I too was called by someone with an accent like that of someone from India. They said Okay a lot... Their number showed up as 000-000-0000. They told me I had won a $100.00 gift card. They told me that I needed to give them my card number to verify my identification. They wanted $2.39 for an 'activation fee' and said that the worker's name was Steve Smith. He hung up on me once, hit the mute button once, called me back immediately, and I told his 'supervisor' that I was not going to give them my card number and to have a nice day, then I hung up.

just got out of the hospital yesterday and was feeling kind of down so when this fella calls me saying hes going to send me a 100 dollar free walmart gift card i am some what elated. For some reason later during the nite something (gut feeling) tells me to check my bank card. i noticed that 4.95 was taken out of my acct. for some reason or another. This was not authorized and i feel as though this young man charged my acct. fraudently. the thing is they do these things without any remorse and if it was to happen to them they would scream bloody murder. Are we going to continued to sit back and let these bigwig companies (play skeem cajole) us out of our money are can we send them a message they will never forget.? I will be the first to sign this petition to file in small claims courts against these legal scammers., wont you join me.

I was contacted by "Eric Peterson", "employee number 0793" (or 073, depending when asked), and Eric was working for the "Discount Savings Company".  He desired to give me a $200.00 gas station voucher for being such a great credit card customer.  

According to Eric, his physical location at the time of our speaking (4:30 PM, Pacific Time on 2/23/2010) was:

and his mailing address was:

Further helpful information I gleaned from our conversation:
1.  Eric's supervisor was named Joseph Black.
2.  Joseph Black is 33 years old today (2/23/2010)
3.  Discount Savings Company is having Customer Appreciation Month (THIS month!!)
4.  Eric could not really explain how Discount Savings Company financially benefits from my prompt payment of my credit cards, but my credit worthiness was the reason for my free voucher.
5.  Eric knew I had a Visa or a Mastercard that I use to purchase gas, but he needed some additional information to verify my identity and to match it to my card - to make sure the voucher went to the correct and worthy consumer (me) I believe.
6.  "Not a single cent" can be charged to my credit card as long as I only give them the expiration date and 16-digit "identification number" on the front of the card.  Plus, I provide this information every time I use my card at a gas station.
7.  As long as I do not provide my CVV number/pin number (located on the back), all 16 digits on the front, my name, and my credit card expiration date are of no use to anyone attempting fraud; however, my 3 digit pin number is the "really secret one", and Eric did not need this.

I congratulated Eric on his 16 min and 45 seconds of persistence after informing him of his chances of obtaining my credit card number.  He did not find the situation nearly as amusing and hung up when I started laughing.

got two calls in two days from this number for $200 gas reward. I hang up within 10 seconds.

My 19 year old son with Autism had 2 messages on his phone from this number. They guy had an india accent and called my son an Mother effer along with some other colorful words and hung up. I tried to call the number back to report him but it just has a buzzing noise.

The number was 888-483-3722.

There should be a law against idiots like this! If he calls back, he's going to get an earful from me!

Kept getting calls from this number on our land line and cell phone number. Doesn't leave any message.

They called me offering somethin but I didn't give them time to pitch me and told them I was on a do not call list which he then in turn still proceeded to tell me this isn't selling anything I then again told him I am on a do not call list and don't call me anymore   he hung up

Darn...I was only offered a gift certificate for $50.00. For any restaurant in the US!
The scary thing tho, is the fact that they know your complete name, address, last 4 digits of the card and the exp. date!

I have no idea who this Phone Number belongs to.   They call several time a week since the begining of the year.  Cannot understand their name because they speak with a foreing accent.   Will not answere the phone anymore with that number.

I got several calls from these people even after I told them I did not want this promotion. DO NOT EVER give credit card info to anyone that call with this company "American Auto".  This is A SCAM.  I got the same spiel as several people attest to above. Here's the transcript of the call I had yesterday (03/12/10) from this number:

Me: Hello?
Him: May I please speak to the owner of this telephone number?
Me: You are speaking to the owner of this telephone number.
Him: Are you Canadian?

Got a call and they said they were from a debt collection agency and needed to verify information. They had my addres and asked if I would give the last foue digits of my social security number. Knowing that I was not in any kind of debt. I refused to give that information. I know this was some sort of scam to try and get my information and use it.

I got a call from a man with a heavy middle eastern accent named Winson telling me that I had won a $200.00 free gas card for being a good customer. He wanted my credit card number and expiration date. I refused to give it to him and he became angry. I hung up on him and he called back. Do not give out any infomation to anyone from this number.... Discount Savings Network is a scam.

Just today a "John Decouster" called saying that I had won a $200.00 gas card for being a good customer towards their affiliated gas companies, he then asking for my approval to send a something in the mail and also for my debit card account number. I told him I did not wish to recieve the package in the mail nor did I wish to give him my number and he was being extremely persistent. He kept repeating that this was the last chance. I hung up after the third call. BTW/ like Sandra's scammer, the caller also had a heavy middle eastern accent.

I just got a call from a 1888 666 2209 and spoke with James Thompson Employee id IC691.  He said he was calling on behalf of Discount Savings Network he called to inform me I had won a $200.00 gas card and all he needed was my credit card number.  I told him I didn't feel comfortable giving my credit card number over the phone and asked if I could send in a money order he told me the only way I could get the gas card was if I used a Visa or Mastercard.  While talking to him I went on the internet and typed in Discount Savings Network gas scams and all kind of stuff came up I then told him no thanks he was very persistent in saying that my card would not be charged for anything but the shipping and handling fee I kept saying no but he just would not give up I then proceed to hang up.  DO NOT TRUST THIS PROMOTION IT IS A SCAM.  Side Bar he had a heavy middle eastern accent.

i just received a call from john at discount savings network. after refusing to give him my 16 digit debit card  number over the phone, he transfered me to mike who started the whole speil again only more aggressively. he stated that none of the information he was asking for could be used in any way to damage my account negatively, and that i was being an infant about it. while speaking to john i googled discount savings network gas voucher, and all kind of scam alerts popped-up. when i told this to mike, he persisted in his attempt to gather my information and told me he was aware of this other company besmirching his fine companys name and tried to assure me HE was legitimate. when i began to laugh at his attempts, he said something in a language i can only guess was hindi, and in english said GOOD DAY SIR and hung up.  both of the men said they were calling me from phoenix arizonia usa, which i thought was a little strange. both had heavy middle-eastern accents. and there was a very great deal of street noise in the background.

Told them not to call agian after asking for my debit card number to receive a big discount  gas voulcher. They have called me 3x since. once after 10:30pm and woke me up. Its harrasmen !!!

Got a call from this number on my cell phone.  I did not answer it since I should not be getting 888 calls on it.  I looked the number up and I see a lot of bad press.  I normally do not answer "unknown caller" or strange looking numbers like this.  Why should I let these folks waste my time?

Didn't get it from this number, but from the same company. 14029820420. Based out of Pheonix, Arizona. I talked to Henry Smith CoID 91726. After trying to get my card number, he transferred me to his supervisor, Henry somethingorother. At which point I told them to take me off of whatever list I was on and leave me alone.

not only did iget the 'gas' call - after asking them to quit calling and take me off their list, i received 10 phone calls in a 5 hour period and then went on to say he loved missed, he wanted to marry me and he wanted to f*** me..............I can't believe the telephone company would rather make the money for this phone number that to shut the phone off on these types of people who harass you..........

I answered who are you and what do you want and hang up.  I called back and he answered and I said you called my cel phone who are you and what do you want he hung up.  I called a 3rd time and told them to stop calling me unless they identify who they are.
