I have just experienced the same thing, $1.01 charge from ELEGANT 888-418-7046 P on my VISA credit card.  I will do the same and go to the bank first thing tomorrow morning to resolve this situation.  Thanks to everyone who contributed to these postings.  Your input has helped me a great deal.  It has put my mind at ease knowing I am not the only one in which this has happened.

Same thing here, I just canceled my card and I'm going to report all of that wherever I can.
I strongly advice everyone to do the same.

Noticed a $1 MC charge on recent billing. When I call the toll free # the call is disconnected at the other end. Called multiple times. Reported the unauthroized charge to my MC and they canceled my card, reissued a new card to be mailed shortly.
I understand this is the biggest new scam. Most people don't notice a $1 on their billing and the scammers get away with it. They now have your card # and have access for new charges.
This is the 4th time this sort of scam has happened to us, and 4thd time we've requested a new card so that additional access is denied.

I also noticed a $1.01 charge to my account.  I have been charged by other companies, but contacted them and gotten it corrected.  But.....when I call this number, I get a robotic voice telling me to call back during business hours and it always seems to be the wrong time.  I am changing my account and hoping that this person or persons behind this SCAM reap what they sow.  REVENGE IS MINE SAYS THE LORD!!   It will come back 10 fold on you!!    Jesus is Lord!!

I just saw a $1.00 charge on my credit card from some company listed as Elegant.  I tried the number and it just keeps disconnecting. There was also a charge for .01 cent as a fee. I called my Credit Union and they said that the 1 cent was a fee they charged because the Elegant charge came through as an international charge. I told them I have not purchases anything Internationally and I did not authorize that $1.00 charge.  It is not worth the paperwork hassel to dispute the $1.00 charge but they are blocking my credit card and issuing me a new one.  Thank God I looked at my accounts online frequently.  Often scammers will put through a small charge first to verify a legit account. Next thing you know they are putting in a bigger amount.  I hate the hassel of cancelling my card but it is not worth the risk of being taken for a lot more then a $1.00 later.

This message showed up on my Capital One card. "ELEGANT 888-418-7046 P"
I called the number, it rings a couple times and just hangs up.  I am disputing the charge.
Thank you everyone for posting.  It's helpful to see that other people have run into the same problem.

Happened to me too on this past weekend. The good thing was that my bank put an auto hold on my account after the$1 charge from Elegant so there were no fraudulent transactions after that.  The bad part about that was that $1 transaction was a 'test transaction' so it never went through and didn't show up on my statement, so I would have never known.

I haven't but this is the *classic* scam-method of placing recurrent difficult-to-cancel subscriptions on your credit/debit card. See my reply to Kenia above.

This is a version of the automatic debit scam as described by the FTC here http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/telemarketing/tel06.shtm  It's frequently mysterious as to how they got your account info in the first place. They might be fraudulently charging accounts at random or more likely you might have given/used your account to get something in exchange for a $-off coupon,  a free something like a shopping card with a small shipping fee, etc., and buried in the fine print is authorization to auto-charge your account every month with bullsh*t difficult-to-cancel subscriptions. The methods used to get you to "agree" to the fine print is endless and they come up with new schemes every day.
To stop the billing, contact the scammer to kill the subscription and get your money back and if that fails, tell your card issuer or bank that fraud has occurred and have them refund the money and replace the account - this is important, the account must be replaced because criminals have it and they can charge again or sell account info to other criminals. Report to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.

I just noticed this same charge, name and number listed in my pending charges. I haven't even used my card in over a week. I'm curious, have any one of you recently won magazine subscriptions but you had to pay the shipping?

I had the exact thing happen to me.  My bank said I will have to wait and then if it goes through, we will dispute.  I had to cancel my debit card and request a new one.  I have tried to call them and have been on hold three different times for over 15 minutes, then disconnected.

Received a call from my bank saying someone was trying to use my debit card to purchase $1.00 with the name Elegant 1-888-418-7046. Just wanted to warn others if they see this type of charge come up with this phone number. When I call it it asks me to press 1 for Frequently Asked Questions or 2 to speak with a customer service rep and then I am left on hold forever with music and finally disconnects me. I have no idea where this number comes from.
