ATTENTION - I just got off the phone with the gamer people and they put the 49.99 into my paypal account. I was a little hesitant at first but they did it without any hesitation. Something i wouldn't do if i was truly offering someone a service that was worth something and that i was sure they signed up for.

Yep they got my wife too. My fault for not catching it for 4 months. This is robbery. I told us cellular to block all premium messaging services and any other service where i may incur a charge. Lets see what happens next month.

This charge from this number showed up on my bill as well, on my wife's line. She doesn't recall ever getting a text message, but she definitely would not have subscribed to anything as we don't use text or data on our phone.

U.S. Cellular was very nice about this, and they had a tool on his computer specifically for this sort of situation. He said that there were two ways which another company was allowed to offer a service such as this through USC, one required replying to a text message (which we never do), and the other required signing up on line and being given a pin number via text message which would then have to be entered into the online site.

As neither of these applied, he had a tool which he could use to tell that company to stop the subscription and revert those charges, since the service was not ordered by the customer. He did this while I was on the phone, and when he was done he said that there was a 48-hour turnaround time, but the charge would be removed from the bill.

Anyway, this was the first voice I talked to at USC, I did not have to ask for a supervisor, I did not have to call the other company and then call them back. So, in short, there are decent cell phone companies out there.

Gamerdata has been billing my wife's phone for 5 months.  I assumed she had been downloading games for the kids to play, but she isn't even able to do that on her phone.  T-Mobile was able to refund the most recent month, now that we noticed, but having to contact the scam artists to get the rest back...

You're really full of misinformation Robb Yobb. There is a difference between willingly paying for a product such as a shirt from a mall store like Abercrombie and Fitch and being fraudulently charged for an UNSOLICITED service. Perhaps you would like me to send you naked pictures of celebrities. Wait, you don't even have to say yes, just delete each message as they come and you'll be billed a monthly fee of $9.99, which goes into my pocket minus a small cut I give to T-Mobile my partners-in-crime. Funny how you say "It's not their fault, they're just a poor cellphone company" yet somehow they manage to block all calls to my phone if I don't pay my bill. Interesting how that works even though you say my provider has nothing to do with it. I would say my provider has everything to do with it since they can monitor all use of my phone, the content of my text messages (they can be obtained via a judge's order), etc. So wouldn't T-Mobile know that I didn't solicit the service via my phone? Obviously they would and do. That leaves the website which I've never heard of. The easy answer is T-Mobile gave them my number since the only other way they could reach me is by randomly typing my number (not likely).

I just checked in detail this month's bill from T-Mobile and under "Premium Services" I saw a charge from "38146GamerData_8883516703" to my wife's cellphone for $9.99. Logically I was outraged and checked past bills. I had been wondering why they were so high compared with my older bills. This GamerData thing was being billed each month since August 2009 (makes 4 months now). I will be on the phone with T-Mobile tomorrow morning to get it removed from my current bill and all future bills. I have texted "STOP" to 38146 and received a message saying I was removed from the service and wouldn't be charged in the future. I believe T-Mobile is giving their subscriber's cellphone numbers to these con artists/nutjobs in return for a cut of the premium charged. I would like to get the $30 stolen from me over the past 3 months (Aug-Oct 2009) however I am just a little paranoid that if I call their 1-888 number I'll get put on some new premium service list from them and get recharged.

My husband too keeps getting this 9.99 charge on our t-mobile account. T-mobile was able to block it and it stopped for two months and it now is appearing again. I have now been on the phone 31 min. on hold with the gamerdata place. They tell you to go to a website to cancel the service (which we never signed up for) and when I type in the phone # to cancel it says it does not have a subscription and that phone # has never been charged! I am still on hold and getting sick of it! They have raped over $50.00 so far! They just picked up and I told them how outrageous they are and they hung up on me. They said we went to there website and signed up for this service! This is Bull!!!

just noticed this 9.99 charge on my tmobile account this month... I got a random spam text message on Sept. 25th stating that it was charging me 9.99 month. I IMMEDIATELY replied STOP to stop the charges, yet it charged me 9.99 month anyhow.  I will have to wait until next month's (november) bill to see if it charges me again on Oct 25th. This has to be illegal. I didn't sign up for anything, yet I get spam and charged. The number this came from was 38146 and the text in the message read as follows "MUSIC NOW: taylor swift, Lady Gaga and Robert Pattinson make the best dressed list while Paula Abdul, Heidi Montag and Jessica Simpson are the Worst Dressed."
Immediate next message "Info-Text-AlertText Alert ProgramAll Alerts 9,99/m Unlimited Alerts#1info,help,stop Info-text-alert.comNotifications 2 ur cellTop Alerts"

I immediately texted STOP back and it confirmed I had been unsubscribed. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Look I work for the phone company. Yeah we get a cut. We also get a cut whenever you make a phone call anywhere, anytime, anyhow. Its business, its commerce. Its payments for goods and services. We have no agreement with these guys. Its just like if you dial a 900 number on your landline. Your phone is getting charged.  Does that mean that the phone company and the porn number are partners in crime? WHOOOOOOO Conspiracy! Come on man,its the way of the world. Its not on the phone company to pay you back for this. Same thing,if a store adds extra charges to your credit card. Is that somehow the banks fault? Nope.  Is the credit card company in cahoots with the store? Nope.  For every honest business there is a scammer.  For every law there is a way around it. Focus your anger on the company that is initiating the charges, not your provider. They have nothing to do with it.  Just like if you text answers into tv game shows,or vote on reality shows. You get charged for your choice, and your provider passes the charge on to you.  Thats like getting mad at the mall because they markup your clothes. Really? Give credit where credit is due.

They get away with this because the phone provider GETS A CUT OF THE $9.99!  It's been a scam for years!  Not this particular one, but others just like it!  I have had both DATA and SMS turned OFF our cellphones for YEARS, and all of a sudden I get a data charge from "gamer-data.com" ?  A simple google search shows nothing but scams and complaints.  I am currently fighting my provider (AT&T, formerly Cingular) to get the charges removed.  I'm upset I didn't see it last month (first month they did it), but I caught it this month.

Just a final word, you are not fighting "Cyclon LLC" so much as you are fighting your phone provider who profits from this crap.  Maybe in a few years a couple of lawyers can get rich at all of our expenses by doing a class-action, whereas we'll get a coupon for a discount at gamer-data.com... :(

It is STEALING, pure and simple.  It is done by the phone companies in cahoots with the dirt-bag third-party.

I received a $9.99 charge on one of my cell phones for a "download". My sister (& live-in babysitter), teenage daughter and I don't use text messaging and don't download anything onto our phones. In fact, I have text messaging blocked. I called T-Mobile and they said I have to text a company to opt out or they'll continue to charge me monthly. I told her I don't have text messaging so she gave me a phone number to call - 1-888-351-6703. I called and was told my "subscription" would be cancelled. I told him that's not good enough - I want my $9.99 back because I never ordered any product from them. After a bit of a hesitation he said they would mail me a check but it would take 4 to 6 weeks to reach me. I told him I want the credit to my cell phone account since they weren't authorized to charge my account in the first place. He said they can't do that. They can only send me a check in the mail. I stated in the meantime I'm contacting my US Senator, the BBB and Attorney General's office to file a complaint until I receive my money back. I want to make sure they're going to refund me.
I called T-Mobile back and said I wanted to talk to a supervisor. The Customer Service Representative said she will get one for me but would I tell her my complaint so that she can let the supervisor know how to assist me better. I told her about the unauthorized "download" charge and that the T-Mobile Billing dept said they can't do anything for me. I told her I found out my sister got a series of text messages and she just deleted them thinking they were from T-Mobile since they're they only ones who text us. She responded with "and you have text messaging blocked". She looked up the charge on my account and said they've been getting complaints about this company charging their customers. They don't go through the regular texting methods and that's how they get around the blocked text lines. She said she is going to credit my account the $9.99 and submit a refund demand from this company. She also made an adjustment to my account so these theives cannot charge me again.

They called my sister-in-law and she just hung up the phone on them.  Apparently, that meant she wanted some pricey text messaging system they offer.  She now owes Centennial $200 unless she can get a hold of the company and get them to rescind whatever she "bought."  All this because she simply hung up the phone.  Centennial said that she should have responded "stop," and then "stop" again (whatever the hell that means).  WATCH OUT PEOPLE!!!!!!  They're located in Scottsdale, Arizona.  I'm going to try and get a hold of them for her.  Mysteriously, she can't get an answer.  Surprise.  Just wanted to warn people that it's a PRICEY mistake.  Luckily, my brother-in-law is a lawyer and my congressman has a local office.  I'm going after these theives.
