Some voicemail message - Credit Card company following up on a previous call (pretending to have the wrong ph#), offering an unbelievable deal to lower my interest rate and cut my monthly payments. If I call back, I'm sure the person on the other end will offer me a credit card.

Same thing just happened to me. Started off by saying rates as low as 1.5% and that I had to call back today if I wanted it to be free and he said something that made it sound like he's been working for me and that this was my last chance to get it for free.

Doug Adams called and left a message pretending they were returning my call. They made it sound like this was the last time they would call.

He didn't names names, so to being concern that some poor guy isn't going to get the message I retunr the call to inform them they made a mistake.

Sure enough the whole thing is a scam. Some bs debt reduction service company, though Paul wouldn't name the company, just what they did and before he started with his pitch, I just went nuts on the guy for pulling such a cheap stunt.

He hung up, I guess I offended the jack***.

I called the number back 888-442-0803 and the woman that answered right away asked for my name and my phone number.  Which when I refused to give it to her and explained that I'd reported this number to the Do Not Call list, she got defensive.  Again she demanded my phone number telling me that I'd been called by accident.  When I indicated that the recorded message was "accidentally" on my voice mail twice she got audibly angry, told me "you have a good day ma'am" and hung up on me.   I received these "accidental" phone calls from a 603-214-3332 number to my unlisted cellular number.

Ah the grand internet answers another question.  I got a very odd voice mail on my mobile phone line.  The voice mail had an ID of 7372928586, which is a dead number when I called it back.  It seemed like a recording since the guy was well into his pitch when the voice mail begun.  I did get the 888 number and called a few times to see who picks up.  They never stated the name of the company just the operator's first name.  So I checked online to see if that 888 number had any red flags.  I found this site and one other.  I'll be sure to bug them some more to see if any slip up.

This guy who called himself "Doug Adams" called me and left a message on my work phone today around 3:15pm.  He said he was calling regarding lowering the interest rates on my credit cards to 1.5%.  He spoke as if we'd talked before (like last week or something like that) and said this would be the last time he'll try to call me.  According to the message I'm supposed to call the toll-free number listed above.

As this was at my work and I didn't remember talking to anyone about anything like this before (be they a person with the same name as the gifted author or not), I did not call the phone number.  Also, I ran a Google check on the number first to see where it originates, and found several links to this scam-reporting website.

I hope someone finds out who is responsible for these calls and puts a stop to it! It's bad enough receiving telemarketers at home, let alone at work too!

Thank you!

Received a call on my work number stating that the caller (who identified himself as Doug Adams) had spoken to me last week about lowering the rate on my credit cards - of which I have ZERO. First of all, I do NOT have any credit cards; secondly, I did NOT speak to anyone about reducing these nonexistent payments, thirdly, I certainly would NOT have called anyone using my work phone; and lastly, the individual on the other end of the phone is a liar to start out with - I received the identical voicemail message about a month ago, near the same time of day - while I was away from my desk at lunch - and on that occasion he also said that it was to be the last courtesy call he would make. He also used a family name at the beginning of the call that I don't recall - however it was not mine. If anyone knows of a regulatory agency that this scam can be reported to, please report it - there are far too many vulnerable, financially hurting people out there who will jump at the chance to 'reduce their payments', only to end up being worse off than they started.

Sound familiar everyone?

"(uh) Hey guys, Doug Adams here again. Hey we (uh) spoke last week on the phone (uh) regarding possibly lower your interest rates and (uh) reducing your monthly payments on your (uh) credit card. (uh) Wanted to let you know I did (uh) find a solution here. (uh) The program that we've got (uh) can lower those interest rates to as low as 1.5% and possibly cut your monthly payment in half, (uh) and then since you were only making the minimum payments, this would just be a great opportunity here for ya. (uh) This will be the last courtesy call that I will make so (uh) please give me a ring today. (uh) You can reach me here at 1(888) 442-0803. (uh) Again that is toll free at 1(888) 442-0803."

Scam of some kind. Called from 636-625-1231.

Just got a message on my MagicJack phone that rolled over to my email.  Some guy saying since I was only making minimum payments, this was my "last courtesy call" for me to get low rates on my credit card.  I called back to tell him to shove it, but no one answered.

The guy who called me was Doug Adams (at least that's what it sounded like).  Telling me he was calling back about our conversation last week and that this was his last courtesy call about lowering my interest rate.  Funny thing is - that's what he's said the past THREE times he's called.  I have also had them call once and it sounded like they were in a call center or that they were talking with someone (probably training some new a***ole how to make these cold calls).  I want to find out the company name and report them to the Better Business Bureau.
PS - the one time I called the number back after hours it I got a recording which asked me to put in my credit card number.  I just hung up.

Same thing as everyone else - the number on my caller ID was 31-0781-7975, someone named Adams (that was the only name I heard), it was the last courtesy call to lower my interest payments for my credit card. I don't have a credit card so I figured it was a scam, googled the callback # they gave me, and ended up here.

I received this call too. The phone number was (314)781-7975. When I did a reverse phone call lookup it was a land line based in St.Louis MO. unpublished. THIS is why I don't answer phone calls if I don't know who it is.  He left the 888-442-0803 as a call back number. Something is really wrong with that.
