Received a call on my cell phone today from 877-587-5727 at approximately 11:22.  Didn't recognize the number so hit reject and they left a canned/recorded msg.  Said it was Citi regarding my "Retail Private Label Account".  They said to contact them at another number, 888-279-2426.  Not going to pursue since I don't trust robo-calls or Citi, for that matter.  Also, I don't even have a private label account!  I'm going to add the number to my contacts and tell the cell phone to reject their calls, don't have time for these morons.

I have received multiple messages telling me to call this number 888-279-2426
saying that I need to call back in regards to my "retail phone label account".
I have no idea what that is and concur with many of the comments on this thread
that this HAS to be a phishing scam.  Check your own accounts and if there
is nothing outstanding balance-wise you don't need to worry.  Ignore these calls.

After having received a call a day (including Sunday) for nearly two weeks, I called the 888 number and received a recording asking me for my account number which I did not give.. After pressing "0" several times I got a real person who asked for my account number which I declined to provide. He said there were "issues" with my Citicard which I thought was unusual since I don't have one. We chatted briefly and he said that he could not provide any further information unless I was willing to provide proper identification so he could see if some other cards might be causing the problem. I declined and ended the conversation.

Bottom Line: I doubt this is a legitimate situation. They are obviously looking for personal/credit card information for reasons that are not clear. It appears to be a phishing scheme.

It's 2013 and I am getting calls from this number. I got tired of them and called. Used 1234567 as an account number to get to an "operator" Gave no personal and asked to be off the call list. was routed to a "manager" who advised he could not take me off the list unless I gave "verification" He hung up when I advised I would call The Attorney Generals office. I then called back a half dozen times getting different people each time. All could not help me but at least I annoyed them as much as they annoyed me. The last person advised he would take me off the call list.

This has taken on a new for me. I reported the number to do not call, the voice changed to a woman's voice and the beat goes on, even on Sundays. Some time prior to this type of call, I believe it was Pen recoveries out of Minn. that called claiming my daughter had an out standing debt. I told the woman my daughter did not owe anyone any money and  don't call anymore with this scam. The woman sound like she was holding her nose when she talked. "Sirrrr, this is not a scam" I told her it was and don't ever call my number anymore with that crap. Now this creep is calling. By the way, don't buy into a work at home scam with a scammer using the name Home Trust. He will send you perfect looking American Express travel checks for you to deposit in your bank account and tell you to keep $100.00 for yourself and forward to the rest to an address that he claim is a land lord of some property they are handling.

Because of the skepticism in this thread and since I did not recognize this "Citicard private label" business, I didn't punch in my Citibank card number.  The operator was very polite and asked for my phone number.  With that, she explained she was calling about my Exxon card, which is a "Citicard private label" card, it turns out.  And yes, it turns out I was late on my payment.

Received 2 calls claiming they had important information on my CITI card account.  I called the company that I have my CITI card through and they had nothing to indicate any kind of message or problem...What queue me was the message said to be sure to have my account number when returning the call....well, if they are calling me about this account, then they already have my account number...

I also got these calls. I called back and with just my name and phone they told me it was my Exxon/Mobil card. They asked me to confirm info so they could verify t was MD...they wanted my last four of my SS #,which I refused, then they asied for my birth date which I also refused.
I told them I would check online. Lo and behold they were correct. I rarely use this account and it was indeed behind. So I paid my body bill online. No more calls....
If you do indeed suspect something keep in mind you can always give them the wrong info when they ask for your last four... and if they say "I am sorry that is not correct" then you have a better feeling they are indeed looking at your account info and not phishing.....

If you DO call 1-888-279-2426 back, DO NOT enter ANY account number or account information. But you can press * * 0 * (star star zero star) and it puts you into a hold queue and when the next available 'bic' (butt in chair) flunky picks up you can talk to them.  I did and it got me absolutely nowhere.  They're just trying to pitch you something or get your info one way or another.  And by having YOU call THEM, it makes it all legal to some extent.  Judging from the comments here 888-279-2426 has been around for YEARS.  Still trying to figure out how to stop these types of calls and to date I have been called by these 'Citi Card' clowns 5 times since after the New Year.  Probably because one of my 'Private Label' cards is set to expire this year 2013.  Good luck!

I found that this automated call back is due to a late payment on an account and the calls continue until the account is payed up to date. I gave them very little information, name, phone number and address, and they were able to give me all the account information necessary to discuss the concern (missed payment).

I called the number.  It was Citibank.  They have a lot of private label cards like Sears or many of the gasoline companies.  Mine was for a missed payment on a Shell gasoline card that had slipped through.  So, it is legitimate.

Said they were from Citicard. If everyone took 3 minutes to Google the phone number of such calls before calling back, the scammers and spammers would dry up.

I keep getting pre-recorded messages from Citicard telling me that this call is in reference to my Retail Private Label Account.  I have never heard of such a thing.  I called Citibank and they told me that they don't know what this is.  When I called the 888 number, they immediately wanted my account number, which I did not give.  They told me they are a collection agency.  Don't fall for this!

You're a bit economical with punctuation. I stopped reading after "this number was 1800-733-1116 me and my employee".

Everyday 1-877-587-5727 calls the home and leaves an automated message requesting a call back to 1-888-279-2426 in reguards to a CitiBank account.  I have a credit history which attests to my payments being consistantly on time and paid in full or even early with every card, bill, or service I receive.  This is a phishing scam in order to get your account information.  CitiBank manages serveral to almost all credit cards including store cards.  If you provide any information such as the type of credit card you use, store credit card, ssn, name, address, checking or savings account, or utility providers as well as any place you do business with your identity will be compromised.  Please protect yourself.

I've been receiving calls from 888-279-2426 for about two weeks now. I couldn't understand the number that robo wanted me to call until today. I did understand about having my account number ready.  I looked 800NOTES. Thank you to 800NOTES and to everyone that posted.

Number is from Citi Bank, they called regarding my Shell credit card because i had missed a payment.  I verified it was a legit call because I did not give them any info other than my name and phone number and they did not ask for any personal info other than that before telling me it was regarding my Shell account.

I did the same thing by calling the phone number on the back of my credit card before submitting to these people.  They said they were not trying to get in contact with me and my account is in good standing.  I figured it was just a scam and someone trying to get my account number.

I've been getting calls from 1-877-587-5727 every day for a week straight.  I called this number they told me to call today and after hitting "0" and the pound sign instead of a credit card number (I don't have a credit card with Citi) I got to talk to someone.  He told me there was a different name associated with my phone number.  I said you have the wrong number then because I've had this phone for 10 years.  He said in order to stop getting the calls I had to send a formal letter..?  I said, no sir, you will remove my phone number and stop calling me because you have the wrong number.

After arguing for about 10 minutes he finally said he'd remove my number.  I have a feeling they'll call again.

Sounds like a scam to me as this number and the other one show up no where on Citibanks' website.

This # calls me every day, even Sundays, at 11:43 am. I keep reporting it do the Do Not Call registry, but nothing seems to be done about it. I don't want to call the # since I have heard that can open a whole new can of worms.

I called them after checking on this site. I did not think I had any debt but I found out that I had $10.46 outstanding balance from a retailer store (over 75 days past due).   For some reason I never received their electronic bills and of course I had no idea I had a bill to pay. They waved small fee - I did not even ask. I really made that purchase and I did not pay the bill - so it was a legitimate call.
