I did not receive a phone call from this number 888-300-0933 as of yet, knock on wood.  But it was the same phone number on one of those notices you receive numerous times a year to put a car warranty on the vehicle you drive.  The pre-sort postal stamp was marked Sacramento, CA.  Though most of those notices have the make, model and year listed and once in a while the VIN number too and all this particular notice was Ford.  Also said transfer.  I do not put warranties on my vehicles as most times I never need the warranty and unless it comes through the dealership I do not trust who I might be dealing with.  So this phone number must be associated with numerous organizations or it has been spoofed or whatever you call it.

These people are from overseas. They were calling multiple times every day.  Then, I did redial about a dozen times and did not say a word.  I waited until the employee hung up and I dialed again with redial. I did this for 2 days after they called me.  I have not had a call in the past couple of days.  Not sure if my reverse harrassing worked permanently, but it makes me feel better!

This number keeps calling my phone several times a day.  Even as early as 7:00 a.m.  Why are these people calling me.  When I answer there is no one there.  I called this number back and they said if I had a reference number to type in the reference number or to type in my cell phone number.  I did not feel comfortable about doing that, so I hung up afraid that it may be some type of scam.  Thank you.

It's a collections agency grasping at straws.  Some deadbeat gave out my work number as his home phone number.  Now I get these calls at work looking for this deadbeat who never worked here.

I've been getting this phone call for awhile from 888-300-0933. They left a voicemail message with a reference #. I call it back & they ask me about an ex that I have not seen in 10 years in another state. What is going on? I hope my ex is not doing anything illegal with my personal info. If he is out there reading this please call 1-888-300-0933 reference #551036197823. They NEED TO TALK TO YOU.

These people call every half hour, leave a case number to refer to a call back and then they give a name. If that's not your name, they ask for your phone #, apologize for the inconvenience and hang up. I have done this twice in a week and it's really annoying!

When jerks like this won't quit calling, I put a coache's whistle beside the telephone and the very next time they call I give it to them!  Bet the next place they call is the freaking Miracle Ear hotline.  Of course this is a last resort after all the do not call.gov complaints and requests for them to cease and desist have failed to work.  It's kind of fun, too.  And when they start that "this is being recorded crap I tell them "Good, b/c I am recording you, too." When they say I can't do that I say "Stop me" and they hang up.  Most times they won't call back, at least from that same number.

These idiots don't care and "Do Not Call.gov" is a joke.  I have been signed up on there for years, have made numerous complaints, and they continue to call for people who do not and have never lived at this address.

Have been calling several times daily for a while.  Finally answered today and, of course, it was a recorded message stating to e-mail them with questions.  Spoke quickly and not able to understand.  Called back and spoke w/someone who barely spoke English.  The person they were calling for is family member who has been dead since 1982.  They acted like they were surprised.  Idiots.  I told them not to call here again.

THANKS FOR ALL THE POSTED INFORMATION!

Just got my "blessing" from this number for the first time and appreciate all the information posted since I didn't answer the phone.  I could hear a recorded message as my answering machine picked up and played my own message after the SIT tone "Your call cannot be completed as dialed.  Please check the directory and call again." and then disconnects.

This seems to work in many cases!  I get a lot of one-time calls from these pests (wouldn't dare call them what I want) and let the machine handle it.

I use an cheap old Uniden 5.8gHz set that has an "announce only" setting for the answering machine.  I recorded a telephone company message for a mis-dialed number and voila!, instant gratification.

For those that call back, I immediately add the new number to my telemarketing blocker program (kengolf) and then the USB56 Smartmodem handles it from then on.  Of course I log all such calls on a work sheet and file each occurance with the FCC & DNC.  If for nothing else, the betterment of my sanity and sanctity.

They call me about 10-15 times per day too. Like once an hour. I also have no collections, yet they asked for me by name. My experience sounds exactly like the others posted. I too need to know how to stop these calls. They call all day while I'm at work.

I don't answer unidentified toll free numbers.  These kinds of callers are harassing us, and should be fined heavy penalties.

Let me add a couple things.  I have the same name as someone else in a nearby large city and deal with debt collectors trying to find this other guy all the time.  I don't think it's a scam.  I think these debt collectors call everyone with the same name (or even close) in the phone book.  It's total BS that they conduct their business this way.  I'll probably call the Ohio AG to ask why these people are still calling people after they have received so many complaints about this company.

This number started calling my home phone a couple times a day.  Called it back last night and couldn't get through to a human.  Called back today and put my phone number in at the prompt, pressed one to verify my name then pushed one to say I wanted to arrange a payment on the debt they said I owed.  Tht was the only way their automated system would connect me to a human.  I tried various other ways with no luck.  Got a gentleman on the line and told him that he had two choices.
1) Remove my number from their computer or
2) I would file the 796th complaint with the Ohio Attorney General
He choose option one and told me that it might take 24 hours to get the calls to stop.  I informed him that if I received so much as one more call that I would go with option 1 above.  They haven't called back yet.  And I didn't make up that number of complaints.  The Ohio Attorney General has 795 complaints on these people.  Makes me wonder.  I was as polite as I could be with the man on the phone and I think that helped.

I don't answer numbers I don't recognize, especially toll-free numbers.  Congress needs to enact a law for these people to be charged $1.00 every time their number is reported on a site like this, because such calls invade our privacy, annoy us, and take up our valuable time.  Cell phone companies will have records of their outgoing calls.  Come on Congress, do something useful!
