I got another call from GRC today and he said per federal regulations, he couldn't tell me if his company was a debt collector. What a crock, the company website says what they are. I told him again that I would not release any information, and this time, I told him if he wanted information, to get a subpoena.
HR person 2013-04-17 17:58:57 Debt Collector
I called this company back and they would not tell me the nature of their business or why they needed the information. All they would say is that they needed to know if an employee was still active. Rep was aghast that I would not release any information without knowing what the call was about or without a signed release from employee.

Very upset when called about my Ex. They wouldn't give me any information only that they needed to talk to him. I explained that I no longer knew this person, but they insisted I take down a number and have him call back. This blog at least let me know that it's a collections agency. Whew! I'm glad they are not looking for me.

Just got a call on my answering machine to give _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ a message, her name is Terry Rayos and the number is 888-324-0245, Ref # xxxxxxxx and she understands I live next door. So I guess they even check out who your neighbors are and try to get them to have you call. After reading about this number, it seems I know something that should be none of my business. I have used this site for years and alway's check odd # here but this is a first for a C A calling a neighbor.
Confused on Christmas 2012-12-25 23:22:37 Unknown
I have received 4 calls today (Christmas)!!!!!!!!!! and no message was left the first two times. The second two calls I answered and got a automated voice asking for someone but the name was impossible to understand. It put me on hold and then told me to call back during normal business hours! It also had a option to let them know they are calling the wrong person and surprise, surprise there was no one there and to call back during their regular hours. Why would you even have this set up to call people when there is no one to take to calls. Seems to me like a extreme form of stupidity and harassment.

Got a call about my brother, saying he listed me as a reference. They did not use the name I go by so I knew it wasn't legit.

I received phone calls from this number. once I answer no one speaks. I called back from another phone number, and they say they do not have my number in their system... that they cannot help me. that there is nothing they can do. isnt it stupid for the company to be calling me and they do not have any info on me???

I did a google search on this number and I think it is GRC is a debt collector for Student loans with Sallie Mae. They called me a left a message saying that my son left my name for a reference. I called tonight and the office is closed and they identify them as GRC.

They just called me about my student loan, which was all true. They are a student loan collection agency that work for Sallie Mae, Student Assistance Corporation and many others. When you don't pay your student loan they contract General Revenue Corporation to ensure they get the student loan paid back. They will work with you to get you out of default so your credit does not get messed up with low payment options. If you decide not to pay, the Government can withhold your tax return refund as a method of payment towards your loan... after all, it is a Gov't Loan. This company is legit. They verify they are talking to the right person: Last Digits of S.S.#, D.O.B. and address and phone #'s... They don't ask you, they tell you while all of this is being monitored and recorded.

Told them I was now permanently disabled, no assets and basically living like an animal on a tiny gov check, they will NOT stop hassling you, so just block their sorry A**es, nothing but a bunch of vultures!

They call early and often, dispite they fact I have notified them this is for my 21 year old son, who lives 2 states away. I am not a co-signer on the loan. I am ready to report them to the FTC.
OOOOOO 2010-04-22 15:15:26 Unknown
Heh if you don't pay them back what would happen? nothing, they can't take your degree or what not back. Hell if it goes to collection what can those people do but waste their time calling you. Just block every number they try to call with.

My problem is my lovely parents have their own defaulted school loans & put me down as a reference originally. Now they of course have moved several times and changed their number so now I get all of the calls from these people by default. Thanks mom and dad!

Yep - that's me. What kills me is I worked with Student Assistance over the last 4 months - told them I was the only person working in my 4 person family, that I provided for everything, and that I couldn't afford to make the $190/month payment they were asking. I kept asking for forbearance and they said no. I applied for hardship, and they said no and said I made too much money. Apparently not if I have to constantly sacrifice $$ every month for something unexpected (having spent $800 I did not have on car repairs) and today is the first day they are calling me. They call my office main number - got rude with the RECEPTIONIST and she told them they couldn't talk to me at work because it's a personal matter and I'm not allowed to take calls like that at work. Sound familiar? I don't appreciate it either. So yeah, I agree working it out with them - but paying $50/month doesn't touch the balance due and the dent only gets bigger so why stress my family over that. I'll deal with them as soon as someone hires my husband and he's actually making money we can live on ... not this ramen, pb&j, rice and beans crap.

Screw the debt collection agencies, they make money off of selling your information.

Probable debt collector on my son's outstanding loans. My son is of age and not living at home, unemployed and on public assistance. These constant calls are getting way old....
Sandra Burden 2010-03-16 19:35:49 Debt Collector
Call from them at this present moment, always calling on a Tuesday. My debt is with Sallie Mae not them and payments are going to Sallie Mae I may be late but the payments are getting there, obviously they are not being returned. The not so funny thing is that when I was living in my house Sallie Mae never once sent my negro a** a letter asking for payments but since I moved into the apartments and is making payments they want to start harrassement. I just stayed on the phone silently and let the co-workers wondered what the f*** was happening.

if you owe a debt with the school they say, its the right date of birth, and last four of your ss. then its you! just work with the people and take care of your business. its just going to gain interest the longer you put it off and eventually they wont have it anymore and your wages will be garnished by the goverment or taxes, ss ect. if you talk to a rude person call back and get someone else. there are tons of people working there willing to help.

recieved a call from very rude male that said his name is NATHAN TRAYLOR, demanding for money that I did not have at the moment, refused to give me some time to gather some money together in this tough economy, raising his voice against mine, threatening wage garnishment from a laid off female. The company is legit and they collect on defaulted student loans. I resolved the issue when another soft spoken male called me a few days later and offered me a program that fits my need.

Left a voicemail in barely intelligible English. Repeatedly referred to me via a presumed nickname based on my real first name - that I NEVER go by. Indicated it was a collection agency calling about my delinquent college student loan from a school I did not attend (not to mention that I graduated from grad school in the 1980's!) Also provided "W26" as the telephone extension.
