Actually, thats not even close to statistically true at all. Why do you tell people that? I work in the credit industry. And re read the initial post from the person you are lying to, he said that he does NOT owe the debt.....
WhoIam 2012-10-01 21:58:15 Unknown
Your sound like a stuck up B****! Do you think that I don't want to pay my bills or something. When I have to choose between my electric bill, water, gas for my car to get back and forth to work and paying some stupid medical bill that is jacked up 10 times the actual cost what do you think I am going to choose. Geesh!

These people should get more respectable jobs, maybe prostitution.
Real scumbags these people are.

This company called me and asked for my ssn before even telling me why they were calling. I said no way will I tell u that without knowing why you r calling. They asked for my name and shortly after they said there's no record of my name in their system. I think it was a load of crap to get my ssn. Don't trust progressive financial services.

Keeps calling 2x/day but never leaves a message.
Jane Sutherland 2012-07-09 16:44:30 Debt Collector
They were asking for Penny Parker. I asked the nature of the call and they said the #'s were left as a reference number. I told them they had the wrong # and not to call back. Some fellow by name of Talyor.
Very stern sounding. Would not say what they wanted. So then I called the toll free # and automation asked for an account Number. How do you stop this. This has happened before. Call from Progressive Financial Services/Thames Commerical Tire, Ontario, Canada. Scam!
allen johnson 2012-07-03 16:44:55 Unknown
i see you work for Progressive. many debts that are turned over for collection are erroneous or uncollectable. if you judge your employees solely by credit score you miss good people. but that is ok guys/girls like you dont stay in business long anyway

Got a call on my cell from them today. They want to talk to a lady with an Hispanic name.
Told them nobody by that name at this number, and that I've had the number for three years.
They want to know my name; told them "No way", as I don't know who/what they are. Then,
I put on my "raging phone call" act, proceeded to yell at, and insult the caller. (Comic relief
for me.) and told her that I am on a FEDERAL NO-CALL REGISTRY, and was proceeding
to TRACE THEIR NUMBER, and REPORT THEM TO THE FCC. (Lots of yelling) For some
reason, she hung up abruptly. ... I take it as a duty to make their encounter as unpleasant
to them as possible. ... Please do get on the registry.

Doing extensive internet search this appears to be one of those collection agencies that scab for debts no longer owed and then prey on people hoping they will be ignorant to their rights.
I love it when i get calls like this because I happen to have a brother who is a private investigator and one of his partners is a retired da/atty who specializes in fraud cases so they have been reported.
I've heard of people who also keep one of those canned air air horns handy & when they get uncooperative or harrasing, let er rip!
annoyed 2012-04-06 22:26:10 Unknown
HAve no idea who they are. They keep calling and there is no one by the name at the number. getting sick and tired of these calls. I told them that this person does not have this number and it stopped but it has now started back up again
Peace out 2012-04-03 23:01:41 Debt Collector
Not sure who I owe at this place. They call and automatically put me into a hold cue. When a live person does come on they say my name a few times and no matter what kind of noises I make they simply end up hanging up the phone. Pretty sure I am paid off. Checked my credit report. Now it just seems they want to play phone games. What reasonable company would hire these morons to attempt to collect anything. They are complete baffoons.

Number has called multiple times for someone that doesn't live here. I've had multiple conversations with the representatives, telling them to remove our number. Each time they swear, rudely argue even, that I've never talked to them before. This happened just yesterday.
I've filed an FCC complaint with the number, hopefully it will get them to stop calling.

Got the automated message asking if it was me. If you are using an android phone you can put them in your address book and configure their calls to go directly to voice mail. I use Youmail as my voice mail service (free version). It let's you set a different message for each caller id. Their's is now a "this number is disconnected message".

You will all love this... I have a GoPhone with a bogus name registered to it. No business has ever been given the number. These parasites are just hoping someone will answer and give up the goods.
job hunter 2012-02-16 22:29:54 Unknown
Unless you are getting a financial job, I think pre employment credit checks are an invasion of privacy, a form discrimination, and they allow businesses to judge character based on assumptions and not facts. Corporations believe that if you have a bad credit score, or owe money, then you are likely to be a criminal etc, even if a candidate has no criminal record.

Received a letter from the Progressive Financial Services, Inc. It was addressed to (get this!)
CDT TEST ACCT AUTO, our address with an added apt #1 on it. Funny because we only have a private home on a farm (no apt's here). Our name nor anyone elses was on it anywhere. They wanted $918.49 for COX FLORIDA-MACON. paid by CREDIT CARD, and they want it sent to P.O. Box 22083, Tempe, Az. 85285.
It has this phone # on it (888-441-5024) .
We don't owe anyone this amount, or by this name, so i knew it is a scam. I took it to the post office, and they made a copy of it to investigate. Told me if anymore come in our mail to DO NOT open it, write on the envelope "Not At This Address", and put it back in the mailbox.
We get calls from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. from AZ and all over the USA from scammers, and pranksters. We are sick of it, isn't there any way to put a stop to this madness???

they called my number looking for boyfriend...put him on the phone, and was left on hold.so he hung up..then I googled the number and got this web site...
Roxxy 2012-02-02 23:57:11 Unknown
I just got a call form that same # and looked it up. Total SCAM! I used to work for a debt settlement company and know the tricks these scammers try to pull. Never make a pmt on an old debt where the statute of limitations has expired. Collection Agencies purchase accounts (for pennies on the dollar) from other companies, including very old accounts and still try to collect on them. For the original debt amount PLUS interest!! It's all bogus. DO NOT ANSWER, REPORT THE COMPANY and whatever you do DO NOT LET THEM CONVINCE YOU TO MAKE A PMT.
Roxxy 2012-02-02 23:52:07 Unknown
Report them to your states attorney general as well as the Arizona Attorney General. Also send them a Cease & Desist letter.
Roxxy 2012-02-02 23:48:11 Unknown
Also, DO NOT make a payment because once you've made a pmt on a debt that has expired, it starts the whole statute of limitations all over again. Then you're REALLY stuck!
Tarana 2012-01-31 16:51:09 Unknown
I am receiving phone calls from this number at least twice a day... I know it is junk calls so I will not answer, but it is annoying. All of my phone numbers home and cells are on the Do Not Call Registry but somehow they keep on calling. Please stop calling.
Tarana 2012-01-26 18:03:50 Debt Collector
Please STOP CALLING I received at least 8 to 10 voicemail I don't know who you are and I am receiving calls early in the morning and at night...please stop ..or I am going file a report.

I just started getting these automated calls from this number. Unsurprisingly they are aimed at some guy I have never met and do not know, whom I frequently gets wrong number calls for him.
This isn't the first time I've gotten harassed with endless automated calls meant for this person either. However, that previous flood of automated calls was ended in the same manner this current one will be if it continues.
For those of you who are fed up with these calls, do what I did. Keep a record of the calls, what the messages were about and what actions you took with each call. Then with this information in hand, report the number/business to the FCC (which can be done online if you find that easier).
After I reported the previous company that harassed me with automated messages I quickly stopped receiving calls from them all together. About a week or so later I received a very nice letter in the mail from the FCC to let me know that they had looked into and taken care of the problem. ;)
Employer 2012-01-18 15:43:10 Unknown
Honestly, If you owe the money you need to pay it. I can relate to how annoying these calls are but I tell you what.... Not paying them off effectively seals your credit worthiness. Just hold on the job you have right now because 90% of companies run a credit check and, the doors to my corporation is closed for somebody who intentionally does not want to pay their debt.
Good luck in your future
Matt 2012-01-04 22:42:36 Unknown
They are a collection agency- they are licensed and regulated by the Arizona Department of Financial Institutions. File a complaint with them and your state's Attorney General.
Also, feel free to file suit against them for harassment and violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
