Telemarketer
I called 611 and explained that someone claiming to be Verizon has been soliciting me regarding my plan features. The customer service rep put a "do not solicit" on my account and said I should stop receiving these calls. We'll see if it happens.

Calls me once or twice a day. I never answer because they are not in my contacts list, which means I do not know them. I assume it is Verizon calling me to tell me I am close to going over my texting minutes. Franky, I don't care. I don't have a text plan, because it's cheaper me for me to pay for each one I go over than their monthly fees. How about leaving a message. A little courtesy here.
Thanks

Getting calls daily on my cell phone from this number 888-293-0822, weekdays, weekends, after 5, during business hours, and I am NOT a Verizon Wireless customer, so how did they get my cell phone number?  I don't even bother to pick up. Must be a scam, from what is written above.  Just some scam telemarketer.

i bet the people from verizion that called the number didn't really look the number up. any time some one askes for your whole SS number it is a scam. Verizion knows your ss# they will only ask for last 4 digits. I bet these people are not contracted thru verizion

And I don't believe the above statement either since I have unlimited text and all of my calls are within a calling circle on my 10 faves.  Hmmmmm.... Don't think I am over anywhere.... do you?

Same deal for me.  They called once every day.  I called Verizon Wireless customer service and asked to be removed from the list.  At first the Verizon rep didn't think that 882930822 was a Verizon number, but then she put me on hold for 20 minutes and changed her story when she came back.  She informed that it was a "Verizon Marketing" number and then let me opt out of further marketing texts and calls.

I guess this isn't too bad of a fix for this kind of harassment, but on the other hand, I can't imagine why Verizon would want to do this to their customers!

It's a scam, we call Verizon and they said the number is not theirs. They've call several times, different people to talk about what they can offer to avoid overage charges. Then they ask for info like SSN, I don't think so!

This is NOT Verizon, like other people said it is company contracted through a company that is contracted through Verizon. Complain to Verizon, they are not authorized to ask for any of this info and do not have the power to change your contract. Why a company would risk their contract with Verizon by contracting scammers is beyond me. Complain to Verizon, they will get sick of it and do something

VZW does this to help you avoid high overages that might put a bad taste in your mouth about Verizon Wireless.  The texts/phone calls are based on the last 3 months of usage, so you may not currently be over your texting, data, or voice minutes.  They will offer to put you on the next plan up for service and backdate the plan, which will often bring your overages way down.  You can always switch back the next billing cycle if it was a one-time overage. If you are unsure of the validity of any text/call from VZW, dial *611 from your handset to contact Verizon Wireless customer service.  This is airtime free.  The number on the original post is authorized by Verizon Wireless.  The center is actually out of Tampa, and does have new representatives as all call centers do.  The rep will be dealt with when the quality assurance hears her.  You can always complain about a rude representative through *611, and the call will be pulled and the representative dealt with (coached/terminated).  You will be required to give the last 4 digits of your SSN or the password you set up on your account before making any changes or getting any information on the account.  I hoppe this sheds some light on things.

I got a call just now. I called them back and they said I have overages on my account. She then asked for my number. Why would she need my number if I CALLED HER FROM IT? She asked me to confirm and I said I'll just check online. She sounded pissed when I said that. If there's a mistake then I'll find it on my bill and work it out.

It's NOT verizon wireless.  I got a call too but the woman didn't sound trained enough to be a verizon rep. I told her i didn't believe it was verizon and she fessed up that it was a call center in miami florida "authorized" by verizon to call me because I may be over my minutes or alloted text messages for the month.  I tested her by asking what's the number I can call to check my minutes (#min) and she didn't know.      I told her to not call again.         I read they ask for info such as SSN address and she asked me for my wireless number.    Don't give her any info.
