Vonage reseller, trying to sell phone line service.

Trying to get you to say "yes". Very rambled caller, didn't know what he was talking about,
didn't 'listen' to my answers at all.

Do you have 2 or more lines?  No, just this 1 you called on.
You have internet right?  No we don't.
You will get 1 line for $24.95 with 3-way calling and caller ID.  - I really don't need that sir.

He kept saying we had a fax line, more than 1 line and internet..... I kept telling him no, 1 phone, nothing else

At the end of the conversation, he said because we didn't have internet, we couldn't get this deal
and he would call me back next week.

???? Very confusing telemarketer to say the least.

Today, I received a call from this number, identifying themselves as "Echo Alarm System." Spoke with Marco Lee, who identified his company's address as 2720 N Stemmons Freeway, Dallas, TX 75207. I did a little hunting and spoke to someone in that building who told me that the company is Alliance Security, telephone 214-298-6740. I spoke with a John at that number who confirmed that he knows that his company is telemarketing. I specifically asked that he not call any numbers on the federal Do Not Call list. John wanted to know how I got his number and I told him that I have my methods and they were none of his business.

Obviously, the 800 number is being used by a telemarketer that John has hired. John was very unhappy that someone had gotten his private number. If the caller is saying they're "Echo Alarm System" and they're offering you a free alarm, etc, they're from Alliance Security. And John has been warned that he is violating US federal law.

Fact is, if you have a relationship with a company, they DO have the right to call you. Of course, last time Cox called me to "upgrade my service" I actually DOWNGRADED it and took a bunch of premium channels off. They have to do that, as well, if you ask them to.

They've been telephoning me as well and today it was two times. I shall call their number, identify myself and tell them to stop telemarketing me. If that does not work, I will speak to a manager. That WILL get results. Cox is not Comcast or TimeWarner. They actually do listen to their customers.

Got this now.. about every other day.. on my cell phone. .I'm in a Suddenlink market.. Closest Cox market is 100+ miles away.. calling it back says offer has expired... Scam? Scam.

NOT a COX customer.....just got call.  Didn't answer.  No message.

This is NOT cox it is a telemarketer  I called cox and they told me it was not them.  Very Rude on the phone.  Most likely someone trying to scam.

No message was ever left.  When number is called it is COX "with a 'special' offer".  Being on  the "do not call list" matters not if you are COX customer, they can call.  My solution.  Went to my Sprint account online and blocked the specific number.  Yes in addition to controlling who can text you, there is the ability to block specific phone numbers.  I tried, it works ...calls from COX solicitors are no more!!  If you have Sprint try it, another carrier, check if they will do the same.  It's very satisfying.

Report an official complaint to the FTC and help build a criminal case against this scam artist.

This is a Cox Cable marketing number.
My experience is the same as many notes above from a year or so ago:  randomly timed calls, no message.
I have Cox Cable (no other choice in my area of San Diego), so I don't know if the 'Do Not Call' marketing calls apply to repeated marketing calls from a company I have an account with...  : (

Same as Jill's note from Oct 2010 -- randomly timed calls (including 9 PM?!) with no message left.
I don't answer calls when I don't know the number. I need to see if the 'do not call' registry applies to a company you are a customer of...

DONT PICK UP PEOPLE. ITS A SCAM TO GET YOUR INFORMATION, THIS # IS TO MAKE SURE YOU NUMBER IS VALID SO THEY CAN "VERIFY" AND SELL YOUR NUMBER TO EVEN MORE TELEMARKETERS. SOMEONE WHO PICKS UP THE CALL IS WORTH MORE BECAUSE ITS NOT JUST AN EMPTY ANSWERING MACHINE.

Idiots!! Cox don't even service Tennessee. So why the hell they calling me?!

I have told COX that they need to take me off of their telemarketing list for several years now.  Same ol thing!  They say "OK"  I have blocked every number I get from them accept their main line, which is the one I call.  This I know, any company that is calling ME about their products and services or they need info from me, I NEVER EVER give them information, I only give information when I am calling them specifically for something.

These people call me a lot at all hours, day and night, they never say anything but it is annoying, I called the number back and it was Cox Communications automated operator who said they wanted to provide me with a special offer. I am on the State of Pa. do not call list as well as the National Registry, how can I stop these people from pestering me so much.

In San Diego, you can call Cox at 619-262-1122 and ask to be removed from their calling list. They wete quite nice about it.

Cox called again and I think they are getting my info from current company cuz I called my company and they said I have an unlisted and unpublished number but when I asked the cox people they said they got it from internet._ sorry not buying it anymore

Cox Communications, well they say "Cox" but they keep trying to offer me services that I already have, WHAT THE F***?

It's Cox Communications "Calling to tell you about a special offer". I receive 2 or 3 of these calls per week. I am a COX customer.

Any ideas who this might be?

I too have recieved much calls from this number too.  I get so sick of it, that I let them hang because I am tired of their harassment and lack of professionalism.

Good luck with that, we have contacted them on many occasions to have our number removed from their list.  It only works for the current promotion, when they have a new one to offer you they call again

Have been getting calls from this number everyday for a week now.  I have an answering machine, and they never leave a message.  I just refuse to answer the phone because if I wanted what they were offering I would have called them.

Just got a call from this message, they hung up as soon as I answered.  I can confirm I do have Cox services.

After receiving many of these "hang up" phone calls, and seeing from your site that it was Cox Communications, I contacted Cox and they are putting our number on a No Call List by the Cox Telemarketers. Supposed to be effective immediately -- we'll see.

The caller hung up on me when I said hello.  If Cox wants my business, that isn't the way to get it.  B*****ds.

Update: just called the number back and it is, in fact, Cox calling with a "special offer."  Recorded message ... no way to reach anyone live.
