Got an email from Matthew Smith and almost got sucked in but decided to google and found this blog.  He referred a Dylan Raines to me. They say they can put us in a permanent modification and reduce our principal. They want us to call them.  Now I am regretting spelling out my hardship in an email as from the blog it sounds like this is all a hoax.

I got an email this morning from Matthew Smith. I called the number and spoke to somene named Dana.  She told me I defnitely qualified for remodification and said if I could come up with $1295 they would they could work with me.  After telling her I couldn't afford even that right now.  She suggested that I forego my next mortgage payment and pay them so they could get me remodified and put my past due payments in the rears.

I'm still confused.  Do I rob peter to pay paul when there's still no guarantee they can help me.  Then I'll be three payments behind and heading to foreclosure like I was two months ago.  Here is what they sent me:

I checked out the website for YourMortgageRights & ModPilot, it was what I thought. It will cost close to $2000.00 to get the information on how to go about talking to your lender on reducing your mortgage.
If it's too good to be true, then it is.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke has joined lawmakers and Treasury officials in noting the difficulty created by declining home prices. In some instances, the slump means that homeowners owe more than the house is worth. In those cases, "the best solution may be a write-down of principal or other permanent modification of the loan by the servicer," Bernanke said Monday. "Realistic public- and private-sector policies must take into account the fact that traditional foreclosure avoidance strategies may not always work well in the current environment" ." XXXXXX"

I looked up the website from Mathew Smith,s email address at Matt@1stNationWideMortgages.com and here is the results;

This web page is parked FREE, courtesy of GoDaddy.com
On Sale at GoDaddy.com

..... I think this is a company that is in the Grey area of the mortgage industry and at best will act as a broker to find a mortgage from another source and is only looking for some payment for finding you a mortgage. I suggest avoiding this contact!
