They only have access to the last four digits of your SSN. Thats why its SO important that you give out NO personal information!! Your SSN is protected by Federal Laws and isnt even on your drivers license anymore. They also try to get you by saying "they are willing to settle the debt for a lot less if you pay right now ( they will tell you can make payment arrangements, usually around 50 dollars a month "after they have consulted with their "attorneys") and give them your debit . or credit card number" . The Consumer Law Attorney I contacted said if you do this, they can go in and wipe out your account! And you will have no recourse, because you have nothing in writing with them, no contract. And just because they say they are with "so and so company and this is what you owe " doesnt mean it is true. A lot of scammers know how to get online and get the last four digits of your social and what back loans might have, or not have. Tell them not to contact you by phone anymore...it all must be in writing!

Yes it is a scam! Check with your local laws, but they can only go back a certain number of years. In Arizona, its 4-6 years (dont claim that you owe the loan or you will"renew" the loan, but dont deny it either...tell them that you will get back to them) I got a call on March 27th from "John Spencer from Arbitration Resolution " saying that I owed on a loan from a Visa card from 2003 thru 2010, and that they were willing to settle for less. Even though I did have this card, I did not carry it till that date (it was only 500 dollars) They said I made a payment in May of 2010 (which would have renewed the loan) which I told them would have been impossible, since I almost died in March of 2010.  Of course I had the "48 hours" to get back to them" I contacted a Consumer Law Attorney and they have never heard of them! They consulted me if I heard from them again, to tell them not to call again and all contact in writing (they must abide by this) Well what do you know, I got a call from this same number just yesterday, but from "Arbitrration Mediation"  from John Stratron" saying that I had "48 hours to get back to them, or they would take me to my local County Court", I did not return the call. The same time today, another recorded message from John Straton stating the call (only 24 hours later) but had to talk to "Jeffrey Duncan" and he told me he was going to get me for "contempt" I told him that I talked to the FTC, my Attorney General General and an Consumer Law Attorney and none of them have ever heard of their company, and from here on out, all contact must be in writing, with the original loan amount, original debtor, physical address, contact name...etc. He said he did not need to do this and they would see me "in court" This is total BS!! The attorney I contacted said most of these "debt collectors" are telephone scammers and arent even in the United States!! And are impossible for the attorneys and Attorney General to track down because they change their address's and phone numbers like they change their underwear lol. These calls come in heavy, especially during tax time. When I was telling this "debtor" that I contacted all these people, he became very irate and started screaming at me and hung up on me. DO NOT give him/them any personal info, tell them all further contact must be in writing, and if you hear from them again, contact a Consumer Law Attorney (a lot of them will take your case for free) and you can sue them and can get up to $1, 000.00, if they are legit, and that debt will be wiped out, and the attorneys fees will be paid. Just make sure you save all messages (let it go to voicemail) save all mail (if you get any) times, dates, people you talk to....the attorneys will need this info when they go after them :)

Called trying to collect on a debt that is 14 years old and was discharged in Bankruptcy in 2005.  Yet they still threaten to file suit, garnish wages, levy bank accounts.  Everything they can think of to try and scare someone who doesn't know better.  Each time I start to ask any questions to get enough information to find out the companies true identity, (to file a suit) they hang up.

I have been getting these calls for a while from "John Spencer" at 888-278-8565. I already knew it was a SCAM. I run my credit yearly and just got a credit report last week to purchase a house. I don't think I owe anyone anythng with a credit score of 800. I got a text today that this "john spencer" contacted a former room mate of mine and scared her. So I decided to google the number as the 888 number provided goes to a voicemail. If you really want my money why would you send me to voicemail?? Thanks for the updates. I blocked the number on my iPhone and plan to file a report.

I keep getting the same calls. Its very nerve racking. I have not called them nor will I. I wish they would stop blowing up my phone and leaving msg's. I wish i knew who to complain too. This is getting way out of control. They have called me 15 times in the past week. Its funny how they say I have 48 hrs to comply or charges will be filed in my county. Pure B***s*** if you ask me.

I just received a call from a 415 area code number as well, with the same recorded message that all of you who have posted mentioned. I have 48 hours to resolve this before it is filed in my county. They gave the 888-275-8565 number to call back. I won't be calling back. I've heard it all before, in some variation or another. For anyone who is new to this, DO NOT be concerned. DO NOT give them any info about yourself, nor confirm any information they give you. Legitimate debt collectors do not make calls like this, ever. Don't allow them to scare you into anything, especially giving your bank info.

1-218-277-5179                  The past couple of months I have been getting Many calls from Many of the numbers listed by others on this page and thank you all for posting!!
At first I was scared to death of what they said they were accusing me of having done, then mad, who the &*%*  were they to make the accusations against me.
I picked up a couple times, got the scary message, other times let it ring and they leave no voicemail, have called back the number if one shows up, and it has been either dis-connected or just rings.

I have paid my phone company for the service of Selective Call Rejection.  It allows me to manually enter up to 16 numbers that will never be able to call me again, unless I take them off.  Hope they do not take all 16 slots, as the numbers each week seem to change up a bit.  I wish there was a Scam Callers Police!
My phone company said they received an internal memo about a Huge amount of phone scams popping up from all over since early Feb.  They also cannot really do anything about it, except advise their customers to, under no circumstances give any information, or even acknowledge your name.
Hope this helps other victims of this stuff as well.

Another scumbag collection agency illegally telling people they are in trouble and are about to be sued. THIS IS ILLEGAL.
Auto-dialed calls violate the TCPA. 3rd party debt collectors cannot sue. This threat violates the FDCPA

3482 Lake Clarion Drive St. Petersburg, FL is the other address.  Same zipcode.

Fax them a cease and deist letter. Their auto-dialed calls are a violation of the telephone consumer protection act.
If you want to have a little fun and have the spare time, sue them locally for violation of that law.

888-794-2763  Is the number you can also always get an actual person to answer.  That way you can call and harrass them as much as you want to.
It will clog up their call center and anger them greatly.

Have fun!

I was rudely awakened today by John Spencer as well - 3/14/2014.  I was terrified until I googled this 888 number and read all your posts. Thank you. I will not call the scum bag back.  Of course I was thinking of all the possible things I could have done wrong to have someone filing a suit against me and was shaking until I read this. I wonder how to go after this crap hole. I will look into it.

Everybody, DON'T WORRY!! These people buy debts that are beyond the statute of limitions... meaning there MAY have been a debt 7+ years ago, but cannot be legally collected through the courts now.  IF YOU SPEAK TO THEM, they COULD 're-activate' the debt a put today's date on it, THEN they can put it on your credit report. DO NOT TAL to hem.  Just ignore it.  And tell you friends and relatives no to speak to them, that's who they start calling next.  THEY CAN'T HURT YOU.

I recently see no other people that could have gotten my information  besides these two entity's, maybe I'm wrong.  Obviously the same source is messing with all of us, so we all have something in common, and we all need to be mad about it! I'm saving this page in my browser to come back to. So please reply to me
