Claimed they were a charity for Breast Cancer, called 5 times everyday, then tried to tell me they are not allowed to call more than 4 times a day (like thats any better) was I sure it was the same number. Then kept cutting me off as I was speaking. I would hope the Breast Cancer Association didn't have such RUDE people asking for donations. I asked them to remove my number, I'm hoping they stop calling.

Have never answered these calls. No info on caller ID other than the phone number. Calls are infrequent.

I received the first call from this number in early January 2010. They called themselves ACS calling on behalf of the Breast Cancer Society. I specifically asked "American Cancer Society"? To which they replied "we are ACS". I agreed to be mailed info on donation. When I received it, I found out they were not AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY but a professional fund raising company - ACS which stands for Associated Community Services, Inc. Their address is 29777 Telegraph Road, Suite 3000, Southfield, MI 48034, phone number is (248)351-6713.
I immediately began searching for info on the Breast Cancer Society. I finally found an e-mail address (support@breastcancersociety.org) for them and sent a letter of complaint dated 01/17/2010. I received a reply on 1/21/2010. My e-mail had been received by Laura Wallace, Program Services Director and forwarded to James T. Reynolds, II, Executive Director. Mr. Reynolds is the one who replied to me via e-mail.
Today (02/08/2010) at 11:08 AM I missed a call form 888-293-0525. I tries to call this number back at 11:33 AM (25 minutes later) and received a recorded message that "You have reached an E-Star number that is not in service". After a quick Google search, who should it belong to but Associated Community Services, Inc. I have printed out the e-mail reply received on 01-21-2010 and have called both 888-293-0553 and 248-351-6713 and left messages to return my call.

I have recieved multiple calls also. Tonight it was a twice in less than an hour. The latest call was at 845pm. I got the same message when I called the number back. You would think these people are despirate or something for as much as they call you in a day.

I was out of town for 3 days and received calls from this number 8882930525 12 times, no message left. I returned the call and a recording said my call could not be completed.

They call themselvs ACS some sort of "charity" company that "works" with many charities, if you do a call back right away they "claim" to be closed and nobody can speak with you and to leave your name, number and charity you are calling on/

Calls 4-5 times every evening right at kids bed time. Waking up the children over and over.

Call several times a day, "out of Area", never leave message

It was a charity calling. It makes me want to stop giving to them because once you do, they mark you as a donator and call you almost weekly. I know tell them "it was a one-off donation and we pick 1 charity a year to support and won't pick another until next year, sorry, goodbye". It'd be nice if they'd say who they were when they call. It just makes me defensive when a call-center voice just asks for me or my wife as if they're my best friend. Go away.

I have at least 10 hangups from these people. Sometimes it's a different number and I have 10 of those. Every time I'm told, by family, to "just answer it" I get wrangled into another donation. I send it...not really knowing if it's received...how can I find that out? Anyway...They don't give up, especially if you donated once. They run you a line and if you listen and don't pledge, they try back next month. If you don't listen to the schpeiel, they call you with a new number and a new cause. it's a call center with 100's of phone numbers at their disposal. What's irritating is that they call every few hours...my phones ringing off the hook and my family is yelling "answer it!!" "Ill answer it!!" I feel bad for the call people...it's just their job and knowing from a brief experience in a call center...it suck as a job. I don't want to be mean but I can't take the ringing. plus I'm out of work I can't afford this scam! Don't give over the phone or by mail in anymore. Give to your Church and to known trusted affiliations.

A friendly woman claiming to represent the Breast Cancer Society called this morning sometime after 9 a.m. saying I'd previously pledged $10 and they hadn't received it. They had called before and, rather than using a credit card, I'd asked that they send an envelope. I'd intended to look up the organization, but hadn't gotten around it. Foolishly I authorized $15 from my debit card, THEN looked up the organization on Charity Navigator. Charity Nav implied that the organization was too new -- hadn't filed a certain form for a sufficient number of years. When I googled Breast Cancer Society I found this site. My cousin had a double mastectomy recently, and I thought the organization was a known one, so I was a sitting duck for a breast cancer scam. I couldn't cancel the debit, and am glad it wasn't too large an amount, but will call more attention to the scam, and won't donate online again, even if I know the charity.

I let the answering machine answer, Don't answer calls from Unavailable caller id looked this up using Google. This is a call from someone looking for donations. I guess non profits are not stopped by the do not call registry. Let the answering machine pick up. They will not leave a message. Have a good day.

Lady claiming to be collecting for Breast Cancer Research, said I had made a pledge but it had not ben rec'd. I could do so now with a credit card or a check, I said check, where could I send it, she said give my
bank's routing #, now that didn't seem right, I told her so & hung up. I also get 866 area code calls. Can someone explain to me how c'call blocking" works?
one (or 2) born every minute 2009-12-31 01:11:23 Unknown
Let's see, you agreed to give money to somebody who called YOU, now you think you put one over on them because you "reduced" your "contribution"?
And you think everyone should do this?
WRONG. If no one ever gave a dime to to cold callers, less money would be stolen from well-meaning contributors and these clowns would go out of like they deserve. But if people do what you suggest, this kind of scam will go on forever.
Rest assured the "charity" would be lucky to get ten cents out of your original ten dollars, unless the call center pockets all of it.
t1cked0ff 2009-12-31 00:38:18 Unknown
They did the same to me. I pledged $10 to a charity through them. They kept calling (I made the pledge in late November, they started calling early December) so I went through my caller id and for every call I saw I deducted $1. I found 7 calls. You do the math. I explained this to them in a letter I sent with the 'donation' (or what was left of it) and asked them to remove me from their calling list. If enough people do that, they'll get the message.

It was the Breast Cancer Research for me. I had sent a donation about a year in a half ago and now they're calling for more donation. It can be very annoying. Plus, they call around 8:30pm which is when I'm putting my babies to sleep. So annoying!
kristen 2009-10-22 02:17:19 Unknown
They solicit for everything - Breast Cancer Reserch - this time it was the Law Enforcement Fund - I have asked them to take me of their list a few times & they did not comply with my request.

This is a second number that is used by a "fund raising" organization. Between this number and the other one they use, we get 8 or 9 phone calls a day.
MEB 2009-04-02 19:26:48 Unknown
It is Associated Community Services. I called them back to find out.
They are professional fundraisers. They have been calling me to donate to the Navy Veterans fund. The fund is legit.
