My situation mirrors your, a call  rom the company, stating an account balance with JCPenny that was closed over 10 years ago. This anger woman threating to have me served  by a Process Server for failure to response to all the notices they supposedly sent. Then a call from the pit-bull, an angry man, ready to have me served paperwork for fraud, stating Michigan statue 750-131. Asking questions to verify company only caused more intense anger.

I returned their call and right off asked them for their mailing address, they refused to give it to me! They said if I would give them all the information they want, then they would give it to me. I said according to the FTC they were required to give me their mailing address, they said "the FTC has no authority over them so that's out the window", then proceeded to hang up on me when I said I was going to report them.

My call to 1-888-435-3095, this date.

I am an attorney in Harrisburg, PA.  My client in an active bankruptcy received repeated calls from this "company" referencing a three year old debt.  My client informed them she was in an active bankruptcy, and they repeatedly called her saying they aren't subject to "Pennsylvania" laws because they are off-shore.  I called back, and I requested information on the debt for bankruptcy purposes.  They refused to provide it and hung up.

At no time did they provide the required FDCPA notices, nor did they give me the information on the debt.  Their attempts to contact my client in regard to ANY debt following notice of the bankruptcy case is a violation of U.S. federal law, regardless of where they are located.  It is my opinion that nothing about this company is legitimate.

This is a debt collector scamming consumers. It's against the law to threaten consumers to make them pay a bill. Also, other posters keep it clean the rules on these boards state that!

Global management company

File complaints with your local BBB and FTC, for the way they attempt to collect debts that violate the FDCA.

Got message from "Lisa" on my personal unlisted cell phone.  Something about "complaints" against my social security number etc etc and about a bad debt.  This is obviously a scam.  Original call came from 804 302 5761 (attemptig to seem local but Ricmond is not anywhere near DC and I don't know anyone in that area) directing me to call back 1 888 435 3095 with some fake arbitration case number.

Just call block these losers.   A valid debt collector will show on your credit report and send you something formal in the mail.  You are an idiot if you think this is a real company or that you really owe money to anyone who calls you from an automated collection company.

I received a call asking for the person who used to have this number before me.  Like others, the message said "department of bad checks," "several complaints" and mentioned the "arbitration department."  Called back the toll free number and received a person.  I said I was not the person and I was told that my phone would be removed from the call list.

Oddly enough, I can find nothing online about "global management limited" as a debt buyer or a collection agency.  The voice mail violates FDCPA notice requirements, plus for wrong numbers it violates FDCPA for the person originally targeted.

Usually the people pulling off this kind of scam are East Indians calling from a boiler room.  This was more sophisticated sounding.  Unsure if this is a scam or a really stupid debt buyer.

This is a recorded msg that called me today and yesterday it is from a Lisa Fuller (really can't make out the last name) stating they are calling in regards to bad checks with my name and SS#, she left a case # and said to call her back at 888-435-3095 or press 9 to speak to representative.  The number that shows on my caller ID is 321-249-9747 & 321-248-7890. I did call the 2nd number back and a lady answered the phone with "hello" I told her I received a call yesterday and today from this number and wanted to know what it was in regards to. She said let me look it up, she then said is this --------------my name and I wouldn't answer her I just ask again what is it in reference to and what is the name of the company. She said if you can't tell me who you are I can't tell you then she hung up on me.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Dumb move. Your debt was past the statue of limitations for most states. By paying an agreed upon "settlement", you actually just re-aged the loan and they will probably continue to call regarding whatever remaining balance is left. And you know that your payment did not go to the original creditor at all, but only to the bottom-feeders pockets that bought the old debt, right?  And so they in turn can sell your info to another 3rd party who will also try to collect on a debt you know you've already paid for with this last collector. But, as you say, life goes on.

They are back at it again today... They say to call back 888-435-3095 bc you are going to be served because of a bad check for some cash advance.  Don't let these people scare you. They had no chance because ive never taken a cash advance so right off the bat the ball was in my court.  They said it was something from 2008... and i knew right off the top of my head that if it was in '08 then the statute of limitations says they have nothing.  Don't be scared by these low lifes.  Now that you know, wait for the next call and have fun with them.

Several complaints regarding my name & ssn? And she will deliver sealed documents to my address or if not home @ my place of business and document will be given to a manager or supervisor.
Got the calls before kept waiting! Also NO process server gives you a heads up. Checked my credit report, part of Id theft. This scammer tries to re-date old depts that are sold pennies on the $ and pocket what they collect by using fear tactics.
BTW one attempted sued me, I won as no validation.  Demand validation, do not make payment or admit to debt.

I just received a call from a local St. Louis phone number, but with all the scams going around I'm not calling back.  I should not have any debts to pay and a debt collector would not typically call and say "We have received several complaints with your name and SSN" that right there does not sound legit.  And if it is a debt collector they will mail you something. Local number was 314.627.1023 then they said to call back at 888.435.3095.

The funny thing with this scam is that they are calling my google number that I never give out. I had a friend who filed BK and after the discharge received calls like this. It is a scam people! To verify I had my lawyer call and tell them to cease and desist after they could not answer as simple questions that anyone who supposedly has information should be able to.

Below is the transcript from Google Voice-

Even if you were to be believed (which you're not) what you're trying to say is that you paid a fraudulent debt collector on a debt that was past the statute of limitations in almost every state in the U.S. Good work Genius!
Not that anyone here ever believes anything from an obvious SHILL anyway! Everyone that finds their way to this site promptly learns that no "research" or "many phone calls" are necessary. A simple demand for a notice of validation delivered by mail (NOT e-mail or fax.) is all it takes. If a collector won't provide that, the collector is a fraudulent and/or bogus collector attempting to collect on an invalid, time-barred or purely bogus debt.
The truth hurts doesn't it SHILL?

Actually this is a legit collector and it is possible to forget about a loan. My loan was sold in 2004 to company after company with none of them contacting me until this one. Much research and many phone calls later proved i did owe the debt. They settled for half of the debt. Research the little information they give you and contact the company they are collecting for. The woman i spoke to twice was VERY rude and unproffesional but life goes on.

I have an account with JCPenny that has been closed for over 10 years. The account balance was never over $300.
The account even shows closed on my credit report.
I started receiving phone calls at work stating that I owe $4,000.00 and would face legal action if I didn't settle with them over the phone and pay $700 to close the account.
I have spoken to JCPenny and my account has been closed out and charged off since 2007
