Same. I got the call from Comcast, and was fully on board with $2 movie channels until she wanted to transfer me to the 3rd party verification site (called 'Astonish' or something similar). I told her I wasn't comfortable with that - it just seemed too weird that they were calling to offer me these movie channels for next to nothing, and then transferring me to a third party to 'verify' my acceptance of the offer. I hung up and then called Comcast myself (I called the local number, not the toll-free national one). They verified that it's a real promotion, and Astonish is legit (and that they collect either DOB or last four of your SSN, neither of which would be enough alone to steal someone's identity).
However, I called Comcast national later that day regarding something unrelated (slow internet speed), and the guy I talked to there hadn't heard of that promotion. He said that happens sometimes if it's a promotion that's only offered in certain regions - that's why other Comcast reps aren't familiar with it.

and the phone number verification is b***s***. I am the one that wants to port a number, of course I am going to say I have authorization to do so. The ONLY people that need to be contacted to verify if I am allowed to is the phone company which I would be leaving.
There are too many third party billing scams going on in the world to have to deal with this crap.

I received a call from a 630 number and they were offering "cheaper" promotions. They asked date of birth or last 4 digits of ss#, I gave dob. Then I was transferred to astonish. We were disconnected but I did call Comcast and they confirmed that the call was from them and that Comcast does call costumers to offer promotions going on in their area. So for me this was not a scam. Just wanted to let you all know.

I emailed Comcast about this number. This is the response:
I have checked our resources and it shows that while Comcast goes to great lengths to protect the privacy and security of its customers, some customers may encounter scams designed to steal telephone service or personal information from the customer.
Tips to Help You Recognize Phone Fraud
1. Telemarketers must tell you if it's a sales call, the name of the seller and what they are selling before they tell you any additional information.
2. Ask about additional charges you need to pay before receiving a free prize or gift. If you have to pay it is a purchase not a gift.
3. By law, telemarketers are only able to call between 8 A.M. and 9 P.M..
4. If you have any doubts about the caller's intentions or methods, end the call.
Some scammers have adapted ?phishing? techniques used online to obtain personal information such as Social Security Numbers, credit card information, or passwords from unsuspecting people to the telephone. You will receive an automated message that sounds like it comes from a company that indicates a problem with your account and requests personal information to fix it.
Some of these calls are made in conjunction with new technology called caller ID ?spoofing? that manipulates caller IDs to make customers believe that the call originated from a legitimate company?s phone system.
Always be extra cautious when giving out personal information over the telephone. Be aware of the companies that you do business with. If you are unsure whether a call is legitimate, hang up and call the company back at a telephone number you know.
How to Report Phone Fraud:
* Visit ftc.gov or call 1-877-FTC-HELP.
* To report violations of the National Do Not Call Registry, visit DoNotCall.gov or call 1-888-382-1222. (If your name is on the Do Not Call Registry, you should only received calls from companies that you do business with or companies that you gave permission to call. If you receive a call from another company, report it. You will need the name and number of the caller and date and time of the call.)
* The complaint that you report will be submitted into the Consumer Sentinel Network, which is a database that is used by law enforcement agencies across the world. It helps them to track down the culprits and eventually stop the fraud.

I agree with you, it is a SCAM. Why would Comcast call you up with such bad quality of a call and want you to agree over the phone for services you never ordered. If you are a customer with them then you have all the services you need or want and if you want more you contact them not the other way around. SCAM for sure. Wonder how you can get on the no call list from comcast. Does comcast sell telephone numbers to solicitors for money. If they do I will cancel service with them... Shame on comcast .

Received telephone call after telephone call from 888-322-5932 claiming to be Comcast. Called comcast and they are not aware of a scam. Don't think comcast employees know anything cause the calls go overseas to a bunch of idiots that don't understand. I got a call saying I needed to go through an automated system to accept a service agreement with Comcast. The quality of the call itself was pretty bad .I asked what the agreement was for and why I had to agree to it, and he just said something about it being standard practice. Bunch of SCAM artists trying to get information from you. Don't fall for it. SCAM SCAM SCAM

I wonder. I never did go to the Comcast office, only because I forget and when i do remember, it's after hours. I'm just going to continue to ignore the calls. It's just annoying that they call every blasted day!

I received this call as well. Called it back and I received a woman who started the call with, "Hello I am calling on behalf of comcast...I..." then she hung up. I have to assume she realized she screwed up after realizing I called the number...not the other way around. I called back becuase it seemed bizzare and was hung up on again. It is definitely a phishing scam. I looked up the number and tah-dah...here I am reading everyone else's story.

Same thing! They claim to be comcast calling to verify the terms of your comcast agreement. You have to answer the robo-call with "hello" any other word(s) and the robocaller hangs up. Answer "hello" and you are transfered to a live person. Interestingly enough they knew my first amd last name. I smelled the phish straight away and began asking questions. While being transferred to the quote 3rd party vendor I grabbed my wife's phone and called the 888 number, a recorded message stated that "comcast is now closed". That's BS!!! Comcast is open 24x7!!! The first recorded verification system command requests your first and last name, second command asks for your DOB or last 4 of social. Scam scam scam!!! I only stayed on the line to ensure it was a scam. If this ever happens to you just stay on the line and mess with them. When they ask for name, say "Santa Clause" give them a birthday that's in the future like 10-10-2064 and an address like 666 suck a D street. It's better to clog-up their scam operation with bogus data that they have to sort through. Still they are stealing about 1000-5000 identities per day with ease. I would wager that 8 out 10 people fall for this.
I have reported them to the FBI's fraud division already and would recommend that everyone who reads this does the same: https://tips.fbi.gov/

I too got a call from these people. Something about "FCC requires us to confirm account holders, blah, blah, blah, we're gonna transfer you to a third-party automated verification system, etc, etc.." Lady talks so fast that it pressures you into thinking this is a legitimate call. Luckily, I realized something seemed fishy and quickly googled the number as I was talking to her and stumbled onto this website, just in time! DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!

Iv'e been getting calls from this number for months, but I don't normally answer numbers I don't know. I finally got sick of it and answered it today. Had to say hello twice before I got a response and it sounded like a teenager. Asked for me by name. I asked what the call was in regards to and they responded, 'comcast'. I paused and asked what information they wanted from me and they responded by hanging up. Sounds like a bunch of B.S. to me! I'm guessing they won't be calling back, or at least i'm hoping.

About 6pm I received a call from this number 888-322-5932. I did not answer it because I was on the other line. They left no message and I'm glad I looked it up . I've applied at so many jobs lately that I thought it might be a possible interview. Thank goodness for the internet , now I know its a scam :(

Even tho I've already commented about this number before, I thought I'd do it again today. Just got this number calling me again. They call daily at various times, but more often between 5-8 pm, thinking I'll be home, which I am but I never answer any call with Unknown Name as the CID.
Tonight, I again called Comcast to verify what these calls might be about. I called the billing department. The rep I had on the phone (located in the Philippines, btw) first told me that the need for 3rd party verification for Comcast is ONLY for any Comcast customer who orders PHONE service from them. However, he later stated that I DID need to have in independent contract verification, and that there IS an early termination fee in my contract.
I told him that I was never told about ANY early termination fee at the time I agreed to the promo deal I was offered for high speed internet and cable tv only. I also said that the last person I contacted about this on Oct. 4th said the early termination fee WILL BE WAIVED, yet I still have never been sent a copy of the contract, nor verification of the early termination fee being waived, nor was I told I would need to have my contract verified by an independent 3rd party.
He then said it is possible that the phone number calling me is the independent verification company, but he could not be 100% certain. The phone number was not one that was listed for the company they use to do the verification. He also said, there is no reason for the verification company to ask for my birthdate as that is not something they have in my records so they could NOT use it to verify I am who I say I am. They only ask me for my name and the last 4 digits of my Soc. Sec. No.
Therefore, I do not think this company that is calling from 888-322-5932 is legit. I will call Comcast again tomorrow, during normal business hours, to see if I can get any more info to put on here. In the meantime, don't answer the calls or give them ANY information. If they call you, they should provide YOU with the info they are looking for, but for now, I would NOT say YES to anything, and DO NOT give them ANY PERSONAL information about yourself, just to be on the safe side.

Hey guys. I work in sales for comcast and its 100% not a scam. The company is called "Istonish". Check out their website they are legit. They do third party verification for Comcast whenever a minimum term agreement is required or whenever a telephone number is being ported from a different carrier to Xfinity voice.

If you agreed to a promo, and failed to do the third party verification, you will get a call to confirm. Comcast will just send you back to 3rd party verification or your promo price goes back to full rate pricing.

Got a call from the same number and looked it up - glad I did since it got me to this forum. I called 1-800-COMCAST and the customer service rep said that that's not any type of service they would use - they use their own automated verbal confirmation system that you are transferred to right away during a call and do not use a third party system.
So - it apparently could be a scam . . . the customer service rep is looking into it.
My advice - hang up immediately, call Comcast and let them know about this.

I just got the third call in two weeks from this number. I hung up on them after I looked it up online and saw that it was a scam. I called Comcast and they said it definitely wasn't from them. The woman on the call talks so so fast that you can't understand and you feel very pressured. I asked her if she had my account number and she lied that she did, but she did indeed have my home address.

Got a call from this number today. Like people mentioned above, they claimed to be a third party verification company for Comcast. After giving me his speech, I asked what it was in regards to, and he said it was to verify that I am the decision maker of the account and something to the effect of verifying the lock in of my current promotional rate. I then inquired about what rate he was talking about because we hadn't made any changes to our account for a while. He then hung up on me.
Phishers for sure.

I just got this call too. I didn't answer it. After looking here and seeing what's been written, I called Comcast to inquire what it was about . Was also told it had to do with verifying my new package deal. Seems it was never verified and no contract was sent to me. Also was asked did I want to keep it as it is now. Answered yes. Was told that since I didn't have a contract sent to me that the early termination fee has been cancelled, but my service package will continue at the price I was given, as was stated by the rep I bought it from when I called to sign up.
I'm now concerned that since I don't have a contract that perhaps I should have an actual written one. Will go to the Comcast office tomorrow to get that.
