I received a phone call and called back :-( They asked me to gave them card number and the 3 digitalis at back of the card. They also asked some security questions. They sounded so nice and told me nothing special. But after the call and read comment here, I realized I did something wrong.

I have received 2 calls from this number in December 2013 and January 2014. I reported it to TD and to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
I can't believe they are using the same number since 2010, and no one does anything to stop them :((

THANK YOU to those who have reported this number as I did a search and found that this is another scam. Appreciate people reporting this so whoever is trying to fraud folks will hopefully get caught. I cannot believe how dishonest people can be. How do these people sleep at night knowing they are impacting the lives of so many by stealing their possessions and identities? All I can say is that you will eventually have to answer to a higher power and that you must live with the guilt of what you are doing. I pray that those of you doing this eventually realize how wrong it is and change your ways and use your talent and skills to help people and not hurt them.

Just got off phone with TD re this number and although it doesn't appear on their website, the TD employee confirmed that it was their credit card activation number and this makes sense as i received a credit card from them a week or two ago and forgot activate it.

TD - to activate a card
I got same call 2012-03-30 17:18:45 Unknown
it is TD visa... :) They want to activate your new visa card. If you already did, just simply ignore.
TD told me if you have 0 balance, it will take times to update your activation.

I received a call from this number and they left a message claiming they are TD Canada Trust, asking me to call them back.

I called the 800 number listed on TD's website (which was the same as the caller-ID) and the CSR said that it was a legit number. Still, it's a very stupid practice for TD to call with a caller-ID of the legit number and tell you to call a different 888 number that is not found anywhere on TD's website.
Greg 2011-06-06 21:05:30 Unknown
I recently got a voicemail asking me to call this number. The caller ID of the voicemail was a real TD number listed on their website (their credit card department). I also have a new credit card from them which I haven't bothered to activate yet. I checked the sticker on the card and the activation number there is the same as the number I was asked to call, 1-888-431-1920. So this appears to be a legitimate activation number.

AFTER I HAD IDENTITY THEFT I DON'T TRUST ANYONE. I agree!
Cheena 2011-06-06 21:05:30 Unknown
UPDATE: I got an email from my bank and they did say that it is confirmed it as there number.
td employee 2011-06-06 21:05:30 Unknown
this is not a td number , or td calling. it is a fraudulent caller pretending to be from td. when you call the number back it asks you to enter in your card number and phonecode. do not do it. your information will be compromised. if you have call td to tell them so they can turn off your card
Ninja 2011-06-06 21:05:30 Unknown
It asks you to enter your card number to activate your card. That's great but I didn't order a new card so why would they be calling me? Sounds like a scam to me.
JR 2011-06-06 21:05:30 Unknown
I called this number and then called the number on my bank card and was assured that the 888-431-1920 is a legitimate number for TD and it's the card activation number
CheeSimba 2011-06-06 21:05:30 Unknown
They just called me too with my first and last name how do they get his info? One time someone called and I told them that I don't give info on the phone and I go to my bank if I need to do business.
But you would be surprised how many people they do fool! Because they use the Bank Name thinking it is legit. Phone your bank and ask first if they called from this number. Never give personal info over the phone unless it is the number you are calling that you know is safe.

I got a voice mail suggesting that I need to call TD Canada Trust
"urgently" on this number (1-888-431-1920). I called TD Canada
Trust using a different, published number and it was determined that
they had not called me and that this number is not associated with
them.
Probably fraud. I never called it so I don't know what type of
information they are hoping to obtain.

I'm sorry to not provide additional information regarding myself but I work as a Telephone Specialist at TD and can confirm that TD will never ask you to provide personal information in email or pop up and would not call you asking for information. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS call the number on the back of your card or contact your branch. Hope this helps you all.
someone else 2011-06-06 21:05:30 Unknown
If you ever have any concern regarding a call or email or pop up DO NOT RESPOND!!!! call TD using the # on the back of your bank card.
Larry Holick 2011-06-06 21:05:30 Unknown
Make up your mind, are you a td_employee? If you are spell out your name, your position within TD. It's sound like you are a fraud too!

Received a call from 1-888-431-1920.
Sounded suspicious from the beginning.
Researched the number and found this page. My suspicious are confirmed.
TD will never solicit information from customer's.
Always call YOUR branch for any bank-related issues. Never assume!

Yeah I recieved a call from this number, I googled the number with TD in the search, and nothing came up....I also used the reverse lookup in the yellow pages and nothing came up. You would think if it was a TD number it would at least come up in the search results. It was a completely automated call, which was somewhat convincing, although it seemed a little off. When they gave the number out to call back, the 888 part of the number was really weird sounding and hard to make out/understand.
The entire phone call was iffy and weird, so I googled the number and this is literally one of the only things I could find about the number....a little concerning to say the least. Needless to say, I am not calling back, or I will call a legit TD number and inquire about this number.
Cheers

This is a fraudulent attempt to gather information about your credit cards. I received a call from this phone number and refused to give them information (they did use the same voice-mail system as the bank to sound very convincing). I called the bank who notified me this number has nothing to do with any legitimate credit card or banking service and is fraudulent. The bank then placed a "watch" on all of my accounts in case these individuals try anything. :)

actually it is td. nevermind, sorry
