as a legit business.

I do not believe this is a legit mediation firm.  My situation is similar to above, except I did not take a loan from the company they were saying I took a loan from.  But, they had all of my information and just like Vanessa above describes, they offered to drop the locator fees ($200) for me.  On the phone the only thing they would say is that I took out a loan from quick911cash.com - I have taken out loans before but not with that company and all of my loans are current.  She promised to email me all of the pertinent information regarding their claim against me within 24 hours of the withdrawl to my account.  Well, I fell for it...they took the money out of my account and then I get a call today from a different number (going by a company name of Global) and the person I talked to gave me a speech almost identical to the person I spoke with at Allstate Mediation yesterday.  I am filing a police report today.
