Debt Collector
My mother got a call from this number But is was someone by the name of Dan Breen EXT 6129 He told my mother he was from the Government and that they were going to hold her checks back if I didnt start paying my student loan back. My mother co-signed for me, that is why they contact her, however im paying for the bills. Every time They would call my mother they would ask to speak with me, and when I would call back even with all account information they wouldnt let me know anything about the account and also would not allow me to make a payment informing me my mother would have to do all of that. Then my mother would call back and they would tell her again they needed me not her, even though I called previous.
They were very forceful and threatening to my mother and disrespectful.
Making us start payments two days after contacting her and freaking her out about taking her checks from work
They have also contacted her at her work of employment and speak to her boss about the issue which Im sure is probably illegal.
My suggestion for anyone going through this issue is to dig for as much info as possible with them they legally can not make you pay a single cent until they provide you with information about your debt or student loan.
Currently a lady at my work went through the same issue but with a different place and person, she got herself a lawyer and the lawyer had her write a letter to the place requesting for information about her student loan, Including where her money was going to, what exactly it was for (you can look example letters online) and you send it to them, They can not collect any money from you once they have that letter and they also have 30 days to give you that information if they fail to in the later it says this, if they fail to give you the information youre requesting about they can not collect any money from you EVER.
I suggest you all look into that and/or get a lawyer. Because a great portion of what they say/do is actually illegal.
They try to scare you a lot so stick to your ground.

10May2012 I received a call asking to speak to <my sister in law's name>.  I advised caller that <SIL> no longer lives with us.  Caller asked me to have her call this number + extension 7713 & ask for Will Hill.  It sounded familiar so I pressed him for the reason.  He was evasive, saying that to protect SIL's privacy he couldn't tell me unless I could tell him her SSAN's last four digits.  Like that's really-gonna happen.

Clearly caller had some experience avoiding giving meaningful answers to direct questions, yet trying to sound moderately official.  So I told him I would Google the number and if it came back as scam associated I would be tossing the number.  That seemed to throw him so I cut the conversation off.
