Just happened to us this week. $108, pretty high for a PP, unless it included a phone. I'm assuming the crook has the security code, or does Vesta allow charges w/o ? Anyway, letting my card company track them (you!) down. Charge came through as a T-MOBILE PREPAIDTOPUP and included this phone number 888-278-3392.

I had the same thing happen. Unauthorized charges showing up on our credit card. Empty nesters. No children in home. No one that would know cc number or have account information but me and my wife. Never had a t-mobile account, never will. Called credit card company fraud division to dispute charges. Took about two minutes on the phone and it was done. Nice and simple. Now I'll let them handle it. For all those calling the number listed, don't waste your time. Call your cc company, tell them you didn't make the unauthorized charges, dispute them and let them handle the headaches. That's what they're there for. Trust me, it's a whole lot easier and a lot less hassle.

If an agent would be happy to assist me, can you please explain why John at Vesta denied my call tonight since I am a bank rep of our mutual client, trying to find out who used my clients card to refill their account? I would think to maintain your A BBB rating you would want to help the banks and their clients as much as possible. I was told I could not conference in my client, that she would have to call back on her own to gain the needed information, and when I asked why that was the policy John's only answer was to keep repeating "that's just our policy" Sounds very suspicious from a fraud investigator's perspective!

Dear Vesta,
Your attempt at credit card fraud failed.  I hope someone nails you to the wall like the vermin you are.  Actually, no, that's not fair.  I hope you are each individually kidnapped and your organs sold one at a time on eBay.  People like you make the 401 scammers look honest.

Screw you, screw everyone that looks like you.  Fall on a rusted used hypodermic needle, catch HIV-Tetanus, and die in agony.  You'll do the world a favour.

Tried to purchase T-mobile minutes and Vesta (herein referred to as "V") froze me out 3 times with a "sessions expired" page. Called this V # and they said website updated, try again. Purchase went thru 4th time as "order pended".  Called this number again. V (foreign accent, garbled satellite feed) said they needed to verify me. V operator wanted to call my credit card co on a 3-way call and get me to verify last 4 digit of my SS#. I said I wasn't giving out my ss#. V said purchase was cancelled. Fine. I called V back. Got an english speaker with a better connection. Said I wasn't giving out my SS #. He said I needed to be verified. I was "selected" for random verification and I needed to confirm some info on a 3-way call with my credit card bank. Did I object? Told guy that depended on the questions. He got a girl on the phone "from the bank" on a 3-way. Told V guy it was ironic I had to verify MY identity when I had no way of knowing if this girl was from "the bank". Anyway, girl confirmed my name address and phone number. Done? The guy said the info wasn't enough. He wanted my card member date. Who the hell remembers that, I said. The year was on the card so I gave it to the girl and she confirmed. Nope, V wanted the month, too. I didn't know it from that many years ago. Then girl put me and V on hold. She returned and said that the bank uses only name, address and phone number to verify a cardmember to a merchant. What about a recent purchase or payment, the V guy asked. Could I give that info? Well, I could, but I said it wasn't available. Then V asked the bank girl if she had my birthdate. How about confirming my birthdate? I told him I wasn't giving that. He said the purchase was being cancelled and before he hung up I told the Bank girl that I was calling the bank in the morning to report this. She said she would put a note in the file. Called the bank a few minutes later. That girl actually WAS from the bank and did put a note in the file. Bank guy confirmed bank would never request anything but name address and phone to verify my card. He said there were 4 charges for V T-Mobile purchases on my card and to give it a couple days to see if the 3 extra charges actually come off. I'm going to be monitoring to see if any extra charges go on! I think I've been scammed and am lodging a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, T-Mobile, V, my Congressman, the state Attorney General and the local prosecutor. I'm also going to have my bank issue me a new card. Whoever I spoke with at "V" at 888-278-3397 has my card number and all the information the bank would need to certify to a merchant that whoever provides that information is "me". I'm also getting rid of T-mobile and all phones we have with them. I'm not doing any more online purchasing except for a few well-vetted sites.

Same story, a chagr of 22.60 appeared on my credit card statement and i don't have any vesta chatr account.
talked to rep named Roni rep # 1109 he took all my details of credit card as well name and address and put me on hold and suggested me that he can put an investigation on the charge. I requested to talk to the manager and realised that I had taken a chatr card in the month of June and it went on out renewal and that's how they have been charging me every month. They swiftly issued all the credits. I would good company.

Just received a $50 charge from Vesta T-Mobile on my credit card. I do not own a cell phone from T-Mobile & obviously never will. Like other postings, I am now required to deny the charge and change my credit card. As the other postings have also pointed out, I run all the risks and inconveniences while Vesta just keeps on scamming unsuspecting people. Is there no State or Federal agency that can shut down this blatant fraud?

This number ("T Mobile" company) is a TOTAL SCAM.  DO NOT CALL THEM BACK -- CALL YOUR BANK, CANCEL YOUR CARD and FILE A DISPUTE -- WITH YOUR BANK -- not this fraudulent "T Mobile" company that is scamming to many people.

You should be ashamed of yourselves -- what a terrible way to make money.

and just so you know, it is not actually Vesta that is causing these charges on your bank. Most people who have prepaid phones arent the brightest bulbs nor the richest. chances are you card information was stolen to use it for things such as making a payment for their PREPAID phone... which is were vesta comes in. Reason why this doesn't happen to contract phones is because there is a paper trail authorities can follow

Amazing posts here since 2008 about Vesta, and it is now 2013 and Vesta is still scamming consumers!  Then it must be legal!!! My e-mail messages below pretty much explains what Vesta have done!  Amex says they are investigating.  BTW, I have e-mail alerts when my credit cards are used online and without me present!

I do not have a prepaid cell phone.    I did not use my credit card today, ONLINE OR OVER THE PHONE.  Like I said, these are fraudulent charges and remove them from my credit card.  I have already contacted American Express.  I have been calling your number, but I keep being put on hold.

Dear E,

Thank you for your message. A charge with a description of Vesta XXXXX, would most likely be for an over-the?phone, or online purchase of additional minutes or service for a prepaid cell phone.

If neither you, nor any family members have made this type of purchase online or over the phone, please contact our processing department at 1.888.440.9956 for further assistance with unauthorized charges. For your convenience, we are available 24/7.

Thank you,

Remove the charge for $65 american express ending account, transaction date Feb 21, 2013.  These charges are fraudulent.
I did not give Vesta my credit card information. I did not authorize Vesta to charge my credit card.

I had this same charge on my MC card.  I called Vesta immediately (the number is listed on your credit card statement).  Vesta is simply a clearing house for other companies.  In my case it was a T-mobile charge.  Vesta forwarded the call to T-mobile who took our information, refunded the amount and put a hold on the credit card number so that it could not be used for another charge.  Very simple and both customer service companies were very cooperative and professional.  I then called MC and told them of the charge.  Someone has my CC number obviously so the card was shut down and a new one reissued.  There is no reason to panic.

I also had ILLEGAL charges on my account as well from this same company... Hmmm seems to me like someone in you CS is doing this and i also cannot see how this is a grade A company. I do not have will not have and shall not have tmobile they suck about as bad as boost mobile... I contacted my bank and filed charges and a warrant so my bank will find out who it was. My bank also recredited me the charges and said that it's now T-mobiles problems. To get your money back get to your bank within 5 days of the transaction and majority of the times you will get your money back...

Correct & I'll be darned if I'd call them. If I have a problem with my bank account statement, or charge card, I'll call them! ...And it'll be from the phone book, paper statement, or back of card. Not a number posted on a forum.

Copying and pasting this generic comment over and over is not helpful.  In reading all the above posts, your supposed continual monitoring for fraudulent use is clearly ineffective at best, and more likely dishonest.  Considering the difficulty many posters have had trying to reach a live person at your company, saying "a representative will be glad to assist you" sounds ridiculous.

I keep getting these charges of 32.95 per month and do not even have a prepaid phone.  I already had to change credit cards due to this 2 months ago.  No one answers your damn phones and I cannot take the time to switch credit cards again due to your negligence.  HOW can a person get help with your company.  I actually have a job where I cannot sit on the phone waiting for your "representative."

I was a little surprised by the charge with this name "VESTA *CHATR 888-278-5588, BC".  So I looked it up and it is for a cell phone I picked up from Chatr Wireless (BC, Vancouver).  I had forgot they gave me a discount if I set up auto payments.

I hope if you see this charge on your card it is for the same reason.  If it not call Chatr directly since they would love to catch the crock that stole your card info, and are more then likely using the phone for additional criminal activities

Numbers to contact them are here:

This Company showed up on my American Credit Card as a charge of $98.79.  I live in England!!  I do have an American credit card which I use when I visit America.  But I do not have a cell phone.  This number shows up on my statement, and it says Vesta *CHATR and it says it is a Telecommunication Service.   I have never authorised such a charge.  Nor have I received anything for it.

Now I have to go to all the trouble and frustration of trying to get the amount refunded to me, and to stop it happening again.  And to do all this from England.

After being in Arizona for 3 months & ran out of time with my Pay as you Go Cell phone, I phoned you to buy $10.00 worth of time for my phone on Dec. 12th as I was returning to Canada on the 15th.
We left Phoenix by plane at 6:00 a.m. that day & did not purchase any more time on the 15th.  You charged me $10.00 on that day too for more time.
Please correct & credit me for the $10.00 on the 15th which I did not order.  Thanks.
Please send me an email re this as I have  a different Credit Card number due to fraud on the card I used on Dec. 12th.
I am unable to get through by phone to you - 188-278-3397 for whatever reason.  I am disappointed with your two charges as this was the first time I ordered more time over the phone.
Thanks.
