Called the number back, B of A debt collections, why argue with me if I don't know who the person he is calling for. I understand debt collection, but harassing people who don't even know who or what your talking about is just plain mean & harassing!

I just got a call from this number.  The person identified herself being from Bank of America and askws to speak with me (she mentioned my name).  After I said that it was me she then asked me to confirm the last four digits of my social security and my home address. HA!!! Obviously, I declined to give/confirm any personal information and I asked what the call was about and she declined to say until I gave her the information she was asking.  Needless to say I just hung up.

I'm a Bank of America customer but I will not give any personable identifiable information (PII) over the phone to anyone who calls me (even my wife).  Watch out for anyone asking stuff they shouldn't be asking.

I was receiving phone calls from this phone number even though my loan payments were current. However, there was some interest that was owed but it can be paid at the end of the loan. A BoA representative explained this to me. They asked if it was okay to contact me regarding that and I told them 'no'. After that, the phone calls stopped.

I started getting 2-3 calls per day from this number.  My digitone call blocker stops them from going thru but the number still shows up on my tv and caller id.  I called back and only got thru by entering a fake social and fake zip code.  The lady said they were BofA home remediation department and I told her I don't do business with BofA.  She apologized for the calls and said she would have the number removed.  Let's hope!

Has called me multiple times. Finally answered out of irritation. When I answered the girl said she was from Bank of America and needed to verify the last 4 of my SSN. When I would not give her this she asked me to verify my address which I still would not give. She wouldn't tell me what the call was about without me verifying my information, she just said it was a "business" call. I ended the call. I called Bank of America to see what the issue was as I have a mortgage with them. Was told it was a "friendly" reminder about my payment. It is Dec. 11. My payment is not due until the 16th and I have not made late payments before. Why are they calling me about this suddenly? Was told by the company that the policy will soon change to only call customers when the payment is actually late. So do they call all of their customers to give them a "friendly" reminder before the payment is due? Thank you for bothering me Bank of America and "reminding" me I have a payment due in the next few days.

the first number they call from is 1-800-262-4218. again claiming their B of A Debt collection.

I hung up since I checked the number while on-line. I called B of A and they say it's not registered with Bank of america.

when they called back at 8:15 p.m. way later than Bank of america ever calls. the latest is 7 p.m.

I let it go to voice mail. they list 2 numbers to call 1-888-325-5357.  this number is B of A. but it's for military and ex-military members only.  the 2nd number to call if you think this phone call is in error is 1-877-430-3412. I can't find this number anywhere.  this is probably out-of-country like the other people have reported.  I am calling Bank of america tomorrow. I am the government on this too and I've signed up for the do not call registry. track these suckers down and exterminate them.

Why call me? Whomever is calling from 888-325-8531 your waiting your time calling me I'm as poor as it gets but since your persistence is so annoying and your feeling as if you can get lucky getting money out of me maybe you can just give me the money and in a few months when you have to start calling me for payment then your realistically not wasting your time!

ALWAYS record their calls. Log their calls. Tell them you are recording immediately when you answer the phone. If they object tell them they can end the conversation, otherwise they WILL be recorded. If they are calling the wrong number tell them you will file complaints with their attorney general, your attorney general and the FTC. Demand their physical address to send a certified cease and desist letter. Google it to make sure it is a correct address. Send the letter. If they call again sue them for a FDCPA violation. If they claim you have a debt DEMAND a letter of validation be sent through the MAIL. If the debt is past the statute of limitations do not pay it.  Research the FDCPA ans sue for each and every violation. You can make a few bucks on their violations of the law. Be civil, but do not let them talk over you. Yell over them if necessary. Remember RECORD their calls :).

This is in fact bank of america. they are calling you because there is something wrong with your mortgage account. if you do not have a mortgage account with them then just cooperate with them and ask them to remove your number. But remember that bank of america may just be servicing the loan on behalf of the investor or insurer of the loan. So you may have gotten your loan with wells fargo but bank of america is collecting the payments for them.

The nicer you are to these people the more they will do for you. Keep in mind that you signed a contract that states your payments are due on the 1st of the month. even one day after that you are considered late. Grace period is there for you to avoid late charges, but not collection attempts. Credit reporting is done after you are 30 days late. If the account belongs to you and you dont want any calls, tell them you want a cease and desist, this legally makes it so that all correspondence will be sent through the mail, they will require that you send in an official letter requesting the cease and desist but its worth it right? However, unless you verify your address and payment amount first, they cannot legally do anything for you. What is an identity theft going to do with that info anyway? Your information is much more vulnurable on the web and in your cell phone internet apps than it is over the phone.

I've been getting non-stop calls from 888-325-5357 for weeks, ever since I missed my first mortgage payment. I do have a mortgage with B of A and am currently pursuing short sale. I'm hoping once the bank approves the short sale these calls will stop. Usually I let them go to voicemail (caller id) but this morning I answered one thinking it might be the short sale dept. Instead a woman asked me for information about my social sec # and/or property address. When I asked what this is regarding, she told me she couldn't say anything until she had my information. I told her if this was regarding the short sale she should contact my realtor and that I was declining the call. My experiences with B of A have always been a NIGHTMARE, particularly when having to get in touch with a human being instead of some automated system.

Haha they do! Unfortunate, higher ups are stuck with the old ways because they believe they work best. You can try writing to them asking to change it, however from what i heard, it's actually due to Legislation, FDCPA ruling that unless they can verify who they are speaking with, No personal information can be discuss, Including the words, debt collecting or about your mortgage.

Sounds like you've gotten bad customer service. It happens, but remember they're people too. People get irrated or tired and say things. So just remember if it is an accident, act like it it's no big deal. Just hang on with them and ask to have the number removed. Most issue can be resolve simply with an act of kindness. Think about it, if you were treated rude, would you bother helping the rude customer? Maybe but I bet you probably wont care if it gets handled or not. So remember, kindness works wonders.

Don't think of them calling you non-stop. It's really an automatic Dialer. An automated machine. Most of them have a job to do, and it requires to contact the borrower. If you keep hanging up, the system will keep calling. So just go through the call flow with them. If you don't wish to verify, just ask for a number to call them back. Easy as that.

You could ask if they know your street name. That helps identifying your information. Personally, i don't know any company that can use only the last 4 digits of your social though to obtain anything. Do you?

It's actually an FDCPA ruling, they have to ask for verification for personal information. Now they should not ask for the full social, just the last 4 digits. I believe they changed it to now full property address and monthly payment amount. If you don't feel like verifying it, it's ok! Just take down they're contact number and call BOA on your own time. If you hang up, it just keeps happening, also if you don't complete a conversation with them it could happen.
