I just had these charges show up on my phone bill and I do not click on banner ads or do surveys or free gifts.  You can go online and get people's addresses and phone numbers.  It doesn't mean that people are stupid and have given away their information.  I have an unlisted phone number but I can find it on the internet.  Maybe someday this will happen to you, then see how you feel.

It is not just AT&T, the same thing happens on Verizon too. When I called to have them stop billing me for any other companies than theirs, I asked why they would even do such a thing as bill their customers for some other company and I was told that the Government requires them to do it. Another place where our Government is screwing up again.

Priscilla,

My Verizon bill dated 2/4/11, due 3/2/11, included a $19.99 charge on 1/9/11 for Webhosting Monthly Fee from Store Front Riches.  (I'm sorry, "Fly-By-Night what"?).  When I called 866-540-5033 (the SFR billing questions number on my Verizon bill), SFR said that that there also had been a more recent (monthly) charge of 19.99 on 2/9 for the same service.  They replied that they had received an internet request for the service on 1/6/11 with my ex-wife's e-mail address, her married name (changed back to her maiden name years ago) and my address (a former address of hers) provided in the internet request.  They said that they would refund the 19.99 from 2/9, but that I'd be responsible for the 19.99 charged on 1/9.  (Yeah, "what?!!", my mental reaction too.)

I explained that I hadn't authorized the initial service request on 1/9.  The call center rep clicked me on/then off hold right away (seemed like she was used to that response and how to proceed) and said that, as a courtesy to me, they'd credit my account for the full 39.98.  She gave a confirmation number for the reimbursement to me.  She said that the credit should show on my next phone bill and that there shouldn't be further charges.  If there are, to call them and to give them the credit confirmation number.

***** Having worked in accounts payable/receivable, my strong recommendations are:   ****
:) Be nice to the person answering the call.
> Politely ask for or verify their first name.  It shows that you're listening, that you know that they're a human being and people like to be called by their name.
> Emphasize that you didn't authorize any of the charges - the initial charge, nor any subsequent charges.
> Make sure that you verify with the call center rep that each charge will be refunded.
> Get that refund confirmation number.
> Stick, politely, to your guns.  You didn't do anything wrong here.
> Thank them for their help and wish them a good day.

Again, be nice.  You want something from them.  The customer service rep is just working there to put food on the table for their family.  Mine was very helpful, calm and polite.  Whoever makes the decisions and thinks up the whole fraud is way higher up the chain than they are.  The CSR likely has to deal with dozens of jerks every day.  Don't be one of them.

So, short answer to your $14.94 question, call them back and follow my golden rules above.  Also, call your phone company (Verizon) and let them know that you're in contact with StoreFrontRiches and that you're going to with-hold that $14.94 (and any subsequent SFR charges) from your payments until it's been resolved.  (Stay in touch with SFR and Verizon at least weekly until it's done.  Who knows?  Maybe you'll get on a first name basis with the call center rep and they'll slide your credit through just because you're a nice gal.)  If you pay it, Verizon may not have any recourse back against SFR and SFR may not refund it once it's been paid.

Good luck and God speed.

I'm adding to this thread - not because I received a call but because I was being screwed by the same company as noted above.

9/30/10 ? I found a charge on my August bill to PaymentOne Corp for $15.84

Further checking.... STORE FRONT RICHES says it all!
I called to see what it was?. Was told it was a service I?d signed up for on 6/8/10 ? offering special deals on web services? Was told I was sent an email confirmation on 6/8!!! BULL S*** !!! - I checked for the confirmation - none received.  I demanded a full refund. The person I spoke with remained calm while she walked though here ' you've been F$%CKed speech.... She asked me to verify information they had on me - I told here they must have gotten it from SBC or some where else but not from me. She said that would be ILLEGAL.  The saga ended with a confirmation to stop 'services' and full refund of  $63.36 ? full refund ? 866-540-5033 if I have any other questions.

I will cancel ATT - am in the process of different DSL service and use magic jack for phone.
I found two other third party billings recently, one on my 85 year old father's Verizon bill... and one on my girlfriends 84 year old mothers cell phone bull....  Both were CRAP... and after great effort, both were cancelled and refunded.  These guys must really be making out at $5 - $15 / month

BUNCH OF CRAP - third party billing on my ATT bill.

I just realized that I had this 14.95 charge on my AT&T bill from Store Front Riches.  I called  them and when I got to a customer service rep. she did not even ask what the problem was she just started explaining what the company was and that it was a monthly fee for a website to advertise product. I told her I did not sign up for this and did not know what it was, when I asked for my $$ back she got an attitude and agreed to send me a refund check.(through gritted teeth) .  AT&T should not allow this to happen!

This is a scam!  Shame on AT&T because although they were more than happy to remove the charges when we called, they NEVER should have allowed the charges to be placed on my bill in the first place.  They are very aware of this scam and are doing NOTHING!

We also had a charge on our att phone bill from Store Front Riches for $16.20.  A complete scam from a site that picked up info about us on the Internet.  I called Att and they put a block on Third Party Billing, but they would not issue a credit.  I called the company and complained.  They said they would send a check for the charge and issued a stop for any future services.  Beware when clicking on anything FREE!

Our last AT&T bill had a charge of $14.94 from Store Front Riches for "Online Ed 4 Ecommerce".  We never ordered anything from them because we never talk to solicitors.  I'm getting ready to call AT&T - if they don't take the charge off my bill, I'll subtract that amount from my payment.

Just got my phone bill with a $14.94 charge, throw in some Government tax for a total of $16.08.  I have NEVER let ANY automatic charge be put on any utility let alone a WAH scam.  Rolling up my sleeves and getting ready for the battle.  It has been my experience that the "finger pointing" will ensue.  BellSouth will say call the company and the company will say I authorized.  Does anyone know if the "Magic Jack" works for fax machines?  This is the only reason I have a land line to begin with.  Thank you for this thread - good to know I not alone.

You can call Store Front and they will send you a check. Same thing happened to me. They said I signed up on-line, which I didn't. The lady I spoke with didn't seem to know anything about the company, only that they help you open up a web page to sell merchandise. She works in customer service only. As far as AT&T, shame on them for allowing third party billing. They must be getting a cut to allow this.

ATT Tells me that your "Blocking" is against FCC regulations and they won't allow them to block any 3rd party charges from being placed on my account.  I'm on hold with the "Fraud Dept." right now, but I'm not having any good feelings about this...ATT says they'll put a "3 month hold" on this charge, but it will simply show up in 3 months if the company (Storefront SCAMMERS) doesn't cancel...so I'll be charged and be responsible for a charge I didn't authorize and refuse to pay...sounds like I'm screwed!!

You are wrong. We had a charge on our landline which is not even in use, but it showed up on the last bill. No one clicked a link or put in the information on our computer. You are living in a dream world if you think there is no scammers out their who can get your info & use it fraudulently. Wake up and blame the culprits not the victims.

Charges appear on your phone bill because a registration form was submitted to the company that billed you. If you no longer want the service, just call the company and cancel and request a refund. If you do not recall going on line and selecting different offers, or thought you had not submitted the service request form (clicked on the submit button), you can cancel the service, no questions asked. But seriously, if you don't want these types of services billed on your phone bill, make sure you and your family members don't click on banner ads for services, surveys, or some free gift! NOTHING IS FREE!!! Never fill out forms that request your name and address and phone number and credit card information unless you CLEARLY UNDERSTAND you are making a purchase. Take some responsibility people! These companies can't get your info unless you, or someone you know, like a family or household member, gives it to them. Pay attention to what you do on the internet, and what information you fill out. Read what you are doing.

As far as the local telephone companies, you can request a THIRD PARTY BILLING BLOCK be put on your phone line that will block ALL of these types of charges. But you must request it, your local phone company will not offer it.
