I received such a call on 2/14/2014 and urge for payment. They even send a settlement statement. The director name is Ryan Stewart. This sounds like a scam to me even though they send the settlement letter.

Please tell me you typed that mission statement in. I'd hate to think that PPM has such an obvious grammar error in their raison d'être
| Alfalfa 2014-02-18 22:05:24 Unknown |
That should have read: "Our mission is to rip off the consumer---and the end justifies the means".
Unbelievable.

They have been calling my phone for weeks now, looking for someone I know. I asked them to stop, that it was my business phone! "Joe Ramirez" harassed me when I spoke to him. Told me that I "was compromising her appearance in court by not telling him where she is or how they can contact her" I replied that I wasn't the one looking for her and that in no way did my not knowing where she was compromise anything! I was livid! I told him never to call my phone again but he did, had the nerve to leave a message When I listened to it I knew for sure it was a scam, first he worked for legal dep for PDI, then PDM, and by the time he was finished it was PPM . As far as I know, according to The Fair Debt Collections Act, all of the tactics he used were illegal. I put my number on the D.N.C. list today, I hope that helps if I have to wind up bringing suit against them.

I also called the Credit card company that supposedly they were collecting for. They verified they have never heard of or dealt with Prodigy Portfolio Management.
They even e-mailed me a settlement letter when I refused to speak to them on the phone looking very official, but yet again as fake as can be. I could see how people could very easily be fooled by all of this. i think on of the keys is the belligerent nature and threats that ensue with all of this.

This number called my old job site where my daughter now works asking for me. When they were informed that i no longer worked there the guy on the phone said his name was Victor Diaz and the she should call me and give this number to me and to call him within 2hrs or i would be held in contempt. My daughter called my wife and she called to see what it was about and this person said their name was Bryan Martin. My wife said he was a real a***ole and was trying to collect a debt for Discover card. But when she asked him for a supervisors name and number and company name he became very hostile. When she started to state how many fair credit acts they violated he became very angry and stated papers are filed and on their way for court then just hung up.

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

My husband received a call wanting my address to serve me a summons, When I called that number feeling prepared it was a scam, they stated the business was called Prodigy Portfolio Management company. They transferred me to several people Ray in Legal, and then Brian Martin who demanded my last 4 digits of my social and birthday. When I refused to give them he was belligerent and I hung up. This same scenario has happened last year at this time.
In looking up Prodigy Portfolio Management, I called the number from their online yellow pages in Orange county and received the message that number was not available at this time. As soon as I hung up another orange county number 949-783-7015 called me back stated someone had just called him, and refused to tell me his name, was belligerent. When I hung up he proceeded to call back, and continued to do so 6 more times... The man on that line sounded very much like the Brian Martin I spoke to previously...

This is a scam to scare you into a settlement so you won't be taken to court. Don't respond and file a claim against them.
| Andre 2012-10-17 19:12:55 Unknown |
It is a scam. Collection agencies are not allowed to file in small claims court in most states.

I'm getting the same calls. The guy that called me was Bryan Martin. He told me that I owed $1700.00 with Discover. I have never had a Discover Card. He was also reading other open accounts that I do have from my credit report. When I ask for him to provide information he instructed me to call Discover and then call him back and let him know what they said. I called the number to Discover that he gave me along with a card number (which they said was invalid) and they informed me that I don't have any accounts with them. I called Mr. Martin back to tell him and he got ugly with me when I wouldn't give him the last 4 digits of my social and hung up on me. The lady from Discover told me they wouldn't have anything on me and not to entertain theses people.

y mother who is 86 years young, just received a call from this number, asking to speak to me however, that is not my phone, nor I reside there. The person identified himself as Diego Sanchez and claims it was a legal matter and tried scaring my mother. Needless to say, my mother is very upset. I have only one dispute and
it is in the hands of my attorney.

A blocked number calls and tells me someone named Nathan is due in court. They tell me to call this number to discuss legal action against Nathan. It sounds like a scam to me.
