Fig, for the past few days I have been researching this scam and have learned that "Disabled Veterans Services" is just a segment of a very large, very well run operation that, by dubious accounting practices, has managed to steer clear of IRS prosecution. A common tactic among "shadow" organizations such as this one is to use a name or acronym that sounds very close to a legitimate organization. In this instance "Associated Community Services" has the same acronym  (i.e ACS) as the American Cancer Society.

this number called my house and left no message.i screen my calls, so its rude not to leave a message. solicitors, stop calling my house.

they call my home several times a day ...have asked them to stop as i am on the no call list and they continue to call anyway

Someone calls my phone at least five times each day.

Received call from this number 12-20-2009.  They told my son that they have a package at their office with my name and social security number on it and they need to validate before they send it.  Would not leave name of company or any other information.

Caller calls and hangs up.

I get this call every hour every day of the week for the past three weeks. They leave no message, this is driving me MAD...!

I get 2 calls a day from this number 7 days a week.

Most recent call was less than 15 minutes ago.  Have received them numerous times but mostly I don't answer if I don't recognize the number as someone we do business with (some of our lawn services, etc. have 800 numbers).
Hit me at the wrong time this morning and I answered.  Had to say hello a couple times and a pleasant voice said Hello, and called me by my last name.  That always strikes me as odd.  He wished me a happy st. patrick's day and said he was calling for the Disabled Veterans.  Sure.
I told him that we give locally to the charities we want to give to and that they might as well take us off their list.  I didn't wait for a reply.  Just hung up.
I had already noted the number and I have a list of the ones who call all the time.  I just don't answer any more.  And I won't answer that one if they call again.   I assume they are a non-profit org. but I have my doubts if it's really legitimate.

I am tired of this number calling several times a day. They will not leave a number or mesage on my answering machine.

On caller ID...no msg.  Getting tired of these bs calls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hung up as soon as I answered.

Rec'd a few calls from 888-296-8044 - according to my CID. They never leave a message. Well, today they made the mistake of calling me while I was eating lunch. When I saw the number, I picked up and said Hello (3 times - that in itself tells you it is a telemarketer), once the guy said Hello, I blasted him:  I am eating lunch AND I am on the Do Not Call List, said good bye and hung up.  I HATE having to treat people that way, but it seems to be the only way to get them to stop calling is to be nasty.  I have 3 organizations that I donate to - when the money allows and I cannot afford any more - no matter the reason.  Our government is in such sad shape, greedy politicians getting as much money as possible into their pockets without a care in the world for the public.  WHY does the Do Not Call list not work???  Why do they have to have such nice buildings, offices, office equipment - if you look at the pictures it is ALL top of the line stuff, no wonder our government programs DONT WORK!  The money goes into stupid stuff and pockets!!

This company has been calling for months!!  Several times a day, several times a night.  I have been saying quite firmly in the phone for them not to call here again that we are on the do not call list.  They just sit on the phone, they don't hang up, they don't speak.  I am sick of these calls.  They should not be able to call my number when they've been told repeatedly to stop.

Received a call today from this number.  I no longer give to any charities who hire telemarketers for fund raising.  Give one time and you will have dozens of veterans and cancer orginizations calling you forever.  I do not answer toll free or calls from unfamiliar area codes assuming all are scams.  Since none of them leave a message, I feel confident that my assumptions are correct.

these ppl are sharks they wait for me to leave the room so they can call my 85 year old vets widow of a grandmother and harass her about giving them hundreds of dollers of the fixed income. thats cool though i'm taking action. already called the local sherriffs office, the florida dept of agraculture and place my phone number on the national do not call list and if you have these problems you should do all 3 of the same, because somewhere they are robbing some 85 year old grandma who wont just say no to a vet.think of your grandma.

Continues to call and leaves no message.  We have blocked the phone number from ringing through.

Weary of this nonsense.

This is beyond right!!!   These idiots call and call and call....leave no message...I tried to answer to tell them to stop calling and there is no one there....2 minutes later...they call back!!!  He said...we need support for Disabled Vets.....sorry no money...and please take me off the list....he started talking over me and said that "WE DON'T NEED TO HEAR THAT"...........I hung up after calling him an ignorant a**!

Comcast Digital Voice has a WONDERFUL Call Screening feature for these type of calls. All you have to do is dial *60 to create a list of numbers to "block" from your phone. The only problem is that you can only block 12 numbers. I need to block AT LEAST 30 (ha, ha)!

I've donated to the Disable Veterans and all the other military organizations that I could. Now I'm retired and have no extra $. They thank me for my earlier contributions by calling me daily. I see the 888 numbers so don't answer any more.

Please remember that the people you talk to are not disabled veterans, themselves. Probably not military veterans at all. It is a company that the organization hires to solicit donations. If they knew that some of the "telemarketers" were being rude to people, they company would probably lose the contract.

I just knew any phone that was this annoying would have a sounding board.Read all the other complaints and I wish we couls stop these people in their tracks!!!!Do they get paid or are they that bored????

Keep calling - If I (man) answers they hang up. If woman answers they ask for donations. Annoying. We once gave a donation to a cancer charity - now we are overloaded with calls. Unfortunately, I will not donate to charities like this anymore. I keep sending to 'Do Not Call' complaint, but, no results yet.

This organization continues to call after I told them to stop.

Called at 10:21 am PDT, and I asked to be put on their Do Not Call list. There are so many of these "charities" it's hard to tell if I had asked before to be removed from their calling list.

I talked to them last year, if it was the disabled vets, asked for a donation, told them at that time I could not afford to donate, he was very rude & plain out told me, "okay, let the vets die then"  how rude & stupid was that comment.........they have called me again, starting last week, at least 4 times a day, getting tired of it, my mom is quite ill & every time the phone rings, I jump, but glad I have caller ID

We received 4 calls today and three yesterday.  

Once or twice identified as Diasbled Veternan Services but, mostly hung up when called person not available.
