They just did the same thing today at my workplace.  Though the other girl in my office clearly gave them her name, they still proceeded to tell her that they were trying to collect a debt from me.  Again, is this legal??

I have been receiving harrasment calls from 888 267 4834 since February.  They tell me a uniform officer will be coming to serve me papers to appear in court for some credit card debt.  I also have called the # to be informed it serves many offices and will not give me specifics.  How do I file a complaint with my Attorneys office in Florida?  I am tired of being stalked by these preditors.  According to the FDCPA a letter requesting the calls to stop should be sent, well it does not work.  In my research I found that there is a statue of limitation for the original debtor to collect and if this was my debt it is past the statue.

This company just called me saying they were going to "serve me with papers". I had the same situation I have been reading from all of you. They didn't want to give me information but I asked where I was calling and they said "CHMA" and the phone number was 1-888-556-2319. I had a bad feeling about them already somthing didn't seem right. Now I know it's a scam thank you so much for the info!!

They called me yesterday and today and even emailed me a document with all my account numbers etc for the billing they said I was being served papers for.  THANK YOU all so much for documenting your stories as I almost paid them.

Jason Price from Private Processing Division in Winnebago County said it was their second attempt to serve papers from an officer in Winnebago County.  They gave a case number

They called my daughters cell looking for my oldest daughter.  Stated they were with the Ashland Cty Processing dept. (Ohio) and were needing contact information for my daughter.  Gave me the same 888-267-4834 for her to call them as they needed to send someone out to deliver ligation papers too.

hmmm.  I checked on the Ashland cty docket under her name and "case no."  Nothing.  Zero. Zip.  Called them back and the receptionist stated they are an outsourcing company for 10 different attorneys.  Sent me on to "Tara" who was extremely rude when I mentioned the number of people that say this number is a scam.  Said I can believe whatever I wanted and when I mentioned I went on the county website to look up her name & so-called case number, she stated that the case is "pending" so it wouldn't show up and hung up.  

Contacted the County court house...they don't make calls to look for you.  If you are being served they would not call you first, they send a uniformed sheriff deputy who serves the paper work.  There is nothing on the dockets for her.  

"Pending" litigation means there would be a case number and it would be filed at the court house.  So if you hear this crap, make sure you check with your county courthouse.  DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION. For all you know they can steal your identity.

well, I received a second call from these yahoo's, this time from a guy named Tyler Smith. I asked to speak with Tyler and was connected to someone else who wouldn't reveal his name but did state he was the "office manager"....funny, I don't recall the Courts having an "office manager" nor a "toll free number".  I asked to review my notes as I requested a certified letter about this "supposed" debt, his response, "what ever" and hung up!  I've already filed a complaint with the FTC and will be doing it again.

They discussed my debt with a family member without my consent and totally upset them and me to say the least.  My financial situation is a private matter.  I have contacted an attorney.  When "Valerie" with "DRCC" called me back to see if I was going to "handle this legal matter" I told her the attorney I had hired said not to have any dealings with her company whatsoever and in fact we had been trying to fax something to them at the fax number on the documentation she had faxed to me but it would not go through...it would just ring and ring.  She gave me the same fax number and said yes by all means please do fax any documentation to them at "CHMA" which is a totally different company name than she said in prior conversations.  I guess their company name changes as often as their phone numbers...I had been given three different phone numbers in the three week period I had conversed with her.  I almost paid these people over $1600 and am so glad I did not.  Check out the news today regarding the debt collector scam (http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/02/21/authorit ... ilked-millions/).  Some coincidence huh?

I scrolled through this blog and found a link in a post and it took me to the form to fill out.  Keep searching...it's worth it to fill out on them.  Also...a huge story broke in the news today about a scam ring and I'll get it had something to do with these people.  Funny how it was linked to payday loan applications and these scam artists kept referencing the town I lived in (over 8 years ago) when I used one of those!

I had about 4 messages on my voicemail for my sister (who does NOT live with me, and never has) stating they wanted to have a uniformed officer serve her.  Thanks for the info people!  Here I've been thinking she's gotten herself into trouble again....

UPDATE!!!!  

The person who called me stated she was "Nicole Carter" from the "Contra Costa County Court House" in the "Litigations Department."  I did some investigating this morning and call the courts, there is no "Nicole Carter" nor do they ever say "Contra Costa County Court House".  They advised me to contact my local authorities to file a police report for harassment and misrepresentation.  They also had me talk to an "official court" member in regards to this situaion, I have forwarded the voice mail over to them and they will handle accordingly.  

I called the the number back later and asked for "Nicole Carter" and the front desk receptionist doesn't know who this person is...SCAM!!!!

I got the same call...it was a blocked number and then and they asked me to call back an 888-267-4834 number but when they answered, it wasn't the court house.  The message they left threatened to send a uniformed law enforcement to my home and work to serve me for a legal matter.  I called the number and the guy said they sent me a letter for a credit card back a few weeks ago offering a settlement.  I thought it was a mistake and offered to clear it up and asked them to send me another letter certified mail.  They wanted my email address but I refused to provide that saying I wanted something "official" and delivered certified mail, he suddenly hung up.  

I Googled the phone number and obviously found it a scam.  BEWARE!!!!

I got a restricted call first saying I was being served and they needed to schedule a time for a uniformed officer to come by and have me sign papers. They said if I needed to speak to anyone to call 888-267-4834 and reference a file number. I did so and there was no answer, tried again with no luck and could not reach the operator. I called the sheriff office to see if they had any information as I had NO idea what this was all about and thought it was just going to be a mistake and wanted it cleared up. They had no clue! I googled the number and found lots of posts like the earlier ones here and have found out it is a HUGE scam! I guess there have been cases where they ask for your social security number and such! Scary Scam!

Well I recently recieved a call for an X boyfriend from these people.  They are STUPID!!  Anyone knows you do not get warned a head of time that there will be an officer coming out to serve you, how stupid!  I do have a condition that this could of caused me to end up in the hospital had I not known this was a total scam.  How do they live with themselves?!  What low life scum bags!!

I am getting the same call; from a firm representing CHMA (which I just heard of today). They have been calling me for over 6 months now threatening to send an officer out to serve papers. Ok, if you haven't by now, why should I believe you. They don't even have my correct address so you can assume they don't work for a "real" debt collection agency. Also, they ask for your social security number; I ask them for their's; I told them they don't need to know; that's personal information. Then they ask if they have the right address; I reply the same way - if they share their's I'll share mine. They finally gave me CHMA's number; when the receptionist answered it was simply "How may I direct your call?"; no company name; I had to ask twice to get CHMA out of her - very rude.

I am totally with you. The time limit has been up in my state and they are constantly calling me; I finally got them to tell me the company name. I have had about enough of them.

I took a call from a "Private" caller id.  The caller stated that he was a process server and he wanted to verify my address in order to serve the "papers".  I asked if he was an officer of the court.  He said yes.  I asked "operating out of what county?"; he said Oakland.  I asked why then didn't that information appear on my caller id?  He then have me a number to call 888-267-4834.

These dirtbags have tried the same tactics on me twice!!!  They said they were sending an officer over with papers.  I am still waiting!!  They actually told people at my job that they were trying to collect a debt from me...Is this legal?  And do I have any recourse?

Got what should be my final call from these "mysterious" people today.  I say that because this whole time they have been referring to themselves as DRCC (Direct Resource Capital Corp.) and today she stated when I answered the phone that she was with CHMA.  I informed her that I had sought legal counsel and upon their advice would not be dealing with them directly, would record any correspondence and they were not to contact me at my place of employment ever again.  She gave me an extension for my attorney to call their legal team at 888-267-4834 x201 a Mr. Craig Bennett??  She never was rude on the phone but seemed in a big hurry to hang up.

I just had the  same call 3X's by the way at my employer! so sweet...I will save these just incase i need them later :). as for a debt.... ha! what ever! and for the previous post! from the collector....great job.... and I dare for you to keep calling..... before you know it you'll be unemployed as well... thanks and have a good day and....keep calling please.
