I got a message today saying that I wrote a bad check...blah blah and that I was the Plaintiff (this girl didn't get good training) then at the end she said my name and them said "You have been served" I laughed out loud.
Never wrote a bad check. Never not paid a bill. Financially I am just fine so this is NOT legitimate. I can't figure out what they get out of it though.

i pay my bills: dont be so harsh. we dont deal with scammers and low lifes who want to take money from hard working folks who dont owe the money in the first place!! everyone on this site most likely pay all their bills and still get the scammer calls. they need to be shut down and put in jail for their scams!

I got a call from this # 888 390-5129 too! on my perssonel cell # from pattie said i owe money over $600.0 for a loan, be carefull i did have a loan a while back but paid in full. These people are dispret i had a loan co. call them and they would not settle the depbt :)

I got a call from this number regarding a bad check. Funny, I haven't written a check since 1993. LOL! I called them back and had to leave a message. I let them know that I am aware of their SCAM and if they called me again, I would take legal action.

All you people claims is SCAM but is not pay Your Bill stop using excuses.. ... Everyone knw they took out payday loan now is time to pay up...    I paid my bill & YES I check my credit report..... A lady named Patty keeps calling to "verify my place of employment" - and says that my ex husband has an outstanding payday loan from 2005 which was deposited into our joint bank account, and is going to serve me with a summons at work, and continuously asks to speak with my boss-- unless I pay up.  

I filed bankruptcy two years ago (my ex not paying bills being a recurring theme in my life), and I called my old bankruptcy attorney who said that this is a scare-tactic to try to get me to pay an old loan that they have no remaining legal pathway to collect.  It is past the statute of limitations in my state, so they would not be able to obtain a judgement in my local court.

If they are threatening you with a summons, just realize that if they could serve you, they probably would just serve you!  Don't let them scare you.  If you ever actually do get served, you can pay at any time prior to going to court or even ask the courts to break your judgement into payments- in some cases for up to 36 months!

Same guy, Kevin Peter called me at home.  I haven't write a check for so long.

They called me too.  Saying that they have a summon for me regarding a bad check.

theycalled me last week saying that united cash advance deposited 500 in my bank account back in 2010 these people threated me so bad that i gave them 4oo dolars well i went to bank next day and found out nobody ever deposited money we called the banks  fraud  office i filled out my side of the story well a week later my money was put back in my account well wed night they called back threated me again saying they are gonna come to myjob monday with a processer and they are filing charges against me if i dont give them a 1000 dollares before mondaythey said they doubled it since i never payed it back well i got more scarred went back to my bank let them listen to the nasty message of them threatening me and saying good luck finding a lawyer and that they said u wish now that u never stopped payment on that money they were gonna file 2 charges against me well my bank said to ignore them dont give them money and then they back tracked all my bank history gave me a copy so i have my proof that it was a scam

Someone calling re trying to serve me regarding a bad check.  Since I don't use checks, obviously this is someone trying to scam me.

Got a call from a "supposed" law firm in Cleveland, OH.....Yes the # that showed on my cell showed as a law firm/funding company (with complaints on them).   I didn't answer my cell, and then they proceeded to call right back with the phone # zeroed out.   Didn't answer that one either.   Then about 10 mins. later they called at my place of work....same stupid recorded message....same guy.....Kevin Peters.....we received a fax order to collect on a bad check.....yada yada yada.    We want to set up a meeting to serve the summons, yada yada.   Here's the case number or if you want call the plaintiff at this #...888-390-5129.
NOT.....................I do not write bad checks............very rarely write a check........they can go pound salt.  Not even wasting my time........blocked them on my cell.       These scammers really need to get a life!!!!         I guess they figure if they use scare tactics you will pay them no questions asked.   NOT!   If you claim to have something that I owe.....give me the full information, copies, etc.  etc.      IDIOTS!!!!

I got a recorded message stayting that I wrote a bad check and they would serve me with simmins. The name that was left is: Kevin Peters THIS IS SCAMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Be aware!!. I am 100000000000000% sure I never wrote a bad check. These idiots think they can scam us. They are braking the law. Do not give them any money. These are thiefs.

They called looking for the previous owner of my cell phone number. I've gotten a number of calls from collections for him, so I wasn't surprised. It was for an automated call about a bad check written for a fax order. They mentioned a name of an agent "Kevin Peters", a phone number to call back to (8883905129), and a case number 201339.

I called (8883905129) to report to them that this was no longer the previous owners' number, but got a fax line.

The Caller ID on my iPhone listed 0000000000

It's all very suspicious...

This is a SCAM and it is an automated message not a real person. They are breaking laws.

This number has been calling my cell phone as well as my husband's work saying that he wrote a bad check for an online loan from 2004!  We have never taken out any loan, let alone online!  They keep calling harrassing him at work that they are sending officers to arrest him.  How do I get this to stop?????

Just got a call from this number....funny! I'm pretty sure they can't just say...."let's schedule a place and time so I can serve you" I haven't written a check in..... I don't remember how long!!!! Called back anyway, surprise surprise......no answer, had to leave a message.

I'm pretty sure that this call breaks a bunch of FDCPA rules.  They are not supposed to leave messages like this.  They can't threaten to sue.  They have to state that "this is an attempt to collect........etc"  

This is BOGUS so don't give them ANY information.

Did you call them back?  I did and gave them $50, but I looked up the number and it says they are a scam and try to use information from the internet to get you to pay them.  I am not going to pay any more or answer their calls.

Me too!!  About the same time yesterday.  I don't even have a bank account!!!
