I received a phone call stating that they deposited funds into my account in  2013 to an account that has been closed since 2011. Of course the so called representative of Universal became hostile in his tone and I became hostile too and told him good bye. Called my former bank and they indicated no activity on the account other than my car loan. This sit at home and work crap ain't for everyone. Get a real job before you get scammed by a real scammer.

Ok, so I got a call from Rick a few weeks ago and said I had a body attachment against me for a payday loan I didn't pay. I don't doubt the debt, I did take out a payday loan. At first I thought he was crap, so I just dismissed it. He then called again and this time he said that since I took the loan out through my computer at my parent's house he was going to have them arrested for fraud also. This time I paid attention. I got the info I needed. Then I told him I would call him back after I do some calling. I called the original debtor and it has indeed been paid. I called him back and he said he would verify. This was about 6 hours ago. Still waiting for him to call so I can totally throw it back at him. Oh, contacted the local PD.

All in all, don't trust this guy. If he tells you the original creditor and then go through the gambit until you get the answer you need. I had to call 4 different debt collectors, but then when I got the the last one they told me it was paid and even verified the reference number from all 4 previous collectors. Tell him you have to verify because I know he will never give you any information about who he is and where is is from. You will have to play the game and act the victim until you get proof of his scam. Also, when you do your homework ask for the creditor to send you an email, and hard copy through standard mail.

Tell him you have to have some time. PD told me that there is no way you can be taken to jail for a civil debt. IF... IF he calls back I will just tell him to serve me with the court papers and I would be happy to go to court. I thought I was pretty saavy when it came to scams and stuff. But... this one got to me.

I have payed over $2000 to them,for payday loans I had taken online ,wayyyy more then I had taken out loans! I did not take the loans because i'm lazy to work and don't intend to pay them back.i beat cancer 5 times ,needless to say what I been through!the loans were taken out due to a financial hardship!and they're my responsibility!these peole mike carter just to name one of them has booked off over $2000 from my account in monthly payments of $50 .I never gotten anything in writing either.but I do have all my bank statements that I did pay! i'm done ...closing my account and open a new one! thanks to everyone for your posts it helped me to find out that these guys are just a fake!

I didnt sighn my form after i disputed the payment and i really did get charged with fraud 3 months later by the internal revenue service.....They had me on a recording.......i ended up paying the full amount then penalties

It's a payday loan scam run by criminals in India. Ignore the calls, there's NOTHING they can do to you.

'Got a phone message from a Mike Carter from Jackson Greenburg and Associates threatening legal action and jail for supposed criminal action. A family member asked me what the heck was going on. We have no outstanding debts, no travel violations, robbed a bank or anything so I had no idea what the matter was. When I called back, this person accused me of taking out some kind of loan from a company I never even heard of. When I asked for verification so I could address what I knew to be an error, this man said he couldn't mail me anything in writing or give me the address of the debtor he supposedly represented. I hung up on him. There is obviously something fishy here with this Jackson Greenburg and Associates, whoever they really are. No legitimate company would leave such a phone message or act like this.

I received a call from a Thomas Lukine?  On 4at stating I had until 11 am today to call him or a Detective Anderson back or they would issue a subpoena against me on 2 criminal charges. He also mentioned my brother and sister-in-law by name stating they would testify against me. He stated he was from Jackson and Greenberg and was a warrant officer with the financial affairs division and was going to file with my local county clerk. I spoke to my local PD and an officer actually called the number back and the guy told him I owed $13,000 in payday loans. I laughed because last year I did apply for a payday loan but never received. These guys are scam artists. They did have the last 4 digits of my ss# but could not tell the officer what the whole number was. The worst part is they called my parents leaving the same message which legally they are not allowed to do and freaked them out. In this case the number used was 1800-298-7151. Don't give them any info. As the officer told me no one will come to your house and arrest you for not paying payday loans. You will be notified by certified mail if it is legit!

What practices are off limits for debt collectors?
Harassment. Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, they may not:

use threats of violence or harm;
publish a list of names of people who refuse to pay their debts (but they can give this information to the credit reporting companies);
use obscene or profane language; or
repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone.
False statements. Debt collectors may not lie when they are trying to collect a debt. For example, they may not:

falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives;
falsely claim that you have committed a crime;
falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company;
misrepresent the amount you owe;
indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren?t; or
indicate that papers they send to you aren?t legal forms if they are.
Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:

you will be arrested if you don?t pay your debt;
they?ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so; or
legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don?t intend to take the action.
Debt collectors may not:

give false credit information about you to anyone, including a credit reporting company;
send you anything that looks like an official document from a court or government agency if it isn?t; or
use a false company name.
Unfair practices. Debt collectors may not engage in unfair practices when they try to collect a debt. For example, they may not:

try to collect any interest, fee, or other charge on top of the amount you owe unless the contract that created your debt ? or your state law ? allows the charge;
deposit a post-dated check early;
take or threaten to take your property unless it can be done legally; or
contact you by postcard.

I received a call from the Firm of Jackson Greenberg & Associates about a payday loan that was in 2008 (which I did not get) from Cardinal Management (the original client) telling me that I need to make pasnt arrangements or I will be going to jail, because they will be sending it to the DA,s office in my area!! I called the Cardinal Management number and talked to 2 different people!! They had no record of my SS number or name in their system!! I knew it was a scam but was making absolutely sure of it!! Dan Kelly was the man I talked to from this Jackson Greenberg & Associates!! They had old bank account numbers, last 4 of my social security number and name!! Here is the numbers that they used when calling me (888)293-5530 and (888)414-2697!! Please be aware that cannot prosecute you for a payday loan!! I talked to the people at Cardinal Management and she told me its a scam!' Hope these numbers help everyone out there!!

I received a call on my work voice mail from a Jason Jacobs. He said that I had 48 hours to call him back or else my will be sent to my local DA's office. I called them today and was told that if I didn't pay $456 by 5pm the there will be a warrant for my arrest. I said are you sure about that and the rep said that he is 99% sure of it. he also said that the election is over time to pay your bill. he also said that he does not care about that FDCPA crap. I am suppose to call back tomorrow with a pre paid credit card to make payments. I want to pay back the money that I owe but I know my rights and as of not they are going to owe me far more than I owe them. I am a collections manager and know collection laws backwards and forwards. They picked the right one to mess with.

The reason he is now asking for a pre-paid card is cuz then people can't file fraud charges with their banks and get the $ back.
