I have received the same automated call daily on my cell. the number is 919-648-1191. I agree that we should contact the attoney generals office for nationwide harrassment.

Yep....that's the EXACT same message i received!!!!!

I got a machine that wanted to talk to a Debra Papenfa. I called them back after i heard the message that said that they had some personal info about me and i needed to contact them today or my attorney, if i have one to clear up this matter and they gave me a so called file no.

These people call me every day at my work number and my cell phone.  Have no idea what they want; usually don't leave msg. but have left messages that refer to some specific file number and say they will be coming by to get a signature (same as stated in other posts).  Maybe a call to the Attorney General's office is in order; seems to be harrassment.

More dummy numbers so it looks like homebody local is calling, increasing the chance you'll pick up. You block on, they just call back from another.

I'm handing this over to our attorney now because they are harassing our business line for somebody who doesn't even work here.

The recorded message they left is as follows: "This message is solely intended for [name of person]. If you are not [name of person], please hang up now and disregard this message. This call from the offices of Elmwood Associates. A serious matter associated with your personal information has been placed with our office. We need to receive a statement from you or your attorney, if you have one, today in order to resolve this issue quickly and release you from this matter. Your file number is XXXXXXXXX. You can reach us directly at 888-352-9849. Thank you."

I received the same automated message with the same 888 number, but the number showing on the caller ID was 816-295-6775, out of Blue Springs Missouri. I guess they're faking the caller ID numbers so people will answer. They're not the first to do it....

I didn't check the website, but it's not surprising it looks amateur - the automated message sounds like Joshua in War Games from the 80's .... would you like to play a game ? :)

Automated message asking for somebody at my business, somebody we don't know. Company is Elmwood Associates and the message they left stated that they had "Personal information" that needed a "response" that same day by that person or their attorney.  The number they left to call was (888) 352-9849. Other number used: 213-816-2964

Upon further research, it appears to be a new crop up of yet another junk debt collector (out of Buffalo, NY of course) using illegal and harassing tactics. Per their website, which looks pretty amateur, "Elmwood Associates is debt recovery company specializing in the recovery of bad checks and authorized ACH drafts."  They claim to be a "leader" in the industry, but their web domain was only registered in April 2012.
