They just called my inlaws house looking for my husband.  Told his 85 year old mom that they have papers to serve and my husband needs to call within 2 hours.  Wow, you have a phone number my husband used 23 years ago, and you're coming to serve papers.

This must be a debt that was settled in our bankruptcy from years ago.

Right.  Hope they Google their own number to see our laughter.

I got a call from this number stating they needs to serve me papers and when I was going to be home.  They had an address that was not in the state I lived in and my previous address. 20 mintues later they called my grandmother asking information about me. They told me it was for a debt from 12 years ago and the funny thing is, if I owed money for something from that long ago, why isn't it on my credit report.  These people are a scam and if I can recall they tried calling me about 4 months ago saying the same thing.  Don't believe anything they have to say or give them any money.

I called the number.  The man that spoke to me called me a joke National Enquirer reporter.  No the lady that called this morning did not call the cell that you had attached to your account.  She called the regular phone number that is connected by wire to the phone jack on the wall.  He told me that he was going to hang up and he didn't have time to talk to me.  I said bye and let him go.

I am receiving calls from 888-327-0458.  I have no idea what company this is as they will not tell me the name of the company.  I do not know why they are calling me as they will not tell me what the matter concerns.

They first called in April while I was in the hospital (which I told them when they called).  I told them I was too sick to talk after my husband answered the phone and handed it to me.  They said they needed to serve me with legal papers.  I was too sick to even ask, "Why?"  I gave them my address and told them the date I thought it was most likely I would be home again -- and told them to serve the papers at their convenience:  I had to go.  I never heard another word from them until a few days ago (July) when the same lady called, would not tell me the name of the company, would not tell me what the matter regarded, and just kept telling me they needed to serve "legal papers" on me.  I asked what kind of "legal papers".  She said it was a summons to appear.  I did not give her any information during this call.  I told her as she had my phone number, she could get all the information she needed to serve me with any papers necessary without my help.  I hung up.

This morning, July 5, somebody called my brother and spoke to him regarding the matter.  His is a cell number attached to our cell account.  He didn't know what to do; and he loves me.  So, he listened to this person who gave him a case number and a phone number for me to call.  I called the number once I got his email.  I spoke with a man who asked me if I had a case number.  I said, "Yes, I do -- but who are you and what is this about?"  He refused to answer unless I gave him the case number.  I told him he didn't need a case number to tell me what company he represented and what matters they handled in general.  He hung up on me.

This is not a legitimate company.  Trust me, if a company wants to serve papers on you or sue you in a civil matter (which is what debt collection is), they do not need your permission or help to do so.

I don't even know what they could be contacting me about.  I haven't owed anybody any money for years and years now.  Best of all for me, they can sue away!  I don't have anything anybody can take away from me; and, unfortunately for me, I am disabled and cannot work -- so there is no way for me to pay a debt, which is why I have ensured for so long that I did not have debts to pay.

If they call you, hang up on them without speaking.  That is my advice.  And report them as there are laws that govern the way a company can attempt to collect a debt.  I do not believe they are allowed to contact people who are not you and discuss the matter with them.  I am going to research those laws now.  When I find out exactly what the law is and what agency to report this company to, I will post that information as well.

They called my grandfather and freaked him out, then called my mom and freaked her out.  Wish they would just call me!!!  I'll put them in their place.  They told my family that they had a summons for me.  Well, last I checked, they probably have information on me if they really had a summons.  From what I've read in other forums, it's nothing but a scam artist, or a collection company trying to collect on old or time-barred debts for pennies on the dollar.  There was a similar scam and the FTC uncovered not that long ago and shut them down.  Unfortunately, most of the calls are originating from India and are nearly impossible to trace/lookup.

They called my house claiming to be looking for me on a Civil Matter. Then said that they had tried to contact me mulitple times and would be issuing a Warrent for my arrest. They are nothing more than a simple collection agency trying to scare people, or they are nothing more than scam artist.
