I got a recorded call from American Agencies asking me to call 888-278-3351.  A web search of American Agencies shows they are a collection service.

I've been getting calls also for someone (a woman's name actually) with the same last name from this company.  I've been getting more and more of this sort of thing -- as far as I can tell it is collection agencies picking out any phone number with the same last name and then just bombarding whomever!  Putzes!

Calls all the time.  I called them back from work and told them that I would sue them for harrassment if the calls did not stop today.

I just got a call from this number and they said to push 9 to talk to a rep.  As usual, I push 9 to mess with them.  After being on hold, they finally pick up and they ask for the number I'm calling from.  I said that I don't know, that I was calling from a payphone.  Let's see if that curbs them from calling again.

You don't need to be intimidated by them.
You don't have to explain yourself to them.
Be sure that if they are friendly with you, it's for the sole purpose of making you drop your guard.
Deny all knowledge (DAK).
They are recording your call. You should do the same.

same here w/ caller id. they got a hold of my cell #. just got a call from them 5 mins ago.havent called them back and will not either. consider them a disease and stay away from them!

Have called us several times saying this is not a sales call.  It is an auto dial that leaves 888-278-3351 to be called back.  No human there.  What is best to do?  Caller ID shows 310.212.0400.

Got repeated calls from them for days as everyone else did. Called them back, they had my name and tried to verify the last 4 of my social security, which they had wrong - they were close, but of course I didn't tell them that. He said he'd take my name off the list. We'll see if it really happens...I'm skeptical given other people's comments.

they only leave messages saying they are the American Agency and the call is not a sales call. they have called 10+ times in the last week. we have ntp spoken with them but all the hallmarks of collection shrills. Nothing about them seems above board.

Whoever they are, they have called at least 15 times....I don't answer it...I have no idea who they are, and want them to stop calling. I just got a new Verizon phone and now am getting all these stupid calls.

ACA reivables has somehow taken over the collection of an account that
I have had removed from my credit 3 times because of a dispute over long distance charges with Windstream.This has been going on for 6 years battling with alltel/Windstream.These guys leave this number to call .I just received a bill from ACA and They have a number of 888-457-7203 on the bill if you want to try that number-they are based in Torrance CA.

Also-check your credit report because they will screw you by putting the most recent date on the collection so it looks like this is a new debt.

Good Luck and if anybody starts a class action lawsuit-count me in.
