Thank you for your post. I just called Coast to Coast Renewal services and told them that I wanted to cancel my account because "I recently lost my job and couldn't afford the magazine subscriptions any longer." The lady wanted to put my account on hold until March, but I was insistent that I wanted to cancel all together. She finally said that she would cancel the account... we'll see if I am charged anymore.

I am also a victim of this scam but the number from the Previous Employee is a number from Craig's list wanting tele- marketing reps. It is not the number to the company. I just called it. There are a lot of these going around and the one that contacted me is Coast to coast Renewal from Huntsville, Alabama. Be aware of them too. I should have looked them up the first time they called me and I hung up on them. The number I have is 1-800-798-0694.

I started receiving magazines about 2 months ago and couldn't figure out why. Then I got a call from a woman named Samantha. She asked me if I had been getting the magazines and I told her yes but I never signed up for any. She said I must have been signed up through a company that I signed up for something else. I told her I read all of the fine print on stuff that I sign up for and magazines was not on there, nor did I get any notification saying that I was signed up. She told me there was a grace period that I missed in order to cancel. I can't afford $3.67 a week for crap I dont read. She said she would give me her discount, so I asked to be directed someone that can cancel my account because she said she could not. The next guy I was directed to said he would shorten my term to 24 months but the payment would still be $49.95 a month. Then he said he was going to direct me to his book keeper to verify. The so called "book keeper", his name was BRIAN! I explained to him that I never signed up for these stupid magazines, I am unemployed and have two kids to pay for and I can't afford to pay for these. He told me he would go ahead and cancel it because I was so nice to him, and he is allowed to do this only twice a day. Well one month later i am still getting magazines and have been charged $49.95 for them. Someone else called from some magazine company and told me I have to pay for them right now. I told him the last person I talked to told me it was canceled. He said thats not what shows up on the system and I have to pay for it now or it would go to collections. WELL I don't want this to ruin my credit because I am going to try and buy a house in the next year, so I paid it. Now I don't know how to get out of it! I wrote the security code down on an empty envelope with their number and his name and my husband threw it away. So now I have no idea how to get a hold of them! The only thing that comes up on my bank statement is MAGAZINES  $49.95. It doesnt say the company name or anything! How do I take something like this to court?

I received a call from them 3 years ago and they told me they will only charge me 1 time fee and its only 6 months subscription. Then after 6 months they gave my credit card info to other company and they started sending me magazine and started charging me again so i canceled my card and told them that i didn't ordered any magazine but as off today they still keep calling me on my cell phone, don't know how to get rid of this.

Woow!!!! Seriously whacked people, they did this to me about a couple months ago and the best way to deal with this is to change all ur bank info or new card. Also complain to the attorney general in which state it comes from and let them handle it. I also complained to bbb Nd consumer agfairs government agency. They r crooks and none of us have time for this crap!!! But don't stress too hard just take care of it. It's annoying b in control. Be careful.

I had the same thing happen.  The person said I alrady signed up for these magizines and I would be getting them soon.  I hadn't received any maginzines or been charged the 39.95  for 30 months that he said.  I am scared I will have to pay this on my credit card.  What should I do?

Phuckery.. I actually hung up the first several (EIGHT) times these people called me.. not including the one time they woke me up..  I am gonna call my bank, and have them do a conference call, and fix this..  They scammed me saying that, because my card was new, and they had the OLD card number, that they would be charging me the full price of 69.99 a month, for three years!! WTF?right!?
I don't know, whatever they did, somehow, they also asked me for my social security number (which, I for some reason gave them).. I am furious, and wanna kill someone right now.. and it is after hours.  GODDAAMMIT.. Complete PHUCKERY

I had the same thing happen to me and ended up calling my bank and then having them do a conference  call to the main number, 717-378-4484. We spoke to Ed who was very helpful and got it cancelled.

He was A+ in being polite and helpful not like the ones who contact us.

I received the exact phone call tonight.  Immediately I was suspicious when she could not give me the name of my magazine subscription and there was a ton of background noise.  I did agree to the address and age verification and right away a "supervisor" came on line and told me I had the additional 36 months left on the subscription and it would auto renew for 4 yrs, but he could remove the renewal on my account.  Since I did not have a SS# or birthdate on file they needed to confirm my credit card #.  He rattled off 4 digits with expiration.  I refused to verify info stating I have never signed on for a mag using my card.  He gave me the 8882998272 number to call back and clarify the acct and sent me straight to a cheaper TV cable auto ad.  I hung-up and called right back to be told the "call center" was not open.  They placed the original call from a Tampa, FL area landline 8132175938.  I told my husband we may be closing our card.  I have yet to find any unwanted charges, but just to be safe.

I just got a call from Costal Readers saying I was on a 36 month magazine  renewal program. I was told I signed up for this and they had my card number and information. I wanted to know when I signed because I am sure I never signed up for 36 months of subscriptions. I wanted to speak to the manager and he told me he was. His name was Michael Mado (?) I couldn't quite make it out. He gave me this number to call 1-888-299-7302. I have called it numerous times only to be put on hold and then after 3 minutes dicsonnected. Very frusttrating.

just got same call.  caller ID showed 832-260-0108, man asked if i was receiving magazines ok.  i never ordered any and told him this.  he said he showed me as having a subscription for better homes and gardens (which i would never waste my money on) and then asked for my age.  i asked him why he needed my age to cancel some bogus subscription and he transferred me to a "superviser" name Jason Grant from C.R.S.  Coastal Reader Service. he gave number 888-299-8272 to call with any questions.  and he had to nerve to ask if the first guy on the phone treated and spoke to me professionally.  LOL

DONT FALL FOR IT !   there have been no charges on my account and i will be watching intently to see if there are any in the future.
Good Luck to everyone , hope no one gets taken by these low-lifes !

Yup... Got exactly the same story as the ex-employee described... Also verbatim! After the first rep I talked to switched me to his supervisor for verification, I could tell he simply handed him the phone. Funny thing was that just seconds earlier, he told me I could get my free gifts & then cancel the subscriptions to the magazines but asked me not to slip up & say anything to his boss about the fact that that he told me I could do that! I didn't give them my card number & am now going to call them & tell them to remove me from their list. What a bunch of crap!

I received a call about 30 minutes ago pretty much asking what the employee said about confirming whether I am receiving my magazines on time or not. I signed up for a magazine scam a long time ago and I am still receiving some magazines so I figured it was because of that. They has the last 4 of one of my credit cards but I haven't seen anything charged. I told them that I paid my membership in full and I don't want anything else so he asked me for confirmation so I asked for a number to call him back. They gave me 888-299-8272 which worked when I called back. When I spoke with the person, it made me feel a little bit better that they didn't really have my card. They said that they would call me back. They scare you but as long as you don't agree to anything or give them your credit card information again, you should be fine.

I was told the same thing except I took the survey for and Apple Ipad2, that I never received, and now I'm on the line with them to cancel, because not only did I not receive the Ipad2 (Like I ever was) but I also didn't receive any magazines. I mean I might be stupid for thinking I'm going to receive a item that sells for $500.00 after paying only $23.00 for magazines, but I actually thought that maybe it was just a blessing and that they were trying to get rid of the Apple Ipad2 before the new Ipad3 was to be released. Guy's just don't fall for anything they say no matter what, from now on I will just save my money and purchase whatever I want from the store, including magazines.

i took a survey online for a 1000.00 walmart gift card. a couple of days later i received a phone call from someone saying it was about the gift card. i was told that if i subscribed to magazines that i would receive the1,000.00 gift card in the mail and a 250.00 email credit to shop online. since that was the same amount of the subscriptions, i did.  i never received anything. i called and cancelled the mags. the lady was very persistant but so was i.

I am dealing with the same situation under "Coastal Reader Service". I received a call today and it went EXACTLY the way ex-employee explained it. Verbatim. I fortunately did not give my debit card number and instead requested that he call me back later today. I know I did not sign up for magazines- I'm a college student I don't have money for that. The man who spoke to me did know the number my card begins with though, which worries me. My question is this- by not giving my actual debit card number, did I manage to get out of this free from harm?
