Something similar happened to someone I know but it wasn't from that number.  It was a different number which turned out to be the phone no. associated with the data plan on their iPad.  They didn't realize they hadn't turned off the data plan and when they exceeded their minutes they were getting charged.  They didn't make the connection.  Don't know how you are getting charged if you don't currently or never had a Verizon plan.  Sorry.

I kept seeing this charge on my am/ex forever!  What a dunce I am.  I thought it was a charge for the data service on one of my children's iPads. I think I even know who is probably doing it.  Verizon is perplexed but after reading the first posts in this blog I see I have probably been scammed.  I hate liars and crooks.  Honestly.  I know Jesus loves them and I am supposed to, but right now I am just mad.

i did received several calls from this number, i wasn't at home because at was traveling, I did no received any message either, but now i discovered from this website where this calls coming from....thanks for your help. Now i will check with my credit cards...is something wrong is happen.

This is a total scam.  I called my credit company (american express) and they removed the charges.  I tried calling their number at 888-294-6804 and no one would pick up.  I was on hold for 30 minutes.  If you see this $20 charge, call you credit card company immediately and speak with their fraud dispute center.  

This company made $1000 worth of fradulent charges on my credit card. call your credit card company immediately to report

i couldnt get into my verizon acc kept saying wrong numb so it said call this numb so i did she ask me 4 my email so she can send me a email to change my acc numb low n behold i still aint got no email n she ask if i wanted to make a pay today i said no my boyfriend went to get me a prepaid card ill do it myself still waiting on that email lol hope they realize they found a broke bi*** hahaha

Yep, it just happened to me.  I paid my Verizon wireless prepaid phone on saturday, and the following day Chase Bank listed 2 charges of $54.40... both with the 888#.  One was listed as Verizon, the other as POS Debit Iguel L. Ca..  So far Chase Claims is unable to determine which is the legitimate charge and which is the fraudulent - if either is even legitimate.  No one has my debit card info, and Verizon is no help at all.

i just had 53.50 tooken from my checking acount the banker gave me the number  8882946804  and i dont have nothing from verizon let alone a pre paid phone card .. i want my money back ???

I was charged $86.60 on my card and never called or used this card in months.I had it all paid off,but now someone found my #! I never received any calls,or made any calls!

I live and work in Egypt.. and never had a verizon phone or internet or anything really... I live in on the other side of the world..!!! and found two VZWRLSS transactions on my credit card for 250 and 147 dollars.. bank in Egypt thought this is fishy and called me immediately and card was disabled..

I thought it is going to be an easy task to talk to Verizon about it as I come from a very far country and have nothing to do with them.. and my credit card is issued from bank in Egypt.. calling their customer service was useless.. they kept directing me to each other and then back to customer care.. wasting thirty minutes of international dialing..

The bank will try to handle the issue.. but sure a major fraud is going on here.. Bank here in Egypt might have limited powers..

    somebody broke into my mail bax and stole my new debit card. They charged $60 on this number as a prepaid card. I did not authorize it...it was a stolen card. The bank said a hold on these funds will be placed on my account until it is investigated. How can I find out more info about who made this purchase?

Today I googled a phone number on a debit card transaction for my mother.  It was a charge for $50.00  for something prepaid for  "Vzwrlss" and a Customer Svc phone number 888-294-6804.  Calling the number was futile because it asks for the pre-paid phone number, of course which we did not have, nor did we have any knowledge of.  We canceled the card and started the refund/fraud reporting process.  In the meantime I began reading the hundreds of notes left by victimized people all over.  No wonder our banking system is failing....paying the debt of these criminals. Further reading led to the conclusion that the card numbers and the security codes are being phished and sold to ?? to buy air time for people in prison ie. Folsom state prison in Calf.  These career criminals aren't really able to be on the street but their signature work is with the help of their cronies.   Why should good law abiding citizens be allowed to be victimized by someone who is incarcerated? How is it we have homeless people and cared for criminals?  They should all be balled and chained, building railroads and working to have a roof over their heads and food provided.  Period.  I have been told it's corrupt in prison and you can get whatever you want.  I'm over it.  How about You America???  Had enough??   I started a petition today....since this has been happening as far back as 2007 and nothing has changed, except our debit cards. change.org

Just had this happen to me....cancelled my card...disputed charges..called Verizon..no help at all!  Verizon knows this is going on...why don't they text all of us to warn us????

After some investigation, I found out it was my data plan for my iPad 4G with Verizon Wireless.
Completely forgot...

The exact same thing just happended to me. Verizon gave me the run around and said I had to fax my bank statement to show proof! Needless to say I AM PISSED...

you can dispute it with your card company.

I logged into my online checking/debit card account that i have thru my bank to see what my balance was because i had to make sure i had enough money in my account to pay the college that i go to for my classes this semester. I had noticed a weird "Check Description" that says: CHK PURCH PIN VZWRLSS DEBITMA VISN FOLSOM CA VZWRLSS DEBITMA VIS. I then noticed i was CHARGED  $97.80 from this company on the date of 8/27/12. The only other transaction that was made on that same date was me making a DEPOSIT of $150. A few days later on my bank statement it shows I also made a payment of $73.03 to Verizon Wireless on 8/30/12. But the Check Description for this one was the normal one that says:  
VZ WIRELESS VN E CHECK. So I logged into my online account thru Verizon to see if i had made two payments on my cell phone bill for some reason, but sure enough, i logged into my account and it ONLY shows the ONE payment that i DID MAKE of $73.03 on 8/30/12. I have gotten a call from this number before but i do not have it in my phone log anymore. AND i am now receiving other number that are almost like this one they are start with 888-???-???. I NO longer answer them. But i do not know where to go from here. Should i go to my bank first and show them this whole website that i found when i copied and pasted: CHK PURCH PIN VZWRLSS DEBITMA VISN FOLSOM CA VZWRLSS DEBITMA VIS  into my google web browser and bring in my statement that shows the payments i have made to Verizon Wireless?

I discovered a $200 debit payment to a closed Verizon account.  I do not pay Verizon on line because my bill is automatically payed by my credit card.  I do not recall making the payment. My bank sent them a fax to credit back the money but they keep stalling, telling me that they need a void check with a routing number when my bank already sent the info; and it was an online transaction.  So I called again and got a different person saying that what they promised me (they will credit the money) was not noted on my file.  So I said just write me a check and send it to me.  After 4 weeks of going back and forth for them to credit the money back, I made sure I print screened the email with the date in case I take them to small claims court I have proof,  I sent letters to Verizon headquarters to let them know that the customer service representative I talked to promised that the check will be mailed by this week 8-28-12 and I have a delivery confirmation receipt.

I looked into my account and noticed the same charges. Mine was for only 30$ a month from VZWRLSS.Verizon said it was for 3G for my iPad. This has been confirmed by my bank that its the 3G that I have on my iPAD. For the Cell coverage.
I dont remember agreeing to it but... it was a while ago.

This vzwrlss prepaid scam is worldwide! I booked several hotels in the US and then the charges started appearing on my credit card. Not only do I not have an account with any American telco but I live in Australia! I also have charges from Sprint wireless as well as Vesta Boost Prepaid so I am feeling pretty popular as well as angry. Needless to say, I have cancelled my credit card but I have to contact all of the hotels and booking agents to give them my new details so whose to say it won't happen again?
I just hope that it doesn't mess up any of my bookings. I would have used paypal but a lot of places don't take it if you live outside of America.

This company is also charging our american express, twice a month for the past two months.

its May 2012 and I just discoverd I am being billed from a verizon poster as well with this 888-294-6804 number appearing on my bank statement with the charge, verizon has no charges to my account from them for anything yet I have been getting 2 charges a month for 20.84 since January, coincidently i orderd 2 prepaid cells from verizon and got them and had them set up for each to be 20 auto pay, the phones came like they were suppose to and worked just fine when i activated them but the minutes/service i was billed never made it to my 2 phones . I think this is a phising scam, somone is posing as verizon and selling the cell phones and service as if they are verizon,mailing out prepaid cells you can buy at any store, then billing you for service themselves instead of it coming from the real verizon, so verizon if your reading this, u might want to check it out and as for me filed a fraudulant charge with my bank which is actually a great bank and didnt need a bail out from the govt, and is reimbursing me my losses
