THIS IS NOT AOL!!!!!!

I worked for them for 14 years, back in the day when they were really THE AOL.

This is yet another bunch of Low Life Spam-hackers that are using AOL just like they are using your Bank, credit cards, your Dead Uncle, Nigerian Whatever, You Won the Scottish Lotto, or "you friend sent you Facebook pics" to try to scam you into calling a number, clicking a link, or putting your data in so they CAN STEAL YOUR IDENTITY and INFO. This is one of those "call us with your AOL tech issues" that are based in India or Who knows where and charges by the minute, and ends up hacking your comp. YOU end up with a bill of $400 for their "help".  They have these "services" for Pogo, Farm Frenzy..any game, app or site out there. They pay big $ to be listed and ranked #1 on search engines. It is a SCAM and they are NOT part nor sanctioned by the sites they are claiming to be a part of. BEWARE and RUN.

AOL IS FREE and you do not need to DO anything.  If you are stupidly paying for  it these days, then go to THE official AOL site, look for THE official place to get AOL numbers or info IF you need help is at :   http://help.aol.com/help/microsites/microsite.do

NEVER ever ever, EVER ever and I mean EVER click on a link that is sent to you in email from any of these companies. If I had 3 pages I would dis-assemble these emails and teach you how to see how utterly phoney they are and how to see how the links don't go to where they seem to, how the pics/gifs are copied and forged and how it is all utter BS> and of COURSE always come here to this great site to look for info. :)

The best way to avoid trouble to to forget the email and go pick up the phone and CALL if you have a problem and your bank, credit card, etc claims they have an issue. These people are scum, including the person posting the same ad on these boards telling you it's ok! Got balls, pal!

Good for you.  There only seems to be one rule of thumb these days and that is to n ever give any information to anyone who 'phones.  The only thing to do if they claim to be a legitimate company is 'phone .that company back using a number you can trust.
It's sad that you can't trust anyone these days.

Contact AOL directly and ask them what, if anything, they know about this e-mail.  If they are not involved then ask them to  change your information .

I received the same type of message,, unbelievable as it's 4 YEARS after the initial post. When I saw the message, it just didn't make sense so I "googled" the phone number and saw all of the warnings. Thank you!
Moral of the story: never click on any link or attachment in an email if you're unsure of its validity and check it out!

Here's the message:

I got the same message, called the number and got someone from the Phillipines, as the first question I asked was "what country are you in".   I hung up, looked up an aol # online and waited 12 min, got tired of waiting for an aol rep (who wants my money monthly) & hung up.  I will cancel the paid service which hopefully will stop these messages.

MOST CERTAINLY A SCAM -- All the links are bogus.
Where to report it @ AOL ????
It's almost impossible to access AOL live.

It's inexcusable that AOL can't intercept this scam !!!

Why the hell can't AOL intercept and stop this repeated scam-spam?
The link to AOL is bogus; and now I see the Phone No is too.
-- and I probably got a (888) charge on my phone-bill.

Of course I can't even find "AOL Security" to report this.
Arrrrrrrrrgh.

This is a scam phone number. Do not call it. You will be charged for the call.
It is a few X AOL support employees from India that are phishing for your credit card information. Do not ever give out your credit card information or any other information about you or your family and friends. There are terrorist still around that would like your information as well.. Use your head. If it doesn't seem right it most likely isn't

Received the same error message that most of you have refeerd to here -  this happened before a few months ago.  If you click on your "favorites" and locate the "billing information" icon you can verify what aol has on file for you.  I did that last time and DID NOT respond to the warning message which I thing is a hoax.  My aol account is still running and I will not respond to this hoax this time either.

This is so silly.  I've had the same AOL e-mail address since 1992 and this is the first time I've ever seen anything like this.  AOL email accounts are FREE.  I can't help but wonder if any AOL customer wouldn't know this.  Some crooks are really, really stoopid.

Got the same email wanting to update the billing information. I called the above number and it sounded fishy to me so I called AOL at their real number and she said it is not from AOL and they would never ask for that info by email and she gave me an email address to forward this to.
