I've never had an account with Wells Fargo or Bank of America but they call at odd hours with a recorded message about my card being deactivated.

Same thing! I would never authorize a charge like this! Exactly $429 I got charged. If it wouldn't of been for this website, I would have waited for "ID Safe" to call me back (and I'm sure that would of taken a while, if ever). We are now in dispute so we just have to wait and see. I have an MBNA card and I do shop online often. Amazon, Overstock, Ebay, are just a few.

This number appeared on my credit card statement as "01/08/08 ID SAFE 888-2616045 NV $429.00".  They claim they are a identity theft security firm and that this is an annual service being renewed.  I told them that I never signed up for any such service and they said that perhaps someone else signed up on my behalf.  They then hung up on me.  Attempts to redial the number resulted in them disconnecting me.

I just notice this charge on my capitol one master card credit card statement. I didn't recall making any transactions lately or anything from ID SAFE 888-2616045 NV $429.00. I searched online and found this post; I called my credit card company and report the charge and cancelled my card. Thanks for posting this.

Recieved B of A statement with same 429.00 charge. Called B of A they said they didnt know anything about it, but advised I NOT cancel the card because it may be an error. I disputed the charge, and did not cancel. Now I see all of this !!. So yesterday I was able to get through to ID Safe where a very strange sounding and somewhat rude woman tried to convince me that I needed the service. I responded quite hostile, that she had no authorization to charge my card and that Ive never done business with them. She gave me the 07VoluntaryRefund reference number, now I'll wait the 3-5 days for the refund she says is coming. ADVICE - CANCEL YOUR CARDS !!!!!! THEY STILL HAVE YOUR CC NUMBER

I found not one, but two charges @ 429.00 each.  Thought the first one had something to do with my wife's business travel, and didn't bother to check.
Saw the second one this morning and found this web-site.  Tried the "888" phone number and got a recorded message.
The charges were on my wife's Chase Debit card that she often uses @ Marshalls.

Got the same charge on my Bank of America Mastercard back in January.  Since I have automatic alerts, I notified B of A immediately and they said they would reverse the charge and investigate immediately.  Unfortunately they talked me out of cancelling the card at that time.  Well, a month later, I got TWO hits for $429 on the same card, same ID Safe payee.  I cancelled the card and initiated another investigation.   We've charged at TJ Maxx and Marshalls (related) using this card in addition to autopays for Dish Network, Onstar, Verizon and others.

I had the same charge for ID SAFE in January and then again on the day that I called to disupte the charge when we got our bill in February.
This was on a card that we hadn't used for >6 months and had a 0 balance (I thought I had closed it.).  No idea how someone got the number...

I still can not figure out how they got my cc number other than online shopping.  I never got a phone call from this number.

I found out because I charged airline tickets and Continental called me to say the charge would not go through.

Chase bank (mastercard) knew about the fraud because they had a hold on my account for online and phone transactions.  I was still able to use the card for purchases in person.  Chase immediately cancelled the card.

Here's the fun part.  I have now made it my mission to repeatedly call this number and speak with the "customer serivce" woman.  I ask her how she got my number, how she is going to like jail (she says she is not going to jail because she is 'magic'), what she is going to think when the police show up and arrest her - things like that. Sometimes when the answering machine picks up, I simply press the pound key until the time expires.

I figure that it costs them to receive these calls, so I am going to make as many as possible until I get bored with them.

I got a charge on my Wells Fargo Visa for $429.  We had not been using this card very often and found it very strange that it was on there.  It is listed as "ID Safe 888-2616045".  I called Wells Fargo and they said that it did seem odd.  We are now disputing the charge.  I know for sure that I did not make a $429 purchase from this company. Beware!!!

Yesterday, my wife and I found that ID SAFE had hit our checking account three times in the past week and a half - $429. each time. After submitting a fraud report our bank, the customer service rep. backed out the unauthorized charges. We suspect that the compromise was somehow connected to a cash advance we made at a casino the day before the first unauthorized charge. The ID SAFE folks should be banging around pots & pans in a penal institution.

Just got my Feb BOA statement...$429 ID SAFE NV. The only common thread so far is Amazon. My computer security is excellent so I doubt I've been compromised there, as these people do not seem sophisticated enough for that kind of hacking. It has to be a breach somewhere else.

Didn't get a call, but there's a $465 charge & then reversal on my credit card.. from ID Protect, but same 888 number... also showing a NV location.  Even though it seems the charge was reversed, we're changing card numbers immediately... not playing games with these clowns... they still have my card #...

Had 2 charges for $465 each on my debit card from Identity Protect. No reversals though. One charge on 2/21, one on 2/25. Put a block on the card before they could charge it again. Disputing the charge through my bank. Keep calling the 888 number, but keeps ringing busy. Wish I knew how they got my card info!

Appeared on my MasterCard as a charge of $465, dated 02/21.  Thank you for all the informative posts.  I have alerted my credit card company and they have taken care of it.  Warned them they'll probably be hearing from other customers...

We got the same thing.  Identity theft protection 888-261-6045 NV $429 was posted to our credit card today.  I have been trying to call this number and I keep getting a busy signal.  I called my credit card company and I'm disputing the charge.  We have only made one online purchase with this card and that was in October.  All of our other purchases are from stores.  We did the same thing and cancelled the account.  I was really happy to see that I'm not the only one with this problem.

I never got a call, but I had a charge on 3/7.  They messed up, though, because they charged my debit card, not an actual credit card so I found out that same day and put a hold on my account and placed a claim with my bank. I got my money back in 3 business days.  But, how did they get my card number?  I am a frequent shopper at Marshalls and I have made 1 online purchase 2/8, but I pay my bills online all the time.  The number is currently busy.

No calls. 4 charges 429 each.  2 from IDsafe, 2 from IDENTITY PROTECT.  Disputed with bank, getting credit.
Regarding ShipStore.com, I did go to their site once recently.  I recall starting to order something, but changed my mind.  Don't recall any more than that just now.

Had a charge for 429.00 from "ID Safe" also.  Does anyone know if the people responsible have been caught or charged yet, or how they and where they got the information from.  They got my debit it card number and it seriously screwed up my bank account.  Found out about the charge after a couple of checks bounced.  I would appreciate any info anyone has.  Thanks.

I just checked my card statement and found a $429 charge and two $1.00 charges from IDENTITY PROTECT.  I tried calling the numbers listed on the charge statement and got a busy signal, a phone mail for Benefits USA, and another asking for account support information.  SCAM!
