I got a call from this number. It appears a message was left by a human voice. The message started off by the person saying "good afternoon, good morning" (1). Then the message said "this message is intended only for (my name). if this is not (my name), please disconnect(2)". The message continued to say "(my name) this is (caller's name) and i am calling on behalf of creditors interchange in reference to your business matter that is here with our office(3). Please be advised that this is the attempt to collect on a debt, and any and all information obtained is used for that purpose only". The caller then attempted to give me a call back number (different from this one(4)). The caller then left a reference number to refer to when calling back.
1. Was the caller unsure of what time of day it was?
2. As I was not available to take the call when it was made. why did the call not automatically disconnect (a message was left for anyone to hear (not just me))?
3. What business matter? Who is creditors interchange (I never had any dealings with a firm named creditors interchange)?
4. The caller had to repeat the call back number three times (was the caller unsure of the call back number (different from the calling number))?
Admittedly, the message did say that this was an attempt to collect a debt. I get phone calls saying I owe this agency money, I get letters saying that I owe another agency money, and I get bills from the original creditors saying that I owe them money (all phone calls and letters refer to bills that I am still getting from the original creditors).
I am not unaware of the fact that creditors (and other companies) often sell their debts ("accounts receivables") to other companies/agencies, very often for "pennies on the dollar". I would think that if company A (original creditor) sold a debt to company B (another company/agency), that company A would notify the original debtor of such a sale. In my case, I HAVE NEVER BEEN NOTIFIED OF A SALE OF ANY SUCH ALLEGED DEBT.
I am also not unaware of the (often highly illegal) tactics used by collection agencies. Much like others, I have been ripped off by illegitimate claims of so-called debt collectors, and simply refuse to delve out personal information to anyone who says they have a business matter with me, and is not specific, or even unsure, of exactly what that business matter is.

Said they were A credit company trying to collect a debt for BoA. Be careful they keep asking for personal info-example your bank, account # and ssn. Did not give info.they got very upset. Sorry been ripped off this was before.
