Student loans are not like some other debts where you can just blow them off.  Eventually you will have to pay, but not necessarily though VanRu.

They called me saying they are collecting for dept of Edu and saying that if I pay $20 a month for 6 months I can get loans to go back to school. they say they can mail me paper work to prove they are who they say they are....

Last night, my husband actually called these people back and spoke with someone.  The guy said they were looking for a "Gwen."  We don't know anyone named Gwen; my husband asked the guy to take our number off their records.  Ten minutes later, the phone rings again - and it's these people again!  My husband answered but no one was on the other end.  Incredible that they can get away with this!

I've been getting calls from this number once a day for the last 2 weeks. Everytime I answer they ask for some person I've never heard of. I've repeatedly asked to be taken off of their calling list, yet I keep receiving calls! How annoying!

I have missed calls on my corporate business phone caller ID from this number 888-337-8831.  They called several times on weekends in January 2008.  No message left.

These people call about a defaulted student loan from florida from 1981:  the loan was thru the state of fla, but then without my consent or anyone else was sold to wachovia in the early 80s.  A few thousand was paid on it but they claim they have no records, no record of the paid amount (there were cancelled checks to show pymt), and how these guys entered I do not know since I got letters from Fed Student loan people saying they were garnishing tax refunds.  They are unprofessional and break the law, calling repeatedly even after warnings.  I have no reason to deal with them at all.

Call often, but hang up when they detect an answering machine or fax on the line. NO idea who they are, as I owe no debts.

They call once or twice a day on my cell phone.They never say ANYTHING- just hang up every time.

These people keep calling me as well, never leaving a message.  Considering the problems other people have had, I doubt it would do me much good to actually ANSWER and tell them to remove my number from their list.

They keep calling my Skype online number. I've never given this number out to businesses, so I can only assume it's a wrong number.

VanRu is the company and they are calling for someone I do not know at all. I called them and they have removed me number from there list. I do not have any student loans is what I told them. The man was very nice and he "said" he removed my number. Just have to wait and see if they call me again.

Keep calling for someone who does not live here. When I call bacck there is no answer.

this is the VanRu collection agency. they called my work and told a co-worker my business. then when i called them back they questioned my integraty and tried to belittle me. they were nasty and hung up on me twice. it is my understanding that there is a class action lawsuit being filed against them.

And they told me this was for some student loan from ages ago and I told them this was from years ago you have no right to call me NOW! They told me that there are no time limits on student loans....
They've been taken my taxes for years now... I payed and payed but they are still calling me...
I just gave up and let it go... Eventually they had the nerve to Garnish my wages... I HAVE KIDS TO FEED! HOW DARE THEY! I was in a hole....

I talk to a lawyer, I talked to debt relief groups... No one knew how to stop my garnishment...

I googled "Student Loan Garnishment" and I found a book called Student Loan blue print

i made  payments with them and there employee used my credit card to pay his bills. they r scam dont give them ur  bank info they will buy pizza w ur info and they are ghetto

I'm the Human Reosurce Administrator at my company and 'Tommy' from Van Ru called requesting to speak with someone about an Employee Verification.  Per our policies, I informed him to fax or mail in a Request for Verification with a release with the employees signature if he is not with a Federal or State Agency, which he stated that he wasn't.  Then he asked how long it would take to receive a reply, I told him approximately 1 week.  

He said ok, then asked to be transferred to our payroll department.  I asked him what he needed and he stated that only payroll personnel would be able to answer his question.  I told him that I am in HR and that I am the records custodian for this company so whatever question he had, I would be able to provide the informaiton.  That's when he changed his story and told me that he wasn't calling to verify employee information but that he was trying to find out if an employee was still employed with us.  I took the name & SSN of the employee and told him that I would call him back.  

The call seemed suspicious and I do not plan on calling him back.

Number is for a collection agency, if its the wrong number, pick up and answer your phone, the callers are not psychic. If its correct, maybe you should pay your debt.

Got Call on landline - No Caller ID other than telephone number.  No message on answering maching.  Annoying!

A woman from Van-Ru called and gave me an employee's name and social security number that works at my business. Said she just talked to him but needed to verify it with us.  I told her we don't verify that type of information without a signed written release form from the employee.  She took down my address and gave me her contact number.  Then she asked me to call the employee and give him that info.  I said I could not because he was out in the field, and instead said she could call the location he worked at.  She said no, and pushed to have me contact him directly--suspicious, and only to give him her phone number.  I insisted that I could not contact him myself, and the woman ended up hanging up.  It was interesting that she had so much personal information on this employee and then became so pushy about contacting him, even though she supposedly had just spoken to him before calling me!

I used to get calls from them with live people.  Three times I picked up and told them I have never heard of the person they are looking for and to stop calling me.  Now I have been getting automated calls from them.  One time I listened to all the recorded junk and pushed the button indicating they have the wrong number.  Twice I have called the number back and told a live person they have the wrong number and if they do a simple Google search they will see that the number belongs to me and not the person they are looking for.  They always say they will remove my number but they keep calling.  I have reported them to donotcall.gov and finally today I called up Verizon and had their number blocked.

They called us one night 5 times in a row and they never left a message.  People say that it is a collection agency for student loans, but I don't know why they would be calling us when all our loans are always paid on time...this is so ridiculous and I wish they would stop calling.

They racked my cell phone alone today 10 times I don't answer. The first time I got it 3 weeks ago it was about a student loan from 2000. That was being handled by another company and I get statements from them. bc of my lack of extra income at this time I pay nothing now and I get no interest either. I tell the gentlemen all this he tells me no they are lying to you they turned it over to us because you didn't respond to them. I told him that can't be right. I just talked to them yesterday and everything was still going smoothly. Well you have 48hrs to figure this out or we will get your bank account information and seize those funds and when you do have a job then garnish those wages. So this company just sent me paperwork I have to fill out and send to them. YEAH RIGHT.... Scammer. I am blocking them from my cell right now. although I like a good pissing match on the phone.
