I got a call like this as well. I was so excited that things were really going to turn around for me. I paid the $89 and asked the people several times if it was a real credit card, everyone I spoke with told me it was. I was happy. I got the card today and see that it is not a real credit card, has no logo or anything. So I will be calling them on Monday to cancel. I have been on the website and have completely screwed.

Am sorry you were scammed. I assume "got my information from a pay day loan" means when you applied for your loan, you'd also agreed to buy the PT card in the fine print without your knowledge. I suggest filing a complaint with your state AG's Office. It may not get you your money back but your state AG may be able to prevent future victims from being scammed in this manner. You must cancel the PT card and replace your bank account.

There are basically 2 ways.
1. Find and follow the cancellation instructions on the PT website. You'll have to pay off whatever balance and interest charges that are present on your PT card.
2. Try to get your bank to claw money back from PT because you've been scammed. Don't use the word "dispute," use the word "fraud." Disputes are for billing errors and this is not a billing error but is fraud. Getting your bank to read this 800notes page may help.

If you've been using the card for a while and simply don't want it any more, I suggest method 1 because it's much harder to prove fraud when you've been using the PT card for a while. You should use method 2 only if fraud actually occurred like if PT lied to you about it being a credit card that can be used anywhere. If your bank manages to stop PT from taking money from your account and you have a balance on the PT card, be aware that PT may send your account to collections. Best of luck.

I don't know who you are but on August 10, 2011, I got a call from Platinum Trust number 1(302)482-8651. I was advised that I could use this card anywhere in the USA and Canada along with going to ATM's to make withdrawals. Unfortuanately, I was checking my my bank account online and could not figure out why a payment of $89 was made to PT, so I begin researching them continuously.

A few hours ago, I went to PT's website and got very upset because everything that the caller told me concerning the card is a complete LIE. I am going to be calling this company first thing Tuesday morning and requesting a refund because the caller stated that I would receive the card in 7-14 days. They have illegally taken money out of my account without first consenting with me, I have not received any contracts, nor have I signed anything authorizing this company to do such a thing. With this in mind, I will be filing a civil suit here in TN next week and anyone who has been scammed or lied to by representatives of this company can participate and we can turn this into a class action law suit.

I'm only familiar with the laws of TN, so I can get things started on my end and get with attorneys in your state to see how we can make this official. This way every person who has ever been scammed or lied to will have a chance to get their money back.  However, for those individuals who signed a contract with this company and begin using the FAKE CREDIT CARD without a Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express logo then you entered into a written agreement and pretty much in any state in the US will hold you accountable and liable for the debt. With that in mind, good luck to you all who didn't catch the SCAM before the SCAM caught you.

JUST REMEMBER THAT YOUR HIGHER POWER (SPIRITUALLY) KNOWS AND HE WILL TAKE CARE OF "PT" AND I am glad that I caught this ungodly act before, I received any paperwork in the mail.

BEWARE: It appears that when posters called PT to cancel their PT card accounts, some were apparently told (see page 8 of this thread) to come to *this* 800notes web page to email their cancellation to PT. This is a lie and will not work. 800notes is a public forum for reporting hostile phone calls and has nothing to do with Platinum Trust. Do not believe anything that the PT reps say until you verify it.

I plan on contacting a lawyer and try to put a stop to these people.

If they lied to you in any way like if they told you the Platinum Trust card is a credit card, you can tell that to your credit card issuer or bank and try to get them to reverse the $89 charge and put the money back into your account. If you were not lied to or tricked into providing your account info, then you cannot get any money back. In either situation, you still have to cancel the Platinum Trust card to stop them from continuing to take $19/month from you.

If you found your way to this web page, you've likely been scammed by the Platinum Trust card.

The Platinum Trust card cannot be used to buy goods from any regular store from Walmart to Saks Fifth Avenue, or to buy dinner at a restaurant, or to buy an airline ticket, or to rent a car, or to pay a utility or medical bill, or to get a cash advance. If you were told that the Platinum Trust card is a credit card, then you were lied to and scammed. Their FAQ https://platinumtrustcard.com/pop_faqs.php says:
"Q: Is the Platinum Trust Card a MasterCard or Visa?
A: The Platinum Trust Card is a privately branded credit card which can be used to purchase merchandise at selected online locations. It operates much like a "store" credit card, similar to a department store charge card. It is NOT a MasterCard, Visa or American Express card.
Q: Can I use the card to get a cash advance?
A: No, the Platinum Trust Card is to be used to purchase merchandise from select online stores."

From platinumtrustcard.com Terms & Conditions https://platinumtrustcard.com/pop_terms.php :
"PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT MEMBERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO MAKE A REASONABLE INITIAL PAYMENT (UP TO 51% OF THE TOTAL PURCHASE COST) TOWARDS ANY AND ALL MERCHANDISE PURCHASES FROM PLATINUMTRUSTCARD AUTHORIZED WEBSITES."
If you want to buy a $500 computer, you will be required to pay up to $255 of your own money in hard cash up front and only charge $245 on the PT card. In fact, to use up the full $9,500 "credit" on the PT card, you'll have to buy 9500/0.49=$19,387 of merchandise and have to spend 51/49*9500=$9,887 of your own money in hard cash up front. Ask yourself what "credit card" will ask you to do that? What is the point of credit when you have to pay up to 51% of the cost up front? For every $1 you charge on the PT card, you will have to come up with up to 51/49=$1.04 of your own money in hard cash up front. Seems pretty stupid, doesn't it?

platinumtrustcard.com says you will receive a fulfillment package that "includes your credit card with a $9,500 unsecured line of credit ... and all of the information to online stores that you can use your credit card to purchase products." platinumtrustcard.com does not list those "online stores" so this means PT will tell you which hidden websites accept the PT card only *after* you sign up for the card. This means you cannot check those hidden websites out up front to see if they're a good deal. Since the PT card can *only* be used on those hidden websites, there is nothing to stop those hidden websites from charging *HUGE* prices on the same goods that you can buy elsewhere (like Walmart) at much lower prices. By the time you find out the real cost of goods on those hidden websites by signing up, PT would have gotten $89+$19 from you in hard cash and will keep charging $19/month maintenance fee even if you carry a $zero balance. What if PT makes it difficult for you to cancel? Any company would advertise their websites to show what low prices they have, why is PT hiding their online stores? Do these websites even exist?

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THE PLATINUM TRUST CARD. IT IS NOT A CREDIT CARD. IT IS A VERY EXPENSIVE STORE CARD THAT YOU CAN ONLY USE AT HIDDEN WEBSITES FOR LIKELY EXPENSIVELY PRICED GOODS THAT YOU CAN BUY ELSEWHERE (LIKE WALMART) FOR MUCH LESS. IT WILL KEEP CHARGING $19/MONTH MAINTENANCE FEE EVEN IF YOU CARRY A $ZERO BALANCE. THE PT CARD OPERATES IN BROAD DAYLIGHT WITHOUT FEAR OF THE LAW BECAUSE THE SCAM IS IN THE MARKETING OF THE CARD (POSTERS REPORT THEY WERE TOLD THE PT CARD IS A CREDIT CARD) AND NOT IN THE CARD ITSELF. THE CARD CONTRACT YOU SIGNED IS IRONCLAD AND LEGALLY BINDS YOU TO HONOR TERMS THAT ARE EXTREMELY UNFAVORABLE TO CARD HOLDERS. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THE PLATINUM TRUST CARD.

If you keep getting telemarketing calls for the PT card, their privacy policy https://platinumtrustcard.com/pop_privacy.php says:
"Section 4. Your Opt-Out Rights
We provide you with ways to remove your information from our database.  If you remove your information from our database it will no longer be used by us for secondary purposes, disclosed to third parties or used by us to send promotional correspondence to you.
