...look at the account number on the check... first sequence only has 6 digits. A real check will have 9 digits. If you try to cash the check, you could be prosecuted for trying to cash a fake check and get jail time. You can go to www.consumerfraudreporting.org and learn a lot more about scams.

Hey Jim,
I also got that letter. Let me review a few key notes...
1) Mailed from Canada
2) Return address in California
3) Letter signed by different name than return address
4) Warranty Finance, "LCC" - The accronym for a business structure is an "LLC" - not "LCC"
5) Google searches on warranty Finance and "The Grants Association of European Union" and 300 S Wacker dr in Chicago did not show anything that supported this company exists.
6) Usually, you have to apply for a grant... and why would they want to give you $50,000 without you having a specific need for it that could potentially solve the world's problems?
7) Return address has "Bellvil, CA" and no zip. It doesn't show up in Google Maps.
8) 877-809-2170 number originates in Wrightwood, CA... Just another variable...where do these people really reside, anyway??
9) BBB does not have a record started on them...yet...

...those are just a few ques I found quickly.

I would expect that they want to get your checking account number (by you cashing the check). They won't validate it, or if they do, you will be asked to pay the $5,000 fee before they can process your $45,000 grant money... In any case, you will have to supply personal information - NOT GOOD!!

Keep away!! I will be reporting this to the post office and BBB

This is the number I got on a letter from Warranty Finance LCC telling me I have won a grant from the Association of European Union.  Slick letter and an actual check.  Still researching further but it must be a scam.
