THEY CALL AT LEAST ONCE A DAY AT ALL HOURS OF THE DAY ON MY CELL PHONE. I BELIEVE ITS A "COLLECTION AGENCY" CALLED AMERICAN AGENCIES...QUITE POSSIBLY A SCAM. I CALLED THEM BACK AT NIGHT ONE TIME AND ALL I GOT WAS BACKGROUND MUSIC. THEY NEVER LEAVES MESSAGES ON MY PHONE SO SCREW EM'.

Calls started once a week. Now its 2 times a day! They always leave a message saying 'not a sales call' & she says its American Agencies. I have never called back. I have a voice mail program that allows me to ditch calls so they can't leave messages. I ditched their call.

i've been called a number of times over 7 your put on hold with music telling you your next but you are not then it hang up i have also tried asking questions like how did they get my number what is this about each time the person on the line hangs up on me one time i was told well if your not the person and this is a wrong number my number would be removed but 2 hours later another phone call i don't get it they can call but you can not ask them anything !@$%& it's crazy don't i have rights to stop them

They call once a day and always leave a message, but never say who they are calling for or what about. I tried to answer once and noone was there and I called it back once and only music. I wish they would identify who they are looking for and answer when I call so I can get them to quit calling. Although once I had a collections agency call for a Don and would not take my number off.

For the past 3 months I have been receiving calls from this number on my cell phone. If they can't leave a message telling me what they want, then I sure am not returning their calls.  It is hinging on harrassment.  If it is a collection agency, then they have the wrong nunmber as I have no outstanding debts.

Reader mail: American Agencies won?t quit collecting and reporting 9-year-old disputed debt

I just read some of your thread on a fraud forum.  I?ve been contacted by American Agencies and told that I owe a phone bill for a number that was never mine, at an address in LA where I never lived, and at a time (2000) when I wasn?t even living in the country!

Despite this, and despite the fact that the statute of limitations runs out after 7 years, they still tell me it?s a valid debt and that I must prove it wasn?t me!  It appears the same thing happened to you.  I?m wondering what you would advise me to do in the face of their false claims? (They say they continue to report it on my credit report...and will do so until they?ve been paid).

It?s unbelievable how collectors IGNORE the law.

Dispute with the credit bureaus who report the account:

?Please IMMEDIATELY delete the American Agencies collection.  It is NOT my account and even if it was, this debt is from 2000 and should have LONG been deleted from my credit reports.?

And if they are calling you, write to American Agencies:

?This is NOT my account.  Please do NOT contact me again and immediately delete this collection from my credit reports.?

Please contact me if they don?t delete.

The FTC claims to have investigated American Agencies back in 2003 or so when I sued them?can everybody tell how effective the FTC is?  I now document the FTC corruption at http://credit-reporting-collection-ftc-complaints.info/

I hope that many MILLIONS of (near) judgment-proof people will get a clue, stop paying their unsecured debts and leave this corrupt system to let it die.

They have been calling my house and leaving messages numerous times every day for the past few weeks.  I tried to call back the first time, but all I heard was music.  What the heck is this?  I, too, have an unpublished number and, as far as I know,it shouldn't be a collection agency.

Message is left on my answering machine.  After calling and complaining they still do it!!

Me too.  No way you should call back a number that won't provide specifics on why they dialed you in the first place.
