This is exactly what I did when I recieved the same two messages, One emeaditly after the other. The first asking me to join 3msg a week for $9.99. It said I needed to type Help for Help and STOP to Cancle.
Within seconds I recieved the followup txt stating You Joined! and the $9.is 99 charged to CELL and again it said type Help for Help and STOP to Cancle. I checked my tmoble prepaid ballance and sure enough it was minus the 9.99! I thought How can they be permited to do this! I think its called an Opt-In by default and it's not allowed! Anyway I called TMobil and to their credit they promptly refunded the 9.99 and said thay are sorry that I Clicked the wrong spot and all was ok now. I tried to explain about the opt in but I'm afraid it fell on deff ears. The operator also suggested I blacklist that orginization from my phone which was of corse an excelent idea!

Do not reply STOP. Call your wireless provider. They will refund charge. I have done this and my wireless representative advised me not to reply to avoid further scam messages.

I have had the same experience as "sickofit" (Lovetips4Life) and I replied STOP. Getting someone at the phone company to investigate this is another hurdle. These scammers know how to operate but it would seem that the phone companies could have them prosecuted by the way they operate. I will keep trying to call att. 781-49 is the text sender and 888-907-1998 is the associated number.

i'm on att and they have a (free) purchase blocker feature. it takes an extra step to make the purchases you want, but it prevents stuff like this from happening. i got nailed for 2 months before i caught this -- call your cell company and report it!

That phone number is for a third party company that only handles refunds. Supposedly they mail you a refund check.

I called the following number which is a refund center: 1-888-907-1998
All they do is process a refund and cancel the subsciption in one shot...

They ask cell number charged and name and address to send refund check in 3 days.

The know the issue by cell number and call took 50 seconds including the hold time.

I guess they know in advance.

Yeah, the problem is that if you ignore the text, you are then automatically signed up for the subscription.  You have to return the "canel" code, to NOT get signed up.  It sounds so shady, but supposedly it is legal for these third parties to do this...for now.  I too ignored these texts because I didn't want them to think they had reached a valid cell phone number...

I just got this exact message at 3am in the morning from 781-49. Does anyone know who they are getting our cell numbers from? I was just going to ignore it, but it sounds like some people are actually getting charged! I need to check my statement now and call AT&T, ugh

wow, I got 2 text messages within a minute of each other, the first one said lovetips4life Flirting Tips; 3mgs/week for $9.99. . blah blah.  the second one said "you joined 9.99/m for 3msg/wk will to cell. and blah blah.

what the hell?  they were both un opened and not responded to but wow all of a sudden I am subscribed.  I went online to find out about the lovetips4life and found this website call the number.  they can refund me the charge but when asked how I was even signed up or who the company was they have no information and I would have to call my cell phone company.  what a crock!  I said so you give refunds out to charges you didn't make and for people you don't know?  he had no answer to that.

I called verizon and they can block third party text.  i was also told that you should always reply STOP to these type of text mssg.  at one time i was told not to reply cause then they know they have a valid phone number but i guess the scammers found a way around that!

Clarification: Lovetips4life.com is the company texting for the charge. They purchased the web domain from Namecheap.com, who does not have anything to do with the scam fraud.

This is a scam company which sends a text to the effect of "You joined $9.99 for 3 msg" if you do not wish to receive more then text stop to ####. By sending the stop text it validates the active telephone and a bill is placed. The Registration Service Provided is: Namecheap.com, purchased April 2011.
Put a stop at your telephone provider and get them to refund the charge.
Send in a complaint to the State Attorney General Office. This goes across State lines and will Federal Wire Fraud..
